Not irish but completely spanish. Spain has its own long tradition of centuries in celtic music, with hundreds of bands playing traditional celtic music spreaded across the country. In the northern regions of spain almost every tradicional event is held by the sound of bagpipes, and flutes and drums. Just check out luar na lumbre, celtas cortos, acetre, carlos nuñez, hevia, celtian, miradoiro and many many more. Could be difficult to take in that you can find such incredible varity of traditions and folklore in just one country but that‘s the case of spain.
I don't know if you've been told enough about how famous and important this guys are on the hispanic world of music. It's like if you speak about rock on english and say Metallica. Everybody and their dog rocked all of those songs, it was so mainstream it provoked the aparition of even cumbia cover versions, at some point you flipped a rock and there was mago. It produces this sensation where your pirate ancestors wanna take control of your body and go sailing the seven seas 🤣🏴🚣🏻
Yeah from what I've heard I can see that! They have such an awesome mix of sounds that all compliment each other with some pretty incredible writing and musical skills without a doubt!
@@TheKillogicEffect it's pretty unique. You gotta listen to Satania with lyrics, they predicted today's chronically online life. I would like you to listen to the old version, sang by José Ändrea, the old Mägo de Oz vocalist. Even if Zeta was a good vocalist, José Ändrea had the best voice in all Spanish metal. He was really charismatic and made songs look much more powerfull.
Really, Mägo de Oz become popular when he was the vocalist (mainly because of him), but since it was in the pre-UA-cam era, it may be difficult to find his versions, but as thirdie who was a kid in the 90s, I can tell you that the real Mägo de Oz is the one in which José Ändrea was the vocalist, the group died when he left it, even if most UA-cam videos are from his inmediate departure (when the group had become more popular in Spanish America and was losing its influence in Spain).
Yeah thats another example of why media preservation is so important! Even in the movie world there are movies that never went any further than VHS! Another thing people should so with stuff like that is get it onto Archive Dot Org. There is so much music and live shows there that have never been heard by the majority of the public, I can only imagine what is still floating around out there destined to be lost to history!
Have you listened to Bridge City Sinners? It's not metal, but maybe punk with a female lead, strings and creepy lyrics. Somebody said jazz with a satanic twist. Well, if you like metal and Mägo de Oz, you should try Bridge City Sinners too. I think you might enjoy their Song of the Siren.
Here is the low quality video from almost 20 years ago with José Andrea, which is the only legitimated voice to properly sing this song: ua-cam.com/video/MDgB-yNeZdI/v-deo.htmlsi=x9wD4AWzoLvpuC6J
