Arlecchino isn't actually referring to Childe when making her comment about making the children cry. She says this because she runs an orphanage whose children will become trained Fatui under her command in the future. So yes she was saying this quite literally.
With how it cut to Childe right after, I think it's fair to say it's both. People can and do say things with multiple meanings.

the chessboard symbolism is most likely signifying that the signora's death isn't the end to the Fatui's ploy. In that scene, Signora is the pawn and it was knocked by the Knight/Horse, from that we can infer the Knight as Shogun's Gnosis piece set (since Scaramouche bail out with Ei's gnosis so the Fatui don't have it). So the whole scene implying that the Raiden took down Signora.

What I love about this teaser is, all of them come together which rarely happened, to pay respect to Signora(Rosalyne) especially Pierro.
While in lot of cliché villain organisation story, they just brush it off saying that "She's too weak" or something.
This show that they not 100% 'Bad Guy' and humanity of them.
I think they're never the bad guy to begin with. They're just following what they're believe

Divine Gaze is a not new term. Although in this context it is perhaps being referred to the Gnosis in Scaramouche's hand. The first time we heard (if my memory serves me right), "Divine Gaze" was from Yae Miko in Inazuma, that is how she referred to Visions.
The Chinese name for Visions also directly translate to Eye of God.
Yae Miko: But what people need from you is not your promises. They want your attention...your divine gaze.

Actually the word "children" Arlecchino mentioned doesn't refer to Childe but children in an orphanage she runs. You can get more details of Arlecchino and her orphanage from an Inazuma world quest. She intentionally stirs up wars in the seven nations and makes a lot of kids become orphans so that she can take them into the orphanage and train these kids to be the future Fatui. But anyway, if evil why not hahah

I can't argue with who now thinks the Electro Gnosis is a Knight cause this teaser got some sus stuff. But I'm still a bit more on the side of Electro being the Bishop cause Eternity is "nearest onto the heavenly principles" and it has a lot to do with time, so I kinda feel like the Bishop near the King piece fits a bit more. What I realize about the Harbingers is that they're basically the family that likes to fight and argue all the time but in the end they all what they got and still cares for each other.
And the one person that brings them together is Tsaritsa

It may even be an affirmation that the failure of the Tsaritsa herself won’t be enough to stop what she’s put into motion,
I'm willing to bet that they're morally grey and we'll kinda sympathize with them just like they did to World Serpent and Otto. "Villains" with depressing and relatable backstories.

This is my interpretation: The sages are probably some top rank people in Khaenri'ah that had a lot of knowledge and power. According to the Pale Flame set (Mask), the Jester tried to be one of them but failed to learn everything like they did. We learn that the Jester carries the burden of not being able to stop what the sages did to Khaenri'ah through acts of foolishness, which brought the sin and the anger of the gods. The Cryo Archon understood his pain and now he is devoted to her as a Fatuus (fool), mocking and laughing about Celestia's Heavenly Principles that defines fate to humans.
My guess is the chess board pieces represent the Fatui/Harbingers, the pawn that was knocked down was Signora, yes, then the knight piece that killed her was Ei, they don’t have her gnosis to replace the piece because obviously Scaramouche took it

2:00 i think the reason why arlecchino said "we dont want to make the children cry" is because she actually runs an orphanage in snezhnaya, and many of the children under her join the fatui when they grow up a little bc they look up to her. Shade to childe would've been reaallly funny but that's probably the more logical reason.

Pierro’s reference to sages were the sages of Khaenri’ah.
Based on his eyes and his attire with the mask he is from Khaenri’ah.
He calls the actions of the sages that led Khaenri’ah to be folly.
To be honest, I cannot say what the motivations are of the Fatui. But I can say this, they do not like Khaenri’ah.
Pierro considers them to be hostile and hates the sages that led Khaenri’ah to its destruction.
Signora actively attacked them during the Cataclysm to avenge her fallen lover.
Childe fell into the Abyss and so has hostility towards the Abyss Order.
He stated that the Ruin Guards and the Abyss are just as their enemies than anyone else.
So why does it seem that the Tsarista and the Abyss seem to have similar goals against the rule of Celestia?
Perhaps their motivation. The Abyss Order wants retribution and wants to destroy Celestia. But my theory is that the Tsaritsa wants action from Celestia.
She wants to acquire the divine power to destroy the enemy from Beyond.
What is that enemy? The same enemy that launched Enkanomiya into the sea and destroyed the original era. The Second One who came or perhaps that one’s will still is present.
Celestia is just containing the enemy but is not trying to defeat it.
Honkai. That is what we are dealing with.
Genshin and Honkai’s Impact’s core lore are the same.
Children refers to the orphans. Which is a hidden world quest i suggest you try it because it's really good.
My take on when he said checkmate will not be where the game ends is that they will fight till the very last pawn, there's no turning back or calling a game early. Also suddenly remembering Dainsleif saying "none shall escape the flames" at the beginning of teyvat chapter preview. It sounds like they're on the same topic.

Y'all may think this means Sumeru is gonna be nuts, but this is more like a teaser for Snezhnaya. This is doing what Travail did, meaning most of the stuff teased isn't gonna happen until much later, especially if the blonde dude is a Khaenri'ahn. That being said, Dottore and Scaramouche are most likely gonna be featured in Chapter 3, which is indeed pretty hype, especially if both of them die. :)
Also, I wanna answer UD's question about why would the blonde dude side with Tsaritsa instead of the Abyss Order. Well, think about it, the Abyss wanna destroy everything. During We Will Be Reunited, we saw that they wanna create artificial gods that they can control and use to kill the Archons and/or the Sustainer. Their methods are extreme, which is why Dainslief isn't with them either. Why Tsaritsa, then? Well, remember that Tartaglia says something like Tsaritsa being the most gentle soul he's ever known. The Cryo Archon isn't hateful and vengeful, those aren't her main emotional traits. Blonde Dude says it too in this trailer, Tsaritsa is benevolent. That's not him being brainwashed or anything like that, especially if he's from Khaenri'ah, that's just him having his loyalty given to an ex-member of Celestia. Tsaritsa earned that with how good she is as a person.
Collei is SO CUTE! I want to put her on a team with Amber and have them fighting together!

This is making me remember a scene in Honkai, where Fuhua talked to Himeko about "sacrifice is inevitable", which our red-head Sensei replied: "You really don't know what "sacrifice is inevitable" means, girl."
It's kinda true, since we can see all the Fatui keep saying about sacrifice this and that for Tsaritsa's "noble and purest dream." All their actions affected too many people, even destroying their lives and family around. Those people are not given a choice, they were forced by the Fatui to "sacrifice" which is so wrong in many levels.
"What's tragic is not how many people have sacrificed, but the thought of sacrificing people makes one think it's necessary."
Celestia is even worse though

The palace that got encased in ice is one for one recreation of 'Cathedral of Christ the Saviour' in Moscow. Legitimately didn't expect to see something like this.

So about this whole checkmate and Signiora - in Hoyoverse style, I do belive that it has more layers of meaning, however one of the meaning is definitely NOT Signiora's comeback, I'm sorry to all ppl hoping for that.If anything, it seems to suggest that Signiora's death is not the end of their plan, and even without her they will achieve their goal, which would make sense, seeing how powerful they are.

My idea for the harbinger that might be from Khaenri’ah I think he’s the a first harbinger and if that’s the case he would have been brought into the Fatui before or during the cataclysm which means the abyss order wouldn’t exist yet if our timeline from Señora is to be believed.

Collei's voice is by Wendy and Tighnari is Raven/Natasha Cioarra from Honkai Impact 3rd!!!!!

For one, it means they wouldn't fight Zhongli and nobody wants to do that anyways.

This can also be interpretation thatsince one of their own had been killed (as such they have no love for her nor does she her people) thus could be taken the tsaritsa does in fact have a deep love for her people but no one else.
Which could mean. Instead of diplomatic and less brutal force to take gnosis. The nation of sneznhaya (Tsaritsa)is declaring war against everyone. And will take the gnosis by lethal force. Dead or alive.
Because Signora did warn Ei that the TSARITSA will take the actions of any nation as a declaration of war if ANY of her people (or harbingers) are harmed in any way or killed.

When they said “Divine Gaze” I thought it just meant going up against an archon. I feel like I remember someone saying “Divine Gaze” in reference to the Raiden Shogun.
Bro I wanna give you so many additional info about the harbingers but technically you havent dont many quests yet so probably many would count as spoilers. We don't even need to look into the leaks for their info. The game itself gave us all of their names and some points/hints about their personalities.
Moreover if u watch the trailer again later then do check the chessboard few more times and the positions of the pieces. Those themselves give lots of theorycrafting ideas about the plot.
I have a gut feeling that our Lost Sibling, Lumine/Aether the current Princess/Prince of the Abyss Order, and the Tsaritsa's Fatui will one day work together to bring down Celestia since their objectives are sort of aligned.

Two things I wanted to point out. First the "checkmate is not where the game ends" is a metaphor meaning when the game (collection of the gnosis or possibly the war with celestia) ends, the world continues on. So the loss of life is unexeptable because they are needed to continue on in the aftermath or possibly as soldiers in the war, so they can't loose members before the war even begins. Second the little girl and the golem is speculated to be the intelligence operative of the fatui as she controls robots such as ruin machines and the Catherine clones. Funny subtext to that is that she knows child spars with the traveler and destroyed the factory child's storyline quest calling it a "toy factory" and hates him for it as indicated by his voice line about her in game.
This burning giant tree makes me think, that Sumeru(main city exactly) will be set on a fire. And Collei saw it. Vision of future?
Considering the white pieces are the Archons and the black pawns are the Harbingers, I'm wondering if this chessboard is the "game" of collecting the gnosis, and the war to follow is the one with Celestia.

I think the tree on fire is a reference to sumeru because the music changes to more of a sumeru ost when they show that part if the screen (all speculation of course)

What if this Harbinger (Capitano) at 2:15 is Bloodstained Knight? The mask from this set (genshin.honeyhunterworld.com/img/art/a_23348.png) has some similarities with him. And according to set's lore, he hid his face so as not to frighten the people he was protecting - his face is hidden by the darkness. His name was White Knight, and he was one of the Knights of Favonius, owned The Black Sword, and witnessed unfair destruction of Khaenri'ah (the story of the Black Sword).
