I was born in 1973 and raised on absolutely world class British children`s TV content, Tony Hart, Johnny Ball, Blue Peter, Jackanory etc, I feel lucky & privileged to have witnessed this golden age at first hand...
I always saw him as the David Attenborough of art. Used to love Hartbeat Like someone says below he had a very soothing voice. I can listen to him all day. Still can't understand why he never put my brother's excellent picture of 7Zark7 from Battle of the Planets up in The Gallery though.
Tony Hart was a proper gent, war time generation, public school etc. What was interesting was that he was happy to use modern technology like computerisation in the 80s to stay relevant and keep his tv career..
I've just discovered Tony Hart and his work. Vision On, Hartbeat and Take Hart were long before my time, but watching him now is wonderful. He seemed like such a lovely soul, I can absolutely see why he and his work appealed to so many people when they were young.
killwill83 lol I saw the comment, and my comment, and the video thumbnail, I had absolutely no recollection of this comment I made, until I watched the video again 👍🏻😂 Quite ironic that I’ve been searching for “TISS U’s” every weekend for the past 6 weeks 😂😂😂
Ach, why did I watch this, makes me very sad remembering what we had back then. Loved Tony Hart, he was a fine fellow and an inspired broadcaster. Never put my picture on The Gallery though...
Loved this programme, loved Tony Hart and this just came into my mind how much this inspired my love of art. Forever grateful to Tony, this programme and of course Morph ❤❤
Used to love this as a kid. Late, great Tony Hart had a wonderfully effortless presenting style. You felt that he had a limitless understanding of art and design.
Brilliant children's programs. Vision on and Take art. Shame they don't make kids programs like this anymore! Now there just junk. Bring back these kind of programs to our screens.
Ingenuity at the time we saw Mr Tony Hart in the early 80’s CREATING IN ART. seeing it now is so therapeutic especially after COVID-19. It helped me calm down like it was those days. Thank you BBC
Tony Hart was so amazing. I loved watching him. What a lovely way to start my day with some Tony Hart art inspiration before going to the workshop and making some of my own. Thank you Tony. ❤
Gonna keep my mum notified about all theses. She says “It brings back memories.” and “I used to love watching this.” She loves watching it and finding it all so relaxing
used to watch this all time as a kid....brings bk a ton of memorys....i remember sendin a drawing off once hopin it would be shown in the gallery part but was never shown, was gutteeeed ha.
I wasnt great at art but I sure tried :-) rushed home from school every day during the 80's to watch it. RIP tony hart. gone but absolutely never forgotten
An officer in the Gurkhas of course. Went into a pub in Stoney Stratford just outside Milton Keynes many years ago, called The Bull. (there was another pub just down the road called The Cock, where we get the famous saying from) and Tony had been in there and did them a fantastic little picture of a waiter serving up a very annoyed and very alive Bull on a silver platter. The caption read something along the lines of "Is this rare enough for you sir".
He's so clever my mum used to watch this when she was a child coz I'm 11 years old love the title music computers seem so old fashioned in this I like this show
Probably completely wrong, but are the bits on the opening titles (from 0:20) where Tony Hart is sketching filmed in Thamesmead? The bit where he's on the roof (0:22) looks like the old Pyramid Club and the road at 0:23 reminds me of the Bentham Road/Carlyle Road end of the estate.........
Never again will we have programmes like this...Never in this life...Poor kids today just have their ipads etc. My 8yo nephew just laughed at this when I showed it to him :(
I really miss a lot of shows from this era. Educational, not flippant or patronising. Kids shows were about learning morals and how to deal with situations
I don't know the track but it could be this guy, who composed the gallery theme. The piece at 2:00 sounds similar in style to the pieces on his two "Serendipity" collections ua-cam.com/channels/zy4KmOArAynSsrSbNACWdg.htmlplaylists
It was great that they shot these shows in Tony Hart's own flat. It felt more personal when he was teaching art in his home surroundings. You noticed that he didn't hang netcurtains on his windows so you could get some views outside his house and maybe some neighbours could glance in and see him at work.
At the start, when the word LIGHT is being written on that monitor, I thought it was writing the word UGLY up until it reached the cross part of the letter H. :-/
I mustn't have heard this theme tune for over 20 years. Just heard it again now for the first time - god it takes me back!
Educational but not patronising, what a good man.
Children’s TV was great when I was little. I love this show. RIP Tony Hart. Thank you

Good man. I agree. He came across as a person who cared about society. I loved his programmes. He was very talented too.

Brilliant show and great man. Gotta love his perfect spoken English. "TISS U"

Tony was such a lovely guy! And well spoken too unlike some presenters today lol!
In those days it was normal for BBC presenters to be well-spoken. Now they favour regional accents and/or people with sloppy diction.
Lovely programme. I have fond memories of it. Tony Hart was great. Had a nice soothing voice too. And Morph. Thanks for uploading.
Used to love this as a kid. Late, great Tony Hart had a wonderfully effortless presenting style. You felt that he had a limitless understanding of art and design.
Shows like this and art attack made me love art at school, thank you.
I just had an art attack 😂😂😂😂😂

Can't believe where the time has gone, it's now march 26 2020 and we all wish we could go back to the 80s,man life was so much easier then
I couldn't draw a straight line when I was young, but loved this show!
well that's just pathetic
Brilliant children's programs. Vision on and Take art. Shame they don't make kids programs like this anymore! Now there just junk. Bring back these kind of programs to our screens.
Absolutely love this show 30 or so years on. What a great man. And what great art!
Ingenuity at the time we saw Mr Tony Hart in the early 80’s CREATING IN ART. seeing it now is so therapeutic especially after COVID-19. It helped me calm down like it was those days. Thank you BBC
This was REAL TV, adults and kids learned so much from Tony. Thank you for such good TV.

Tony Hart was so amazing. I loved watching him. What a lovely way to start my day with some Tony Hart art inspiration before going to the workshop and making some of my own. Thank you Tony. ❤
i cryed when i heard tony heart died...he was a magical part of my childhood

I met him in an Aberdeen bookstore in 1998. He drew me a flying pig on the same sheet as a drawing of my character. Lovely chap.

Gonna keep my mum notified about all theses. She says “It brings back memories.” and “I used to love watching this.”
She loves watching it and finding it all so relaxing
Quote from mum after I read the end of the comment. “I do!”🎉🎉

Wonderful memories of myself and my two daughters watching Tony Hart's 'Hart Attack' programs.

Oh gosh how i miss seeing Tony Hart !!!
Intro...........and it all came back. He always had a relaxed approach too.
Such a lovely guy, with a wonderful demeanour.
Such a big part of my childhood. Inspired me so much.
This was much better than that other Hartbeat on ITV that had nothing whatsoever to do with art
i used to love this show, makes me want to be a kid again!!
Bringing back memories
That music was so space age! 😆 I don't remember Tony Heart looking like the Blue meany either.... 😯
it was a sad day when this man passed away....rip legend
Love Tony Hart, bit shocked at how camp he is, never realised that at the time.
I always thought of him as your typical art lovely. In fact, he's mannerisms is quite stereotypical for the time lol
They say that Andi Peters use to live In Tony's Broom cupboard, I don't know how much truth there was in this rumour, but I for one believe it 🙄
I'm sure Andi Peters came out of the closet eventually!
Wonderful man, he truely was
He's so clever my mum used to watch this when she was a child coz I'm 11 years old love the title music computers seem so old fashioned in this I like this show

The clowns were Zippo & Tommy & Stix. Zippos Circus is now Britains best loved traditional circus, see zipposcircus.co.uk
haha, the wine gum can be thrown away into my mouth
Toe knee heart, I still remember. R.i.p 🎨🖌️🖍️🙂
Who got ASMR from this?
Nah but it did give me AIDS
Yeah I definitely did. I also did as a child, but we didn’t have a word for it back then. Loved children’s TV back then.
Absolute Ledgend!!!!!
Brilliant
Totally bonkers but woke up this morning humming the theme tune 🤷♂️
Exactly why I’m here now.
Never again will we have programmes like this...Never in this life...Poor kids today just have their ipads etc. My 8yo nephew just laughed at this when I showed it to him :(
Accidentally picks up the piece of glass thinking it's the wine gum and chews on it
If today's kids had educational programmes of this quality......
I really miss a lot of shows from this era. Educational, not flippant or patronising. Kids shows were about learning morals and how to deal with situations
My childhood ASMR.
educational asmr... they don't make shows like this anymore
That clown part was wonderful
Good
Does anyone remember what morphs friend was called
Chas
@Cricket Explained Thank you. Very best wishes, David
can anyone id the library music that plays from 2:00 onwards?
I don't know the track but it could be this guy, who composed the gallery theme. The piece at 2:00 sounds similar in style to the pieces on his two "Serendipity" collections ua-cam.com/channels/zy4KmOArAynSsrSbNACWdg.htmlplaylists
It's a track entitled South Wind composed and played by David Owen Smith.
this guy teached me how to draw.
SprynxFusion Clearly not how to spell

Tony's flat aka BBC Television centre. It was shot in the same Studio as Play School.
