I had angus bull calf born like him and he turned out to be one of the best bulls I’ve used
What a good momma just standing there for him. I hope he grew up big and strong
Oh this has to be the cutest calf ever! I'm so glad you took the time to save her!
He’s precious! That was one hungry baby! This was so heartwarming to watch.
Isaac...you're a great "momma's helper"...🤣😂🙂🙃🤣👍🐄🐄...Thank ya'll for farmin', ranchin', fixin' and feedin' 🇺🇸 !
Yes he is very small, but it seems he has a good appetite and he seems lively. Rooting for him.
He is small! So glad you found him. I think momma does understand that he just needs a little TLC! So precious! You have a wonderful evening, and yes please keep us updated.
Great video Isaac, the bull calf had beautiful coloring like his mother. It looks like he is off to a good start with some help.
It is very nice that she seems to be a very gentle cow to give the calf a chance! Thanks for this, enjoyed this video very much.
I agree with your comments on the weeds. It is easy for people watching to tell you that you should do this and do that. Pay them no mind. You did an amazing job of helping the new calf. Hopefully he will grow and be a strong asset to your farm. Really enjoyed the video. thanks Isaac till next time.
No kidding, people have no idea what it takes to run a farm or Ranch or they wouldn't mention weeds, especially being everyone knows a brush hog wouldn't fit in the alley..
You did a great job getting them together.
Now isn't he just the cutest little thing. We had one Hereford bull calf that was tiny as well we named him Solomon. Mum didn't want to know him all. Bottle feed him for 4 months and turned out to be one of the best bulls we've had my neighbour has him now he would have sired 400 or 500 calves. Keep us posted.
Once they find out where the table is set most of the worries are over. The cow must feel a relief as well getting some of the pressure off her udder. I think you did great. I hope the calf does well and comes to size eventually. Good video. Pax.
He actually drank on his own from the mother this evening! It was great to see. Hopefully he keeps it up!
I work at a dairy. Primarily Jersey and Holstein crosses. The smallest I’ve seen is a 28lbs calf we now call Little Bit
Excellent. He'll be alright.
Glad to hear you've had some rain, grass does recover very quick, yes. England is being hammered, totally scorched, but not too bad in Wales next door here.
As a general rule, I don’t like brush hogging in a drought. I’ve only had one premature calf. Found her too late to help her. Best wishes to you
Hello very good your efforts are helping out I'm sure. Tiny but looks great and mother seems to want take care. Have a great day
Good job, young farmer! That calf took to nursing like a pro. Well done. I love that you're cautious about Mama's trampling you. My worst experience with mama rage was with Gelbvieh cattle. Everything worked out great. Excellent that you are willing to take the time to get colostrum into new calves...it can make such a huge difference in survival rates. Well done.
What a little beauty...hope he will be ok..🙏
Issac I like Canada Dry ginger ale too. He is so cute seems like he has a the spunk to try and survive. She seems to be a good mommy cow just learning at least she hasn’t kicked him. You a good man to your animals. I love this video.
Good luck hope everything works out well keep me updated please
Isaac- Not sure if you guys can hear me or not...
Missouri Cicadas- "I bet they can hear us"
Awesome! I don’t know if this would help your situation or future situations but I use the Udderly EZ hand milker to collect the colostrum. It’s inexpensive, helps the momma and the calf. It’s super easy to collect.
Such a cute calf and hope it thrives well.
great patience!
Thanks so much for making a tricky task much more difficult for yourself so that we could see it. Such a delight 😍
You are good caring farmers and no you don’t need pretty brown lawns in the drought weather we are currently experiencing. The less chance the sun gets to bake the soil the better.
Hello from eastern Iowa. We run a few head of cows and calves on our acreage. My 6 year and I love the videos. He loved the calf following you in this video and thought you should know. Best of luck with him!
Thank y’all for watching! Tell him I said hello!
Awesome job man. Hope he stays healthy and happy. Cheers
Another great moment in farming.
Calf may be small, but looking healthy. He may also be a "dwarf Calf" time will tell. Looks like your doing the right thing and I believe this calf will survive.
I doubt he will ever be normal sized but I think he might grow okay. But as you said, time will tell.
Good job. I would like to see the calf’s progress
Great video as all yours are. If people are so worried about the weeds tell them to come cut them haha. You know what your doing hope all is still well man
What a great episode, and tribute to you as a rancher.
You are a very good farmer
That calf is adorable. I've gotten Jersey calves from auction that small and bottle raised them. He seems pretty perky. Good sucking action. 💘 🐂 🇺🇸
I’ve heard a lot of people say that calfs with health issues make great cows if they survive
This one’s a bull calf, so he won’t be staying on the farm for breeding.
@@FarmandHammer this is my first year raising dairy bull calfs for beef. I got them in trade for labor. The farmer usually sells them for $50-100 but they weren’t selling well this year. They were born on an organic farm but I’m just a beginning homesteader. One had scours and swollen knees. Couldn’t find penicillin for a week so his front knees got pretty bad. Not sure he’ll pull through but he’s a really cool calf that follows you around. Fingers crossed
You have so much patients, great.
Love ya vids keep it up
IMO the 50 is worthless, the 100 is acceptable but the 150 according to my vet is worth every penny. I was unaware of the 150 till this year when we were talking. I keep 3 bags of the colostrum on hand when calving. I order it because my CoOp doesn't realize there is a difference between the supplement to the replacer no matter how many times we've talked about it. They just say it's so much more expensive. I want to give them the best chance. Just my opinion.
Wow that baby is the sweetest, and you my friend is an excellent farmer, Forget the weeds they are least important,And take the nasty comments as a grain of salt. Everybody do every thing different, hang tight bro ,and Ilove you and everything your doing.Wish I was closer so I could help with his feedings.Hugs and have a great time with the new baby.keep vid comming, till next time God Bless you.
Hi just want to say I think your hard work will pay off good on you love watching your video keep it up and how are the pigs doing
Pig update will be in the next video!
i love it so much to see your videos so nice friend i follow you from your new instagram
Second time watching this one love this little one .
I have a few questions about a bottle calf I would like you or someone else to answer, will hay work as bedding or should I use straw, how often do I need to change bedding, can I keep a bottle calf in a barn stall of a night and put it in a fenced in area during the day, do I need to put electric fence up or will bar wire work fine, should I leave grain out all day, and lastly how old does the calf need to be before I sell for profit?
That is one cute calf there , what is cutie !!good job Isaac !!and don't let the piss and moaners about that weeds bother you some people just don't have any idea how much time it takes to farm and work as town job!!! get a life you peoples!!
He’s so cute!
Weeds or no weeds your doing a great job ...
Here I faten two goats on weed's and sell them for slaughter before Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays when they bring premium do to the kid goat supply is Way down and demand is still high for any goat's then..
I wish I still had goats. I miss having them around. If only they were easy to keep in!
Yep
Good luck with that one. 🙂
FYI if you use headphones the volume of your video is loud and clear
I raise smaller cows sothis is the average size of my newborns. They can handle the large teats without a problem. Best of luck!
Good video
Smart calf caught onto sucking quickly. Isaac it is ur farm u know what works for u. Don't listen to armchair comments on what u should or shouldn't do
Put the mother and the cow in the barn and the baby and help it nurse by milking out the mother so it doesn’t get mastitis
Love it!
I bought a 16# premie Bradford heifer at auction years ago for $1. She had no sucking reflex and I had to force feed her for 3 weeks. Then she suddenly started sucking on her own. She was a tiny cow when tiny cows weren’t popular.
She’d probably bring high dollar these days. Hopefully he survives too!
Couldn't wait to get out into the world.
I think mom knew you where trying to help.
i will always bare withU, old goPro, bad mic or whatever! i appreciate your work... shoutOut to your bottleFeeding experience & skiLLz, he took to it quickLy &i admire that he was following you! [those weeds tho... *joking (iRecaLL that video!)] please keep us updated & thankYou
If people had to make life choices that you do their eyes would be opened. Let's see... spend 4 hours cutting weeds OR 4 hours keeping a tiny little calf alive. It can't be both because daylight and hours are limited things. I wonder if weeds would be so important given those real life choices? Great job once again BTW. They are a nice looking pair. Once again... tame cow for the win.
very good
Cutest thing I ever did see
Grteat video!
Go Peewee go !!
good job!
Is this calf out of the small heifer bull you bought?
He'll he got it make
Cute 😍
He'a a cutie!
Good husbandry.
Any thoughts on adding a egg to the bottle? I had an organic farmer tell me about it. Has to be a fresh clean egg to make sure they don’t get salmonella
I used to put an egg in every bottle for the first week with new bottle calves. Seems to keep them from scouring and just makes a healthier calf (the extra protein helps). If you want to go the all natural way, that’s about the best thing to keep them healthy besides sanitation and milk replacer quality.
@@FarmandHammer thanks for the feedback. I’m still learning and your channel has been very helpful!
Oh man I thought the egg thing was a myth…Sweet definitely implementing this.
@@MufaroMusara I’ve used it on the last 4 calves of mine and they were all healthy. I had a sickly calf given to me that had scours when I got him and he came back into it for about a month until he took a quick turn for the worse and we lost him. I’ll definitely use a fresh egg in the first months bottle calves from now on
First calf heifer?
Not many people can say they tucked a calf under one arm and walked off with it.
Yeah it was a first for me! Hopefully a last. I’ve never seen a preemie this small survive 🤞
I named him pirate so that's his name from now on 👍
Why didn't you put momma in barn and milk her for the colostrum. Day job no time? Still good job of caring for calf, momma needed help
Can you borrow a herd of goats trum your weeds?
👍❤️🇨🇦

If you run into any issues milking mama or just need a little extra, I've got a couple gallon of goat milk you're welcome to. #KempfKattle
