I've forced the door open twice, or commanded others to do so and yanked the emergency-brakes too. I proudly anounched I was the one who 'broke' the door and I got a handshake and two railwaypolice-officers thanking me for saving the guy's/woman's (twice) life.
Not lying, I live in Holland, it happened twice. Once you pull the brakes, you hear air or something, coming from the walls, sissling noise and the guys have to get a key and re-wind the brakes.

Man-spreading on a seat like that is inexcusable, because leg room isn't an issue. The only time I do it is if I physically cannot fit in the seat with the amount of legroom I have, and then I'll try and find an aisle seat so I can tilt myself that way.
Poor guy, but also a nice guy who do a responsibility to help each other.

How is it possible that her hand gets stuck in the door? Shouldn't the door open automatically?
Verena Subway doors are opened by a conductor. If they see you rushing to get to the door they'll open it back up for you, but if not you have to try and force them open yourself (if they're still closing. If they're already closed you're out of luck)

It's because of the shape of men's hips. I don't want to sit like that. But it's a comfort thing. If I sit with my legs closed I'm forcing my legs to do that and if I do it long enough it will start to strain. It's just how our legs naturally go when sitting down. Just like how your fingers naturally bend when you let them relax.

Manspreading? I was thinking about this while with family Easter Sunday... For some physiques... it really is not possible to sit cross legged with a even an ounce of comfort. It is like trying to squish a dodgeball to the floor. Six months of yoga would not help.

On a plane, the whole knee touching the front seat thing is a different story but isn't manspreading mostly because of their bananas? I'm not against manspreading if there are empty seats and enough room. In the picture it looks like there were empty seats beside them. In this case I would put the onus on whomever sat down after the other person.
If the guy sat down next to Helen and started manspreading like that, then that would be extremely rude. But if that guy was already manspreading, with plenty of other seating choices available, and Helen instead chose to sit right next to the guy, then I would say that Helen was being rude.
We have these things, that hang between our legs, that we spread our legs in order to let them unstick and air out.
