- Jayson Tatum scored 22 points, Derrick White added 20 and the Boston Celtics showed their championship makeup down the stretch with a 112-105 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night in a matchup of the Eastern Conference's top teams.
The defending NBA titlists executed in the final minutes and held off the Cavs, who lost for just the fourth time in 28 home games.
Kristaps Porzingis added 19 points and Jaylen Brown 16 with nine rebounds as Boston won its fourth straight and improved to 2-1 against Cleveland this season.
Donovan Mitchell scored 31 points and Darius Garland 25 for the Cavs, who cut a 15-point deficit to four in the fourth quarter.
But the Celtics, who have won four straight, didn't buckle and responded in every crucial moment to put away the Cavs.
Jarrett Allen had 17 points and 18 rebounds for Cleveland. | www.espn.com/n...

I'll say it again: if you can't win, rebound or play defense without Dean and Isaac, we have BIGGER problems than we think.
The Cavs did win, rebound and play defensed without Wade and Ɔkoro.
The Cavs need 2 pieces imo. Another big wing and a 4/5 that can be the 3rd big, shoot and play along side the bigs.
Facts
Cavs are the 3rd best team in the league. I don't think they can beat a healthy OKC or Boston in a 7 game series
Niang cannot play in the playoffs im sorry
At all. His minutes HAVE to be replaced by bigger, better, more athletic.
thought they would part ways with him last year. Too slow, too short and too weak. If he's not hitting 3s, he's literally useless.
Yup I’ve been pounding the table to trade him for Larry Nance because Atleast Nance can give you minutes, play defense and rebound with size and length
Also puts the Cavs below the luxury tax
Where’s all the don’t make a trade it’ll mess up the chemistry people
This is the Guardians vs. Yanks discussion from last year... at the trade deadline, the Guards had the best record, but, some of us said that if you want to beat the Yanks, you need to make a significant upgrade and get home field. Well, they came back with "don't be silly, we are a well run organization and are smarter than everyone else", did next to nothing at the trade deadline, goofed around the last series, lost home field, and proceeded to get destroyed by the Yanks in the playoffs. If this team is happy with just winning a playoff series or two, and getting destroyed by Boston, OKC, or even New York, do nothing. If they are serious about winning a title, a significant move needs to be made.
I love Mobley. But he was playing like he was intimidated by Boston. They are beatable because we have beat them. He had to build confidence and go to that rim.
The Cavs don't NEED a trade to compete for a title. But you can argue they are one move away from being the favorites
Tony respectfully brother there’s no way this team even prolly gets to the finals. Everybody is starting to get the chemistry having played together for months now since the start of the season. We started out hot. VERY HOT. But since then the season has and will continue to be harder and harder as we go if we don’t make that move pal! ✊
@@ehendo23gaming don't say anything bro IF Cavs stand pat they're be in Cancun come June
@@ehendo23gaming agreed, and now is when teams start to get serious. Don't be surprised if he Cavs collapse in the 2nd half, they do it every year.
The Cavs have a nice squad overall but in comparison with Boston they need that little extra bit to get over the Celtics. I believe they need to trade for someone who can match up defensively with Brown and Tatum on the perimeter and in the post.
Coming back from a twenty point deficit against a healthy championship team is amazing, it shows strength of mind and resilience, they were not shooting well and they played hard until the end, this a great team
No changes needed as far as players. The Cavs just need to realize they are not ready yet for a ring. Awesome team with less experience against an even better team. The result in a series is all but inevitable.
I've been saying this for years and everyone thinks I'm nuts, but Mobley is overrated. People hype him up so much because they want him so badly to be the second coming of Kevin Garnett but he is NOT THAT GUY. He's in year 4, I know he's young, but his motor is not really there and still has very little feel for the game, offensively. I'm not sure if that's something that can be taught. He looks lost out there most of the time. And the only rebounds he seems to get are ones where the ball bounces directly to where he's standing..
Haha good for you guys calling out Bull for being negative. As a person that can tend to be too negative myself we need that.
Come after the all star break we'll see what would come out of Cleveland. HOT TAKE? Cavs drop to the 2nd seed. Boston isn't too far behind especially now riding on a five-game winning streak.
So basically he's not a big time bright light player he only dominates when nothing is expected of him or when nothing's on the table. If that's true that's a problem because soft is soft and you can never win with soft.
Yes we need a trade or two... Probably have to wait til the off season though ....
I am officially giving up on LeVert when we got him I thought he would be a scoring impact bruh just a regular 10ppg player
Let's see what happened in the playoffs. That's what really matters
Disappointing. But I still have hope once we get Wade and Okoro back. Some easy shots just didn't drop. Headband Max Strus shouldn't be starting.
Because front court players matter find someone in G League you need the other guys not super star
Kosar and maybe Sipe should be mentioned
Boston is bigger and longer and have a 4 man front court rotation and they have nobody to guard brown who said last year they don’t have nobody to guard him now Milwaukee just copy that
Warfield should be higher
Brown is my favorite color. It's very woody
Trade for KD
Cavs overrated no bench no role players lmao look at the score box can’t wait till we lose in the 2nd or 3rd round again 😂😂😂
The Knicks are,a fraud, Bull? I hope you eat your words...
