I've flown so many waypoint missions in the first month of Mini 4 Pro ownership I've nearly equalled how much I flew the Mini 3 Pro in the first year I had it. They are just so easy to create and then fly so smoothly it's brilliant. I've been working on a project filming areas near me in different seasons and I plan to cut them together with the video snapping between seasons and times of day.
It's nice to see DJI recognizing the need for this functionality. I hope they can add more features so it can replace Dronelink since they have locked the API on the new controllers. A big feature I would request is the ability to create waypoint missions from my computer prior to flight.
@Solz217 - awesome. Thats way more what i hoped itd do than having to fly it first like in video. This is probably good too especially for fancy footage scenes but not so good for my main purposes. Ill try and research how to do that. Thanks again. Loving this little drone, its what hoped the other 1-3 would be. ))
Great video! One question -you touched on it briefly… When I save the waypoints and come back later, will the drone position itself exactly like I planned before using GPS and/or Height data? My goal is to fade between shots taken different seasons so I need perfect alignment. Thanks so much!
Yes, more or less. Im not sure how accurate it is in real use over time when the ground changes(snow/mass movement etc) but in theory it should be in the exact same spot when you select the mission
I wish there was a desktop flight planning mode.... such as planning the flight, waypoints, etc on the desktop, upload it to the controller, then fly it.
Hi, thanks for the video. But I have a question. Is this drone able to create waypoint by input the certain coordinate (longitude & lattitude data)? Thanks
nice video but i would be lying to say i understood everything. how did the drone keep the focus on you ? did you use POI setting or some tracking mode? thanks for your time to explain it all. i am new to mini 4 pro so no waypoint experience yet
I really like waypoints with my new mini 4 pro, but I’d love to be able to setup waypoint mission planning on my PC using Google Earth (or its equivalent). Do you know if there’s any way to do that?
Thanks for the great video. Does the waypoint save in the controller or the drone or both (on the RC 2)? I’m thinking if you could save waypoints to the controller, you could fly that same route with a different DJI drone that perhaps has different camera attributes.
waypoint issue , flying from a low hight waypoint 1 to a higher waypoint 2 , the Mini 4 takes a downwards curve from 1 to 2 , same as it takes an outwards curve when doing corners , that could easy lead to a loss of the drone i,e taking it too low crossing over a road or a river with trees on the bank , I just want it to take and upwards slope when low to high , oh and maybe a new option for straight line changes where it pauses then turns towards the next point , same as the choice Litchi gives you.
great video, thanks! Is it possible to save multiple flight paths? So e.g. have 5 waypoints around my home to film in different seasons which does not get deleted when creating a different set of waypoints for e.g. hiking like in the video?

1) Can waypoints be created in advance on either the controller or on the computer? I use an entire Plus battery just setting up waypoint flights in the field. Then I have to fly back to me, change the battery, then go fly the mission. 2) How do I cache map data on my RC2 controller before I go fly, since I may not have internet in the field? 3) If I am in a hotel or public wifi that requires a login to join first, how do I enter credentials on the controller. I can find and join networks, but it is not asking me for the credentials that I can see. So it just sits there and never connects.
I saw someone's video showing that waypoints are saved so that you can use them again in future. So although you have to do them with the drone, and exhaust one battery, you can then return drone, replace battery and fly the mission for real with a fresh one.
Excellent video! I've inquired with others, but I'm still uncertain about the correct answer. If you've saved a waypoint path, but your takeoff point is different the next time, let's say 10 meters away, will the drone return to the precise original location and angles, please?
Hi rob I follow your videos as I’ve just got a mini 4pro but I can’t seem to get it to record to the memory card,so I have to use the app & switch function all the time to get the video’s. Is there a setting I’m missing? Thanks
Have you changed the setting on the controller to sd card? You can also try to fill up the internal storage and see if it switches to the sd card when full, if not, there might be a faulty unit
@@RobHK yes it is switched to the left side in the setting for the memory card. I will continue to test it,if it doesn’t work I will contact Dji. Thanks for the reply
As far as flight characteristics....after setting 1st point....if you fly sideways will it fly sideways to next waypoint or fly forward then turn towards subject?!
@@RobHK OK thanks!!! I'm going to mess around with it tomorrow today I was trying out active track....so amazing being able to swoop around to the sides and even in front of the moving subject!!! Cant wait to learn waypoints
Great job and thanks for sharing. BTW I don’t know if anyone has ever told you but you look and sound very much like Lars Ulrich from the rock band Metallica. Uncanny.
Thanks for content. However, I am skeptical a $800 US drone is for beginners. Could be an expensive mistake if it breaks. I did not really understand what you were saying. Could be my skepticism of ease of use and setting GPS coordinates or way-points or better yet follow me feature.

Can the drone continue the waypoint route if signal is loss?
@@1EstebandProbably - it certainly can with Litchi waypoints.
This is exactly what I want to do with the Air 3 i just bought. Please can you share any waypoint videos you have created.

On the RC 2 Controller you can create Waypoints also before the flight without the drone turned on. That was not mentioned in the video :)

Who hikes in flip flops/sandals
So when you pin point the two waypoints and let the drone fly back to where the route starts, will it then take a video automatecally?

GPS ist not accurate enough for perfekt alignment.
Thanks for this. I was a bit nervous to mess with these.
What a powerful feature, it basically creates you cinematic movements without having to do it manually with your fingers.
Great great
That worked great! Played with it for several flights at the field.
Thank you for your video, I realized a beautiful shot actually took quite some 'staging' effort.

Hi, thanks for the video.
But I have a question.
Is this drone able to create waypoint by input the certain coordinate (longitude & lattitude data)? Thanks
hello Mister, first You have to walk with tracking mode with dron,o rYou can automatically set where to fly on gps by points??
Thanks for the video , really nice shots 🙂
incredible tips thanks mate!
What is the maximum speed you can set in waypoint mode (mph or m/s)? Also what trail is this? It's amazing.

thanks for your time to explain it all. i am new to mini 4 pro so no waypoint experience yet
When using spotlight mode can you use 4k 50p or is it still only 30p available at 4k?
I really like waypoints with my new mini 4 pro, but I’d love to be able to setup waypoint mission planning on my PC using Google Earth (or its equivalent). Do you know if there’s any way to do that?
Not that i know of which is a secure way. 🙁
Great video as usual.. Looks like so much fun. Out of all my drones I really like the Mini 4 Pro...

Thanks for the great explanation and inspiration.

but if you have obstacle avoidance on during the waypoint flight wouldn't that take care of obstacles?

Nice, thankyou👍
What editing software did you use?
Woww good drone..
Hasn't anyone figured out yet how to add a new waypoint before/between existing waypoints? Just like with Mavic 2.
Waypoint is more than air traffic control because its potential can navigate earth everymotion like spaceship
Did you bang up there? 😂

@@jbsworkshopI was having that problem, so I reformatted the card in the drone and that worked for me , just a thought
it's a shame that you can't prepare at home offline and then just fly it.
There are some options like dronelink or litchi, but I would love to see dji provide the features in its ecosystem
You can you need to use a separate app that you can do that.
As far as flight characteristics....after setting 1st point....if you fly sideways will it fly sideways to next waypoint or fly forward then turn towards subject?!
Depends on the angle of the next point you set. It want it to fly sideways both points need to be faced in the same direction
