Thank you to my college friends from Olympia and Lacey to introducing me to Rancid back in 1995. Bought the CD in 95 and haven't looked back since.
One of the most unique voices one can ever hear... A great band to discover... Great songs! Thanks to the 90s music!
this album brings me back to my teenage years. no thought of the future, just enjoying and living my life. now I am married, divorced, married again and 3 kids. where have the years gone? lol
i dont know
Yeah, man. Mid 90s. Not a care in the world, broke af with nothing but a worn out skateboard, friends and girls. Seems like a completely different life. I still listen to the same music though, takes me back
Yes.
@Steve Stifler no man, keep your freedom
@Steve Stifler I do not but I have friends who do and most are fucking miserable
The opening riff I could listen to on a continuous loop. Idk why, it's so simple yet it's so fulfilling. Great album and yes every track is gold, from top to bottom, inside and out.
to me it sounds like the way i feel, driving on the highway to somewhere I want to go.
Do you hear the Ace Hardware jingle in the opening solo? I love it!
@@philiom7724LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤😂😂
hard to whistle 😚🎶🎸
Fun fact: I bought a secondhand copy of this album at the Half Price Books Outlet located in the same city as this song's title.
Hope you got your second hand copy from the half price books at a quarter of the original value my man?😀And if not we’re going back to Olympia
That's definitely cool
Gonna be a £100 pub quiz question one day 😂😂😂😂
"and for a stack, which punk album did I buy back in the mid 90's that has a title track from the city from which I bought it.. if you get it right.. I tell ya what I'll dubble tha!!" 😂😂😂😂
How dare you...
This was one of the stand out songs on the album when I first got my hands on it back in the mid '90s. Great time to be growing up.
I am in NYC for twelve hours today and yes I had to take a picture of 52nd and Broadway.
First Heard I was 13 on a punk o rama , pretty sure. By 20 could Play more of their songs than I can count on bass and guitar. Probably my go to artist since i was a kid and my introduction to Punk and I couldn't ask for a better band!
I miss oly
Sitting in Olympia right now listening to this..still love this song...
This is my favorite album of all time. Im still listen to it weekly 30 years later. That baseline thou!!!
You're not alone.
I will be traveling to Washington state soon and when I go to Olympia, this song will be playing on repeat.
this song can be put on while you are travelling anywhere, great song
@@hendrixj.8356 True. Sadly, "Journey to the end of East Bay" didn't go as planned. As it was too foggy to even see the East Bay. All great songs though.
As for me, I've listened to this album on repeat many, many times but didn't look at the track listings enough apparently, haha!! I had always just figured the 52nd and Broadway mentioned in the song was in Oakland. Now I know at least!
One of the best punk band in the world, punk, ska, good lyrics, when I listened let's go it changed everything, then when arrived and out come the wolves I was a teenage outcast ❤
One of the greatest punk albums of all time
2023 and this is still on my repeat playlist! 🥹
BAND paling berpengaruh di masa remaja saya , 97 mengenal rancid waktu di SMA kelas 1 .., heaalll yeaahhh ...
this memoir of a less glamorous past life rings true as pure gold.
Hangin' out with Lars down on 6th street
He knew that I was in trouble
I was feelin' much like the devil
There was something burnin' deep inside of me
Ran into three Puerto Ricans
These girls took us to the funhouse
Where we played a lonely pinball machine
Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of 'em seem to go my way
An' New York City
Well, I wish I was on the highway
Back to Olympia
I'm having a hard time understanding
It gets all too demanding
She's all gone and I'm stranded
Somethin' burning deep inside of me
All I know it's four o'clock and
She ain't never showed up and
I watched a thousand people go home from work, yeah
Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of 'em seem to go my way
Oh New York City
Well, I wish I was on the highway
Back to Olympia
How many times will it take me
Before I go crazy
Before I lose everything
Somethin' burning deep inside of me
Ran into three Puerto Ricans
Those girls took us to the funhouse
I don't wanna be alone again
Hangin' on the corner of 52nd and Broadway
Cars passin' by but none of 'em seem to go my way
Oh New York City
Well, I wish I was on the highway
Back to Olympia
oh thanks. i couldn't tell the lyrics through all the down syndrome.
Thank you man...Thats passion or alcohol...😂
🤘🏿
Köszi Haver!
I'm from Olympia and I LOVE this song
Loving it from NY too!
I’m from puyallup! I go to shows at white river amphitheater
This album made 96' so much more enjoyable. Thanks for the great memories boys 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Love this song. Love the NOFX cover too🤌🤌🤌
Oly native always gets the feels when they hear this song.
I started listening to OPIV in 1989 and when the first Rancid album came out in 1993 I was absolutely blown away and I still believe that album is by far one of the greatest punk albums ever. And every album after that was excellent as well in its own unique way.
Posso fechar os olhos e sentir aquela vibe dos 90 de novo. Saudades.
A must have album
this was my soul student album, always high and drunk passed all exsams and always be on here out come the wolves. golden times
"passed all exsams" eh?
This album was with me through my darkest days never even knew other people thought it was as good as I did
This is one of the most soulful punk albums ever written. The riff that bookends this song is the definition of Weltschmerz.
Out of the big three Punk releases from around that time (Offspring, Greenday and this Masterpiece) I reckon OCTW is the purest of all of them. All killer, no filler tracks about the hard times and how to survive them 🤘❤
This was my favrotire off this album, and this album was full of straight BANGERS.
Tim is almost FUC/
Best punk song probably ever!
Extremely debatable. Very underrated song 100%
yeaaa... just listened to this again after 27 years.. inspired me to play bass back then. school, jam and smoke. reposted this link to my high school chat group. ol' 14 yr olds
with Mohawk, coloured fingers(no tattoo) and chains..
Best song from the best punk album ever and Rancid isn't even among my 5 favorite punk bands.
Within 30 seconds you know people will still be playing this in 100 years
I still remember all the lyrics. Crazy great memories!!!
Love this song, it's one of Rancids Best!
The best :)
That bass line is unreal!
Matt is awesome. Best Punk Rock bassist.
Saudades do Luan
@@gab6736 eu não, Luan não joga nada a dois anos. Já tava na hora de ir embora.

I ya
Way underrated song.
I first heard this album in 97 or 98 it was my step son's CD. Great band great album
Cool riff and bass line.
I just love it, all punk deserves something
Fabulous band!
Greatest album of all time
Saw them perform it live tonight at Riot Fest 2021 in Chicago. It's always like the first time.
Rancid have always been very good at using diminished chords.
still has the best guitar of all time, period.
Damn this should’ve won a platinum award, rock on!!! Love y’all
Love this whole album 😎😎😎I know EVERY WORD TO EVERY SONG
Something burning deep inside of me...missing my old crusty friends...feeling free and waking up in a new state every couple of days ... lol dumpster diving and spanging for booze & weed. Soundtrack to the beat times... wouldn’t change a thing!!
Almost 30 years now. Still sounds like fucking gold.
懐かしい!!!
好き です!
10代 の頃の 憧れ でした!!!
Such an underrated track! ...And Out Come the Sheep in Wolves Clothing
That bass line, tho.
as a bassist, i agree -- solid bass walks! for punk bass, i also like Karl Alvarez from the Descendents.
I was today years old when I discovered that this song and Lounge Act by Nirvana are written about the same woman.
What woman!? This and lounge act are some of my favorite songs too
Tobi Vail out of Bikini Kill. Both Tim Armstrong and Kurt Cobain went out with her at different times.
This and Operation Ivy are gold dust.
ace is the place with the helpful hardware man
+Tony Shannon love this song but yeah I hear it too! lol
I always thought that too.
Old memories, ty from Italy
When I live in Olympia I play this every time I'm coming home. I play "Shitluck" by Modest Mouse every time I take a flight though....maybe that's a little over the top, but it preps me for the worst and is soothing in a way.
Guys playlist is the best like every song ,even rancid
Definate bring back the days when we gig for fun.
I love this song!...♥
I like how Lars quotes the Ace Hardware jingle in his opening solo.
Number . 1 Rancid Song~!!!
this album took me back to opp ivy i love that band
I used to live at the black house on 7th, near downtown Oly next to the tunnel. I wonder how many parties they've been to there! When I was there a couple years ago it was still rockin live bands every week, underage runaway teens, satanist anarchy, the real deal.
Sounds like Olympia 🙏🏼
Right in the feels
Saw these guys in 94 or 95 in Harrisburg,PA. Such a long time ago. Time does pass by.
I saw them on that same tour at Limelight NYC. They were just kids.
Świetny Song❤🖤❤
This song is a trip from hearing it the first time all messed up partying in the 90's, to going sober and hearing another part that I never heard when I was messed up in the 2000's, then back to gettin fucked up in 21. Lol
such a great punk track
Fantastic
Thanks NOFX ❤
About to move to Olympia wa. Thought I’d get some info.
Oly is my favorite place on earth. Live on the Westside. Take a program at evergreen. Go to Vics!! Enjoy your stay, the place is wonderful
I live in oly and it’s such a cool artsy layed back city :)
Like a lot of capital cities, Olympia has a thriving bohemian/punk scene. DC is similar.
Love tim love rancid
I dont know how they made it but the opening from this song makes me really feel to be at an Olympic Sport 🏟 event or something close 🤩🙂.
Saw the gang live on Monday night in Corpus Christi! Put on a bad ass show!!!
Siempre que escucho este disco me da un buen rollo cojonudo.
The good old days
What I think about punk, I relate to this song...
One of Rancids best songs. My daughter is 1 1/2 and LOVES them. Punk Rock Baby!!! 🤘🏻
We gotta keep Punk Rock alive and rocking with the Ska freels!
Nobody cares lol
I feel like nobody else gets it? This shit hurts my heart to listen to all alone and aimless
I get it foo but the nofx version is better
Awesome
"I'm having a hard time understanding..." We ALL are Tim.
(It's called enunciating and we love you for NOT doing it!) It wouldn't be the same without the mushmouth slurring.
I saw a comment on an op ivy video and it said something like "good old tim Armstrong and his incomprehensible shouting". They have the same energy haha
I completely agree. When I sing these songs I have to put a little Tim in there or it's just not right without.
@@Sage-qd6tf
except when he slurred his shouting in Op Ivy, we called him Lint
Just fucking beautiful!
well said brother
Rolling!!
This album is right up there with Lou Reeds debut for me. Vastly different but great all the same.
Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man...
💕 I miei cari Rancid💕
Nofx did a cover it's cool but I love this one I lied I love the nofx version too
This F****** song is so dope
I guess I'm the only one here because of Molly Tuttle! Punk gone bluegrass! 🤘
There’s dozens of us!
Yes
She does an awesome version. I always thought it was a great song for a country cover.
Rancid man fuck yeah
AND OUT COME THE WOLVES!
Legends
how do you make a 19 track album with no filler?
You just do it
@Gary Oak lmao this is a 3:30 songs
thats a long song for punk
@Gary Oak slow and steady always wins the race son
@Gary Oak Andres is correct. 3.5 min is not a "relatively short" runtime when it comes to punk songs ua-cam.com/video/yhc4m2zPHI0/v-deo.html
Talent
I had this tape when I was 13 years old 7th grade 1995
Vuelvan a Argentina! 😎❤
Reminds me of living in Ferndale Wa
I'm not far from ferndale. It's about 40 minutes north of me
BaaaAAACkK to Olympia ,😘💜✌️💜
I still remember the days when people confused assorted jelly beans for Operation Ivy. God I loved being a punk. Shout out to all my PUNKS, SKINHEADS, DGKs, DMS, and everyone who ever knew what was good!
