- During the Kargil War 25 years back, K Nachiketa Rao, then a flight lieutenant with Indian Air Force, survived a tryst with death. Forced to eject from a MiG-27 fighter jet after its engine failed, he was captured as a Prisoner of War by Pakistan troops. He survived for eight days there before he was handed over to Indian authorities.

What a non sense question. Did they beat you with hands or sticks? He is a professional soldier and answering at his stature. Appreciated that he praised the enemy's captain politeness and showing respect.

The Army Capt who caught him was Capt Kamar Aziz who got killed by Indian Army few days later. He was newly married & have developed a rapport with Flt Lt Nachiketa.

I vividly remember this whole episode of our brave pilot, as if it was just a few yrs back, wondering if Vardhman incident happened earlier or Nachiketa???
I also remember, Nachiketa's birthday came while he was a captive in Pakistan, and his mother had baked a cake for him n the cake was sent over to him by our army authorities!!!
I m just an ordinary Indian citizen, very passionate about our soldiers, hence remember every moment of that time❤

Surab khalia was captured in the warzone by the so-called soldiers who are fighting in the front line, I am hundreds percent sure that if any pak officer gets caught by Indian army soldiers..they would have done the same., but there is a respect and understanding among the officers of both countries., they both go thru similar academies, they are truly gentlemen.

Just look at the title and listen to his story, there is hell of a difference. The Pakistani captain who saved him from an angry soldier during capture. Reminds me of a Pakistani captain who saved Abhinadan from angry kashmiri mob in 2019. Pakistan released Nachikeya while the war was still on show the humanity element.
I think he survived because he was caught by Pak army and they have a code which is usually followed, while there were some other India soldiers who died while being interrogated by the Jihadi's who were also present on the hills and they had the Indian personals eyes gauged out, skin pealed, nails removed and private parts damaged. This was during the initial phase of the war when the Indian govt did not know the extend of infiltration which had happened.
Simple Pakistan gives relief to Pilots because it is visible in international news and there is Geneva convection...Pakistan always dependent on dady USA..

GC Nachiketa presented good falsely narrates, but didn't tell the truth. A bad workman always quarrel with his tool.
There was an Indian army major who saved your pilot when he was shot down during 1971 war. That same pilot was chief of Pakistan Air Force during Kargil war. You might want to read up on that story.

The heights at kargil area is not very high compared to himalayan mountains.

but Pak went against the agreed norm by occupying Indian areas before end of winter.
and when our soldiers went there to resume taking charge of positions, they were fired from above.

The Pakistan officer did follow a code of conduct and saved Nachiketa's life from the other soldier. If not for that captain, Nachiketa wud have been meted out the same treatment as Captain Saurabh Kalia was.
