WOW ! HOW LONG ! HI THERE , FEELING GLAD YOU HERE AGAIN . I WAS MISSING YOU . THIS RIDE IS AMAZING ! I HOPE YOU ARE OK AND SAFED TOO . THANKS FOR SHARE . GOOD JOB ! KEEP SAFE .
Goede video, machinist Stefan.
Stefan, I felt sure I must have been riding along with you, back when this was recorded. But, in later versions, you have done more detail on diversions and viaducts and so on...so perhaps I had not seen this. Interesting the crossovers within the stations but I guess that is why the platforms are sooooo long to allow perhaps more than one train in at a time as necessary. Noticed some sections still with old sleepers or tags or whatever. Lots of replacement lines to go in or have already been replaced? Where does this line go from here? The sun was really BIG! Great views and scenery. Thanks again from Australia.
Hi Geoffrey! Yeah this is an old one. Also other color use in the video as you can see. If you've been looking at a video you should probably be able to find you comments underneath it. :) The platforms in the The Netherlands are so big because we have very long trains running during rush hour. Up to 325 meters long as one train set. :) I think you mean the old sleepers next to Sloterdijk? Those are now in use as a hotel. :) Don't know what line you refer to to be honest. :)
Hey Stefan. Very nice video. Such long rides are my favourite. It helps to pass the time. No better way than to travel virtually. Did they eventually manage to fix the faulty intercom, because of which you had trouble talking to the train manager? What about the faulty breaks at Den Haag Holland Spoor? Very risky to drive with faulty breaks as it could lead to a small mishap. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Hi there. :D Thank you so much again. No, the intercom wasn't fixed. Only reported to the technical support so they could let it be fixed later. The on board system was working, but not from that point in the train. The brakes worked perfectly. The problem was the braking system on the bogie under our cabin. When discharging the brakes the whole train discharged and after that the bogie under our cabin discharged the brakes. Should work immediately. No problems for the ride. If so, this recording would no have been recorded that day. :D Haha. Cheers! :)
Totally agree, starting in darkness with amazing stormy clouds giving way to a beautiful beautiful day - what wonderful way to begin a day at work! Singelgrachtrbrug is the name of the canal or ? When we start in almost total black darkness - can your EYES see the tracks better than the video camera can detect/see? ( I know you've said you don't really need to see the tracks.) Kind of amazing light show as we zoom along in the dark! How did someone "know" to have you wait for passengers arriving from the airport that they needed to transfer to your train? Probably because they would need to do that to go to Rotterdam? I think I could actually hear the "bogie" brake issue when sopping at Leiden! I saw you reporting the "bogie" issue on the platform on your cell phone - rather than communicate over a system on board the train? When you see "Temporary" VMax 80, is it possibly due to train traffic ahead of you? Why do you stop at Leiden Centraal with a Green signal with 8 displayed? I thought the Green was Go and the speed was 80km/h? What do the two side by side yellow blinking on/off lights mean (seen in the airport tunnel for one?). A caution of some sort I would guess. Thanks, Stefan, I truly appreciate your work and the opportunity to interact with you relative to what I see instead of just traveling along. Learning is fun.
Hi Paul! :D 1. Singelgracht is the canal. Brug means bridge. :) 2. With my eyes I can see a little more than the camera. But indeed, don't really need sight on the tracks. We can fully trust on the signaling. 3. Cool he. :D 4. We don't. We have loads and loads of trains running. If you miss it, you just take the next one. :) Time is time. We don't wait for passengers. If we would do that non of the trains would run on time. 5. Yeah, you can hear it on all the stops. It's the shissing sound you hear. :) 6. Yes, for technical support we just call with our work phone. :) 7. No, temporary speed limits always have a reason like problems with infrastructure or someting. :) In the case of Delft: The air pressure in the tunnel gets too high when entering on full speed. Until the 3rd and the 4th tracks are being opened in the tunnel we have this temporary 80km/h speed limit at the tunnel in Delft. 8. First of all: because we must make a stop according to schedule. The train dispatcher already set our path so we could enter the station on higher speed (green-8 instead of yellow). Green-8 indeed means Vmax 80km/h. :) 9. That's a caution for railroad workers. :) If there's a train coming over that track the lights are blinking. My pleasure Paul. :D Have a great day! :D
Hi Jan! You mean the fact that a platform track can be shared by two trains at the same time? We have that at most of our bigger train stations. So we have two sides (a and b) for passengers on those stations.
Hoi!
Hey Stefan, You should be happy that the passenger numbers are picking up. I don't know how many times I've said this but it feels great to keep saying it: "Your videos always bring excellent content, quality, and efforts! Always a joy and pleasure to watch. I must say the first train really sounded awful. The second one sounded prefect. Got a few questions for you: How many carriages did the 1st train have? What about the second? How about a video of HSL from Amsterdam to Eindhoven (I probably misspelled)? How many years were you driving trains?
Hi Sam! :D I added the links for more information to the descriptions today. Forgot about them yesterday... sorry. :D The first train had six carriages, the second four. I don't drive a lot of train between The Hague and Eindhoven (spelled correctly). But when I do I'll remember to get my camera again for you. :D I drive trains for five years in total within a month to be exact. :D
No bright ones. Not needed as well. :) The more modern train have bright lights installed. But we never use them when it's dark. All we need is sight on the signals for a safe journey.
Always welcome to visit our country and take a ride on my train. 😁 As passenger of course. 😉 But I can show you the cabin at a longer stop-over if there's time.
Hi Julian! :D Thank you so much! My holiday was perfect, thanks! :D Until the last week when I got sick (no Covid btw). As of Monday I started working again.
