    (Steamed) Broccoli
    Ingredients
    • 1 head of broccoli or 1 broccoli crown
    • Extra Virgin Olive oil (enough to drizzle)
    • Salt to taste
    • Water as required.
    Process
    • Wash the broccoli and cut it into sections (each piece should have a floret and stem attached)
    • Put water into a pot, about ½ inch (12 mm) deep.
    • Place broccoli in the pot.
    • Bring the water to a boil, then place a lid on the pot and continue to cook/boil, for 3 minutes, with the lid on.
    • After 3 minutes, shut off the stove burner and just let rest for 5 minutes, in the pot, with the lid still on.
    • Remove the broccoli, season with salt to taste and drizzle extra virgin olive oil all over
    • Serve and enjoy.
Note: if you have a steamer, follow the same 3-minute rule and 5 minute rest period

Ok, I did try it tonight. Honestly,.... it was terrific! The oilve oil added so much flavor along with salt to taste, I loved it. Thanks again for another suggested way of cooking broccoli. 👍👍

Thank you, Ivo. I usually add Maggi seasoning and roasted sesame seeds to my steamed broccoli, but will try your recipe because it looks simple and delicious.

I’ve been following your channel since its beginning when your wife Laura mentioned it on her SewVeryEasy channel. On a personal note, I’m curious what you did/do for a living before you started the channel. You are a man of many talents in the kitchen. Do you do most of the cooking at home? I enjoy each episode!! 😊

So glad to hear this!! Fantastic that you have been following since Laura mentioned it. I've been in management for basically all of my Career and even wrote a book on management as well :) Yes, I do all the cooking and also have a small fishing lure business - needless to say, I'm very busy, but love to cook (as you can probably tell 🙂) and love to share my recipes 👍👍

You should wash with Dawn Soap to remove the “ stuff “ sprayed on for shipping. Water will shed off with it present. The Dawn, Baking Soda, Vinegar wash will remove this. You can see how rinsing it has changed.

When a chemical is FDA approved to be put into our diet it is only tested as toxic in an acute exposure. ( poison that kills you )
The chronic exposure is tested over time. It is a slow process for this to ever reach the court system and be removed from our diet. So be careful about these new wonder chemicals that preserve food for shipping and sale.

I would have taken the broccoli out after 2 or 3 minutes. That's going to turn mushy, like frozen broccoli.

    • @CookingwiththeCoias
      @CookingwiththeCoias  2 місяці тому +3

Actually, I hope you were able to see that the broccoli was not mushy at all, but if you want to take them out after 2-3 minutes instead of 5, they will still be very good and a bit firmer 👍👍 Thanks for writing in

@@CookingwiththeCoias Those big, beautiful THICK stems would take a min or 2 longer to cook, just like you did, Ivo -- and to perfection! Nothing like *fresh broccoli cooked just right. I cook alot of broccoli and, in my 65 yrs, I don't believe I ever put olive oil on it.. Definitely going to try! I'm sure I'll love it! Thanks, Ivo. Another perfectly prepared food.
