I must say, even though the 1997 Film was nominated for Best Visual Effects, the 1958 version IS Heavily Impressive for the time being.
Fully agree!
A Night To Remember is very accurate for the most part. The way it sinks fully intact is the only major inaccuracy I can think of. But I don't blame the film creators for that mistake as it was generally believed by most people that the ship sank whole until the wreck was finally discovered
Generally believed by the public- not the survivors
@@tenorcenter Yeah a number of survivors testified after the sinking that they saw the ship break but the court didn't believe them because first officer Lightoller tesitified the opposite and they believed him instead
@@tenorcenter There were survivors who believed it sank intact too
That wreck was discovered by Robert Ballard.
@@JeffreyMason-e3k I know
James Cameron took a lot of inspiration from A Night to Remember, so it's fitting that many scenes are similar in both films.
And the 1943, 1953 and 1979 (SOS Titanic) versions as well. He had no ideas obviously.

Wow, every word in that comment was wrong.
It's good to see this again and honestly it's still a great comparison of these two movies
I watched it in half speed just to savour all the work you put into this one. Freaking brilliant. (Again). I love both movies, and until this, I had no idea how much was "borrowed" from the original film. Things that weren't historical, but cinematic "homages". Excellent work. That you have so many in the pipeline ready to go leaves me in further awe. Well done.
A perfect fan cut would be: the visuals from 1997 with the storyline from 1958. Anyone wants to join me in editing them as one film?
It would be spectacular if there were no protagonists, just people fighting to survive.
@@Criswlog It would be pretty hard to create a movie without a permanent cast (one or more people), that's why a lot of these types of movie have one or more protagonists
@@Emanuele246gicaptain lightoler would still function, only thing is that the scenes were he is the main character like with Ismay panicking and some others, replace him with the real officers and characters that were in real life
If it had the classic Titanic melody I would cry

@@MattSkuta Hey would you do Godzilla next with 1954 and 1998 because they’re the same
@@MattSkuta there’s a military tanks and adventure in a island both in 1954 & 1998
@@MattSkuta and Godzilla invaded a city in 1954 & 1998
@@MattSkuta also there’s a scene were the mayor talks about something
Walter Lord, who wrote the book A Night to Remember, was James Cameron's guest of honor when the film premiered in London in 1997 - Cameron also consulted the director of the film. He was really trying to bring Titanic enthusiasts together with his film - allowing historians to come tour the set and hiring Don Lynch and Ken Marshall to work with him on the film. More nods to Titanic's film past was casting David Warner (from S.O.S. Titanic) to play Spicer Lovejoy and Bernard Fox (from A Night to Remember) to play as Archibald Gracie in his film. He even managed to work in a scene from "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" film as Kathy Bates is describing the scene at the dinner table (hiding money in the stove which was also based on a story written in a Colorado newspaper)
Your work is fantastic! I would love to see a side-by-side of the LEGO games with the Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Harry Potter movies :)
Wow! I didn't know about the old Titanic movie.
Both films are good, but I prefer 1997's titanic

A Night to Remember is still the best on screen telling of this story
Both movies were very well made. Enjoyed them both. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
For 1958 that is very good!
For those that don't know, both movies are FREE on YT rn
Titanic 1997: “That aged well…”
A night to remember by far is the best no rose and jack , and it gets right to it
Well, except for the christening of the ship, the fact that it didn't break in half, the heroic and angelic depiction of Charles Lightoller, the third class being locked in the ship (which people tend to complain about in Cameron's film but not ANTR.... weird) many of the film set interiors etc.
I love how the Titanic 1958 copying the 1997
to be accurate, 1997 is copying 1958.
Great video!
I remember watching the same video, or atleast similar but many years ago, it was my childhood
R.I.P. Bernard Hill ❤
Harika bi video olmuş, hazırlayanların emeğine sağlık
Cut out the romance and modern-day scenes, and the James Cameron blockbuster is more or less a remake of "A Night to Remember"
They're both about the same ship but I wouldn't say it's a remake of "A Night to Remember" -- we got to see far more rooms and details in Cameron's film.
@@IsaacCline-ru7lsCameron also stole from the 1943, 1953 and 1979 versions of Titanic as well. He had no original thought in his head.
@@Garsons-oq4lh Actually, James Cameron tried to bring the Titanic community together and was successful at it when the movie came out. He consulted with the director of the film version of A Night to Remember on his own film, Walter Lord was his guest of honor the night the film premiered in London. He hired Bernard Fox who was in the film version A Night to Remember to play as Colonel Gracie in his film, David Warner from SOS Titanic to play as Cal's assistant, and even managed to squeeze in a nod for the film "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" - He hired the top Titanic historian Don Lynch and artist Ken Marschall who worked with him on the film, as well as others. It's only been in more recent history that people like yourselves have gathered together to create an echo chamber of anger and ignorance - turning these nods into something negative.
0:06 how tf did they manage to mess up what ship the Titanic is,the ship here is the queen mary.
0:07 - 0:10 thats the Lusitania.
0:12 - 0:16 thats the queen mary.
Ship at 0:05 is Aquitania
Ship at 0:08 is Lusitania
Ship at 0:12 is SS Bremen.
No footage of Titanic at sea or in port was ever taken, the only footage that does exist is of the ship being winched into the Thompson drydock in Belfast, and that was only discovered after Cameron's film was made. For this movie, just footage of four-funnel liners was sufficient. Aquitania's boarding was a match, after they had cut out the "Cunard" part of the "Cunard-White Star Line" banner on the gangway. Bremen's footage was fine to use also as it didn't show the funnels or much recognisable detail.
“A night to remember” hits hard….
Anyone notice how James chose actors that looked very similar to the 1958 actors?
This is a repost, right? such still amazing.
Yes. With a slightly tighter edit and music licensed from Uppbeat instead of from the actual film because it was blocked to the point that 74% of my demographic were no longer able to view it.
@@MattSkuta Ah, it still amazing! i love ur comparisions , I've been following them since 2019 (i guess, or 2020), a good suggestion is The War of the Worlds (2005 - 1953)
I don't think War of the Worlds is side-by-side-able. I have about 40 side-by-side videos I've at least started and another 90 prepped to start but I often find that many of those aren't really compatible with the format.
@@MattSkutaalso this repost look even sadder and better than the original, the songs look fit with it. Amazing!!
0:08 bro thats the lusitania💀
THATS WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY,THATS THE LISITANIA💀💀💀💀
0:10 also i think i found this footage is from titanic 1943 i think

What Happen To The Original? Did The Original Video Got Copyright?
Yes, blocked in most countries
"Roy Ward Baker" not 'Barker'
Do Godzilla (1954/1998) because it’s the same as the original

I’m aware. No plans to side-by-side the teaser trailer but will likely do it once the film is out. In the meantime, you can check out the side-by-side with the previous versions: ua-cam.com/video/Un4FUgXIfnE/v-deo.html
@@MattSkuta maybe the grudge films? 2002 and 2004?

Nosferatu
A Night To Remember is a great film i know there is mistakes in it but at least you know its fairly truthful to what happened on that night in April 15 1912 as for James Cameron 's Titanic a rubbish film that spent to much time on a made up romance and didn't even mention the Carpathia or the Californian?
That's what I liked about the Carpathia and esp Californian mentions. It makes the story even more heartbreaking, knowing their lack of knowledge, and assumptions. Also, seeing the scenes in the telegraph room. You didn't need Rose and Jack to make it more tragic. The actual event was tragic all on it's own.
