    "The artist sees the mistakes, the viewer sees the art" :)
    You did so well Liron, try not to focus on the things that bother you about your painting. Try to see it through a viewers eyes, relax and enjoy the intriguing composition.

    Rare to hear artists speak of ego as part of their drive, but it seems common sense that it’s just how it has to be. It’s not the finished product that brings deep satisfaction, it’s all the work it took to get there.

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  8 місяців тому +3

      Indeed, sometimes it’s all ego. And on some rare occasions it is 0 ego (:
      The recent pumpkins process was 0 (or very little) ego. I don’t remember a thing, the entire process felt like hypnosis / staring meditation (:

      @@LironYanyour focus on your craft is admirable. Are you ever distracted from your craft, and if so, how do you manage it? Or does it happen in phases and you just deal with it as part of modern life? Perhaps a video idea.

      @@LironYan lol! Yes starting anything new is scary and I guess the price of a roll is also intimidating. I filmed it and posted on my channel. I need to get plywood or something to tape it down now. Might head to Lowe’s later. I like those large clips you use. Probably a better solution to tape. I’ve seen someone else staple their paper to the board.

    Congratulations, what a HUGE effort to do this!!!! It has turned out really, REALLY GOOD - I think I’d go insane trying to do even a full sheet of watercolour paper, even though I HATE working on small sheets, 1/4 sheets is my usual size and 1/2 sheets are as big as I go. Sounds like the process of doing this painting has caused a shift in you, which makes sense as it was a journey in every way imaginable. I hope your painting finds a good home. I was really happy to see this video and thank you so much for sharing your experience. I don't know if I ever will paint something so large, but I can tell you it won't be as detailed as yours if I do! But your painting is beautiful. What a fantastic job. I am inspired. I think I will go larger, but get there slowly, as I am not that experienced. I am just beginning to find my style. I hope you do sell it and get a fantastic price! Go Liron!

      These rolls are wonderful! Very useful if you want to have full control of your paintings' dimensions.
      I used it a lot for smaller sizes too.
      One thing I discovered was indeed quite useful in this process - is to roll it the other way. Even for small paintings.
      You leave it rolled the other way for a few hours, then unroll and cut the sizes you want! (:

    Been following you for a while and always enjoyed your work and the way to help other artists. This is a bold and ambitious painting and I think it turned out great! I can’t imagine what it’s like to be doubtful halfway through a project like this, as watercolours often only begin to make sense contextually towards the finish line. It definitely holds a lot of character and I think it you have harnessed your own fallibility and vulnerability as a self critical artist into something really successful and impressive. I can tell it means a lot to you in recent times to feel satisfied with the quality of your own work and this piece should make you proud of yourself. Your attitude towards painting is great and you always have fun and are encouraging others to have fun too , but you are also ready and willing to commit to things that obviously put a bit of pressure on yourself and pull at your emotions. There is a love for painting there , and also the energy and character of someone perhaps jaded by what it is to be an artist emotionally. This piece will forever mean alot to you and I hope when you unroll it in a months time you can be at peace with it. People may not understand how a masterpiece like this can strike doubt in the artist , and hard to fathom that you could possibly be unsure of it , but that is the nature of creation. Thank you so much for sharing the process and your honest thoughts on it all. For me it is definitely one of your best and I wish you success with getting it on display somewhere. Thanks Liron!

    I'm certainly impressed. The process is great! Did you mention (or recall) how many hours you spent on this project? I put about 36 hours on my largest project so far. I'd imagine maybe 60+ for something with this much planning and execution.
    I'm inspired, though! I should be finishing up an 11x17" (28x43cm) watercolor painting of an Oblivion Gate in another week or so. Then, I think I'll crack into another large one.
    I love the Berserk books on the shelf, by the way! I've been a fan since I was a teenager. I have the scene of Griffith carrying himself to the castle tattooed on my right arm. Miura's art is very inspiring, even if I'm not great at drawing scary things lol

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  8 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much! So happy to meet a fellow struggler! ⚔️ So awesome you have that scene tattooed 😮 Miura’s art is insane and cannot be replaced haha.
      As for the time this took, I did a very rough calculation of about 24 hours or so of pure painting. But if you include the breaks, staring at it, planning, experimenting with test paper etc… it might end up around the 30-35 hours mark. It may sound fast, but I’m inherently a fast painter. And the process I used here is still very much similr to my usual (:
      So it’s a VERY LONG time for mr.
      Keep up the great work! Sounds like you’re allowing it to carry you to what feels right 😁👍🙏🏼

I think this is one of the nicest and biggest watercolours I have ever seen and I particularly like the orientation. I hope you do get to hang it in the location you want to as they should be honoured to display it. Great job Liron. Just a quick question..do you ever sell prints of your work? Oh thank you so so much 🙏😊
      I'll do my best to get it there!! And yes - framing it will be a nightmare 😂 But will look awesome for sure

    Enjoyable post Liron, congrats on this very impressive painting. I suppose most painters of large murals would use oils, anything but watercolor (haha). Watercolor is going to fight you all the way, what with the uneven drying time and matching up the correct values from section to section. Good luck with framing this beast (haha). Cheers!

    Lovely work Lyron. It was very interesting how you painted it in sections and at one point tipped it on end.I see you did not soak and stretch your paper and it is very rippled. Will you be relaxing the finished painting before framing it or do you see that as unnecessary?

      @LironYan  7 місяців тому

      Thank you Cynthia! Great insight - it is indeed quite rippled.
      But the way I see it, in these sizes it really isn't a big deal. The paper itself becomes its own being, and people receive the organic feel it will have.
      Not to mention - the glass / perspex it'll sit behind will minimize it to an extent (:
      Hope that makes sense, and thank you for the kind words 🙏😊

    I love this awesome art! I also appreciate you being so transparent and down to earth. It’s helpful as I try to better understand why I do what I do. I have questions:
    Is this 300# cold press? Arches? Where do you purchase such size?
    Next, how is this mounted for hanging?
    Is it matted and framed like smaller pieces? I know that’s very expensive to do! That, I feel, is one of the drawbacks. The other would be the difficulty and transporting. Am I wrong? Is there a better way?
    If offered $20,000 USA, would you accept?
    Thank you

      Thank you so much 😊🙏🏼 And wonderful questions!
      This is a 10 yard Arches roll (cold press, 300 gsm), as you mentioned. I got it off Amazon a few years back and have been slowly “eating through it” (:
      I produced two large paintings with it, and this is the 2nd one.
      As for mounting / hanging / framing - great question and I have no idea. It might need to be done on the spot, where it will hang (: But I have yet to do the research. But I think any regular solution would work, just like there are framed oil paintings of similar size.
      You could perhaps substitute the glass for a similar lighter material (perspex perhaps), for weight reasons.
      As for selling it, what you bring up sounds like a reasonable price to me, actually. It’s a matter of whether I’ll be able to get it to show somewhere prominent or not (:

    It's an impressive achievement, no doubt. My question is, did you enjoy painting it? To me that's what it all comes down to. You can endlessly torture yourself with questions about why the artworld does or does not appreciate your work, and agonising about whether this square centimetre or that in the painting is perfect. In the end, it's most important to please yourself, to paint what moves you and then leave it up to others to how they wish to interpret it or respond to it.

      The first 70% were pure fun, the latter 30% were more challenging. And I think the main reason is real life things that were happening simultaneously and took up insane amounts of energy, and really muddied my artistic waters.
      I think the wisest thing would have been to not try and push through these muddy water, but rather let them clear on their own, and then let the process “come to me”, so to speak (:

      I got it from Amazon (: But unfortunately when I search now I can’t find it. May ran out of stock, will have to check in a couple of days again.
      It was the 10 yards arches cold press roll

    last resort to contact someone, consider Eric Rhoads, Chief cook and bottle washer of Streamline publishing. I'm not sure what he will offer but he is quite a successful person.

      It would be best to get to an Italian / Florence publication, but perhaps the way there will be through other publishers 🙏🏼
