I think he can see certain colors, but they're in the wrong place. Like, green is red and vice versa or something like that? Kind of like dogs? And then the glasses make the colors go to the right places. I think that's how it works.

As a photographer and an artist, I can not imagine a colorblind life! I am so happy to see that those who are colorblind have a chance to see life as it should be seen. Imagine seeing a blue sky for the first time, purple mountains off in a distance, floral colors jump out at you in a florist's shop. I feel for every one of them and it's great to know they now have an option (IF they can afford them).

I’ve seen so many comments like “How can he tell the colors of he’s never seen them before?”. I am partially colorblind and also got these glasses so let me explain. Not sure if it’s exactly like the kid in the video but for me, i can see color but when 2 colors are very similar like blue and purple or red and orange it’s hard to tell the difference. The glasses make everything brighter and stand out so it’s so easy to tell differences and see the color. Anyway, hope i helped and answered any questions!

I'm not colorblind, but that feeling when you're finally able to do something that you haven't been able your whole life is simply unmatched. I remember when I was able to run for the first time, I felt like I could take on the sun in a one-to-one duel.

When your colorblind everything looks tinted and looks alike making hard to distinguish colors but still able to, the glasses don’t make him see colors like we do there still tinted the same way but it increases the saturation on some colors making him able to distinguish colors easier.

As someone with a red-green colorblindness, it is awesome to see kids like him getting colorblind glasses. I have a pair that I share with my brother, and they work pretty well. If you are colorblind, I would totally recommend getting them

So many people saying this is fake... You do know that colour blindness is a spectrum, right? When someone says they are colour blind, they don't ONLY see black and white. This kid can probably see most colours, but to him they are muted. Like if you took everything and put a gray filter over it, and turned the saturation way down. He's been obviously been taught what colour looks like what, even if they are weird to him, so when he see's these colours, they are vibrant and bright. It's like brushing the dust off of an old photo, suddenly everything becomes a little more clear, brighter, and vibrant.
So you're saying that you must need some type of surgery in order to see better for everything? Darn, I guess my corrective glasses with a built in sun lens, a blue light filter that protects my eyes from computer light and adjusts the major difference between my eyes to balance it out so I can see- is just fake. According to you. Huh.
[JethroBombs] the inability to see certain colors is not the same as your lens being misshapen. This comment is really stupid. The issue is with the amount of cones in your eye. Glasses won't add more cones to your eye.
Alright Mr/Mrs smarty pants. Here's what I know about lens that change colour hues. Most people have three cones, and most colour blind persons have THREE cones. Each cone is one of three colours, red, blue and green respectively. When light rays of those three colours enter your eyes, you brain works out which light ray goes with what cone, thus being able to see all colours perfectly fine.
However, a colour blind person (who is red/green, in this example), has their red and green cone over lapped, this creating a dull and false colour hue for them. Red/green colour blind people often see more shades of yellow, and brown, with the actual vibrancy being turned down as well.
So how do the glasses work? Well, when the entire spectrum of light hits the lens, the lens itself omits several of the incoming rays. The output of colour to your eye is adjusted so that the red and green cones appear to be less mixed, and that makes it easier for the brain to receive those colour signals. Thus resulting in the wearer to see more colour hues, with an added vibrancy to them.
If us non-colour blind people wear them, we will actually see colours "pop", as if the world became OVER saturated. I will point out that these glasses do not work for everyone, and there are different types of colour blind people, and different types of glasses will adjust the colours different depending on the person.
A colour blind person will see roughly between 10,000 an 100,000 colours. People who are not colour blind will see roughly 1 million to 6 million colours. People who have 4 cones, (tetrachromacy), see well into the 10 millions of colours.
Do your research before you go calling a comment stupid, simply because you failed to learn the difference between fact and fiction.

Just because you wrote an essay on the topic just now doesn't mean what your saying is correct. Give me an hour. I'll do my research and get back to you with the reason why this is bullshit.
Firstly, you mis-read that section. Colour "pop" when NON-colour blind people wear the glasses, I was simply adding some perspective.
Also, you can't change fact, so by all means do your research and if you make some amazing scientific discovery that no one knew about along the way, then congrats you win!
