Adam, slight clarification. @ 12:55 when you were speaking about “Platform Developer” suggesting this is “declarative,” the actual certification which is mostly aligned to that term is the “Platform App Builder.” Platform Developer is more about Apex & Visualforce, etc.

Awesome. Hope this helped inspired you to extend your experience and look towards a salary increase, either through new certification or moving roles. Highly recommend the Salesforce Consultant cert as that opened the door to higher roles and the contractor market for me (although consultancy perm work is still great when you consider the health, dental, bonus, sick and holiday pay, pension, etc). Best of luck :)

Hi Adam, thank you so much for this video! I recently applied for a solution engineering role with Salesforce and I was wondering if the salary expectation is similar to a consultant?
Hi there,
To be honest the names of the roles do change a bit so not 100% on the responsibilities of that one, but if you send me the link to it I can have a look or you can try GlassDoor to find out an average from people in the company. My gut feeling is that it would be about the same or slightly more. Although 'Consultant' salaries can range quite a bit.

Hi Adam, I'm working as a Configuration Engineer for Huawei from the last 5 years. The CPQ which Huawei use is not from salesforce. I don't know if my configuration skill will help me out to get job in some other company. Please suggest me a way or any certification so that my career may not get stuck in just one company. Hi there, for sure. Most of the skillset for a successful consultant/admin would be understanding the BA side of the job (taking requirements and applying it to a solution in the tool). I would recommend the simple Admin certification to start with. If not already, get on Trailhead and look for the certifications page and work through the suggested material that you can do in your own time :)
And would developer be next for remote opportunities
Sure! essentially any role will be able to do remote. Personally I have been remote from 2008 and just travel into see clients arbout one a month on average, whether that be in another country or city. I've also done roles from Consultant to developer to solution architect.
Is it easier to get a first job as a developer higher demand?
It really depends on where you are I think. One good way to find out is look at your local country job postings and see the frequency of Salesforce jobs. If the majority are for a specific level (e.g. Admin) AND they have been on there for a while, then it's likely there is a demand for that role. I think personally, just go for a role you are most comfortable with/happy with/know the most and as long as you're a nice person to work with and you know your stuff, the jobs will come! I have heard that in the UK there is a bit of a saturation of people becoming Admins and not enough jobs to fill (but that is a rumour). So dev could be a good route for sure. Having dev also means you can do Admin too...so opening up both possibilities.
Can I become a freelance salesforce administrator?
Yes of course. It's worth finding out if there are Salesforce recruiters in your country/area that deal with Salesforce contracts first (like Mason Frank in UK and US). There are fewer roles that are contract (more for permanent roles) so will be harder, but I've seen rates from £250-£350 for admin contract roles in the UK. Best of luck!
