  • robfreeman.com - Concurrent causation is an insurance concept that contemplates two or more perils contributing to a loss or claim. Insurance companies often denied claims involving concurrent causation if at least one peril was not covered. For instance if a claim involved damage from wind and flood, but the building was not covered for flood - only covered for wind - the insurance company would deny the claim. However the courts decided that this was not acceptable and ruled that claims involving concurrent causation with at least one peril covered should be honored by the insurers. Insurance companies responded by introducing "anti-concurrent causation" clauses in their policies to account for these situations.

Should lightning struck a tractor and as a result fire from tje tractor damages the crops on a farm yard, will that be a concurrent causation?

That may be a good example. The perils of lightning and fire are common perils and it is also an example of proximate cause.
