Not sure if you've tried it already, but for the bottom of the base, just try attaching more wall pieces below the upper ones. They should snap on and mesh into the ground and look much better than pillars or anything else

The steampunk pillars have another variant too where they mimic the stone columns of the walls. Makes the corners look way better from the outside and sorta works as a bottom for the wall's columns :)

Something he can do instead of those greenhouse doors is he could place ladders there & swap them to steampunk versions. The only problem is that he could accidentally run through them

This comment is going to sound ironic lol but why didn’t they make the other variants as an option in the skin instead of making you hold E on every single building pc.
I know you're usually not keen on long build videos but I love these personally! Ark can get so hectic that it's really nice to have a building episode, usually more chill, from time to time.
Ah yes my favorite episodes, the hour long build episodes. Genuinely love these this is not sarcasm
2:14 but the struggle with snap point placements is one of the funniest moments in these building vids. I find it especially amusing whenever you laugh after a structure gets misplaced😄

you can change the variant on the pillars to make it look like the stone on the steampunk walls, looks 10000% better
The steampunk does have glass but only for the ceilings tho. You have to cycle through the variants in the settings wheel.

The extra bulk on the stairs looks so good! The railings connecting them work so well too, I would've never expected something like that to actually work!
I think the steampunk sinks look really good, but the frontier set is legendary. The steampunk set is going for a very specific vibe, which makes it a bit difficult to just use in a build and make it look nice all the time, but the frontier set has this really nice look to it where it is essentially just wood+, you can use those skins on any build and it will look good.
Since it is such a lowkey vibe it also has the unique ability to seamlessly make any structure look like it's made of wood, like if you're at the very start of the game and wood is just too expensive, you can put the frontier skin on the thatch and make it look like you have a wooden house. Or if you're living in an exceptionally dangerous area and have to have a stone house but you still want the look of wood, you can again just put the frontier skin on and make your house look like it's made of wood
Name it The Overlook. Since your on a cliff above Axe. Also some white painted wall torches should suffice for lighting till you get around to making the electrical ones. And man permenant base building episodes have to be my favorite episodes of every series you make. Their always gorgeous and unique.

The steam punk looks even better when you find 2 colors you like together to paint it. That way the quarter walls do not look so plain.
If you have the resources, you could try putting walls around the outside of the foundations, then flip them upside down so the thicker ends are touching
think it would look nice if you dyed pipes and roof to orange. they would look like polished copper.
I'm only 5 minutes into the video, so I don't know if you figured this out, but a potential fix for your issue is changing the variant of the pillars. They have a stone version that works much better

Maybe put ramps to cover up that lip that sticks out over the foundation? I definitely think these were meant for metal walls/ceilings though. Once you get to that point I think making a whole steampunk factory could be really cool.
You could tame dung beetles for a bit of oil!
You can also try to paint the pipes you places a copper color, it could look quite good.

Don't worry about "building it perfectly the 1st time" syn. The only way to do that is with gcm and either reverse breaking things down trick or practicing a build before filming. We like you because you are playing the game and having fun. You talk your way through your process and make jokes to connect with your audience. That's why we watch you. Your fun and your builds are cool & unique.
Don't feel you have to change to please a small section of people, just be yourself. People love ya. It doesn't take a lot to figure out how to copy a build because of your progress thought segments, but your builds do inspire people to build cool things regardless. So don't feel pressed to do something ya don't want to do.

I remember some of the artifacts in ASE being wider than the pedestal, so placing them right up against a wall meant as the artifact spun it would phase through the wall. I'm not sure about Aberration's artifacts, but you might want to move the pedestal a little away from the wall to be safe.
the big open area on the second floor is perfect for your Gene Storage once you get there. It looks very nice and I love these longer build videos. I had no idea about the window variant on the roof piece! I wish they'd've made it easier to figure out the variants somehow.
If you install the gecko mod, you could place the gecko dossier-thing on the table in front of the chair to make it look like you're reading or writing it.
I feel like a good prank you could do on the other guys on the server is make a bunch of spotlights and hide them around projecting onto their bases.

The vibe I'm getting is the Weasley house (however you spell that) int he way that it widens with the funky lil peaks--looks good!
I mix and match the sets. The western window wall works well with the steampunk set.

You'd definitely want to use the stone variant on the vertical pillars in the corners with the steampunk walls.
I don't think syntac knows about the pillar variant and the ceiling variant with glass floor
The pillar variant looks soo good the stone much better looking than the gears and steamwork version

I think the Window Slope Roof looks good in the front staircase.
First time poster. It is fun to watch build episodes. Even if you make mistakes it doesn't make the video worst it makes them better. They feel more real and are easier to feel contacted to.
I feel like the room with the large vertical windows would be a better place for the Office/Study, mostly because it has a bit more room for the desk and chair. The current spot looks a bit cramped to walk around. Otherwise, I think the "port windowed rooves" should be at the top of the build.

You can switch the variant of the pillars to stone in the steampunk skin, works way better for outside of the building :)
The fencing is perfect in the Steampunk stuff. So pretty!!! If only the water tower could be a little more matchy. Would be pretty epic!!!! Very nice build Syntac!!!
The pillar skins have a stone variant that you can use to make the build look better, Jimbob has done that with his build at fertile lake

It's a very nice build. I'm not a builder in ark at all, but this gives me inspiration to try.
idk if you can place drawing paper on horizontal surfaces, but if you can, you should totally put a bunch of desks together or use a round table and use the paper to make blueprints and have it be an old fashioned drafting table. Even if you can't, blueprints would be a great use for the drawing paper.
btw, anyone else notice how the steampunk desk has a mechanism to tilt to make it easier to draw?
Love the build! An idea if you're not a big fan of the greenhouse doors - place a ladder in the tall doorway walls and put a steampunk skin on the ladder. Kind of looks like windows that works with the steampunk flare :)

My suggestion would be pillars around the outside corners on the bottom floor purely for decoration

For the window frames I found doing 2 sides wide beams and 2 sides thin works much better than all 4 being the same size.
Build wise (this is just from my opinion you can do whatever you want on builds) to avoid the meshing of window frames I usually go for the thin pillars as they work well with the frontiers skin to hide some crevices when working with green house glass walls (without the window skin) on the edges
Always putting up some really nice builds. However, IMO when looking at Steampunk art, the real challenge is to create very asymmetrical structures where it's almost like taking a regular building and constantly adding small, awkward looking extensions all over the place that have been added over a long period of time. Outgrowths if you will. Just something to consider....

I'd be happy with just a sped up ver with no sound, of you doing builds. Besides you can only truly learn from failure. On the skins for AB i feel like the ancient feel of them is more suited to scorched
