they should really take a leap out of how SA did some of their sanctuary zones, for example the cape Elizebeth Sanctuary zone has a "special purpose zone" that allows for land based rod and lone fishing only, we have a few zones that are like that, no boat fishing but landbased allowed. Sanctuary zones really should only be in places that its needed, identify actual fish breeding locations and close those off, Ardrossan Sanctuary zone for example is a known snapper breeding ground so its been closed off same with the Cuttlefish breeding area near Whyalla
It’s not quite that simple as just assuming fish breed in one spot and they’re fair go everywhere else. Some species, and not just fish, require vast habitat that maybe a shifting habitat. The beach where I live has been decimated by prawn fisheries which has a bigger impact on bycatch than prawns. It is common to have thousands of dead immature Trevally washed up through by catch of prawn fishing. The prawn fishery also digs up sea grasses which are essential Dugong habitat.
@@teeanahera8949 no you dont assume you do the research, with research you can identify the fish breeding area's/spawning area's and nursery zones, those are the area's you should be putting the sanctuary zones. Hello there my friend Gido. Thankyou heaps for showing me your adventures on the beach. I was just wondering if beach worms are available where you are. I've always found them to be a ripper bait for every fish that's out there. Except for maybe tailor and a few other pelagics. I can see you are most definitely an extremely accomplished angler so I do believe you know what's the best. Great videos Gido!
serious recreational anglers are almost never the guys leaving trash. it's guys from out of town or bum ass locals who poach and leave plastic and beer cans. the good news is that those areas will rebound quickly if there are any species which are pressured. nature finds a way pretty quick. if there aren't any problems there'll be very little change if all they're limiting are a few rod and reel fishermen every once in a while. it's netting, dragging, leaving traps etc that really pollutes and has bycatch. rod and reel fishing from shore is some of the most sustainable means to harvest protein on the planet.
I don’t think there are already any issues generally speaking and netting etc has been happening it’s legally shouldn’t happen been from what I know. And they cant police these areas anyway. They are too remote. I very rarely see rubbish on the beaches and what I did see is normally washed up from offshore. This marine park wont effect rubbish IMO
The worst part is they let commercial yape the fk out of the ocean then try blame the way it is out there on us like yeah its the guys taking two or three fish its not the guys taking tons at a time
I’ve noticed you have a cast cannon on your surf rod. How do you like it? Is it really better than using your finger to cast? I’m considering putting them on my two surf rods but not on my regular bay rods. Appreciate any info you can share. Thanks again for the videos. I love watching them
Get yourself some bait runner or Live Liner reels. It sort of like a clicker on a bait caster only quieter unfortunately. I love the Penn Fierce 6000LL!
Nice vid mate, love fishing down there. The sanctuary zones have also affected us here around Busso and Dunsborough. Not sure if you are aware but it looked like you put a bit of a pallet on your fire. Just be careful with that especially if you are cooking, alot of those are treated with arsenic to stop the white ants. When you burn them, the arsenic fumes come out which are poisonous. Keep up the vids as we all enjoy watching.
Thanke mate. By the time I started cooking the pallet wood should have be very well burnt and I put jarrah on that. So the idea was just be cooking with the Jarrah. Didn’t realise they were putting in Sanctuary zones up there too but have heard about the wind turbines!
Yeah, the wind turbines are an interesting one. Some of the sanctuary zones here are a bit annoying blocking off some of the best beach fishing for salmon. Seeing as salmon are migratory and where they have put a sanctuary zone at Meelup Beach you really only catch Herring, sand whiting and salmon I'm not sure what they are trying to protect.@@gidosfishingadventures
Thanks Gido great video, shame about the government rubbish, hopefully your following with get on the website and have there say, I will be on this Arvo for a read. Keep the videos coming. Cheers
just got on the dbca website and had my say. There has to be a happy medium between recreational fishing and conservation. The thought of not being able to throw a line in the water to try for a fish or two on the beach down there is a bit sad. I absolutely agree the area must be managed carefully to protect it.
Yes we need a happy medium. Although at the moment I can’t understand the need to protect it as it’s already so remote and the weather does a great job in protecting it as is.
These are fascinating videos. How do you kill the fish? Also, the immensity and ferocity of the ocean is awe-inspiring. How far into the ocean to you cast?
You should cut the part out about the proposed sanctuary’s and make it a short. Get the word out there in case people don’t catch it in the middle of this vid. Good luck. 👍🏽
an absolute travesty. governments across the country are seriously losing touch (that's under the assumption they were ever in touch to start with...). we are copping a statewide ban on targeting groper here in NSW purely as a result of a few select idiots breaking the rules and the media causing a shitstorm... fingers crossed for your sake Gido that they come to their senses! and great content, as per.
Yeh I've heard about that in NSW also. I jumped on and quickly gave my opinion on that when the opportunity came up. Can't see how they can keep that law in place when they've already admitted it because of "feeling" and they have no scientific reasoning at all
The alternative to marine parks is generally developers putting housing on the coast and this makes places more accessible and accommodating which leads to overfishing. On the mid-north coast of NSW, that's how it goes. It's either marine parks or developments, appropriation of some description. Developers and more humans is a worse alternative in my opinion.
It’s crazy. I doubt any of it is about conservation. All about money and fulfilling the green energy scheme even if it doesn’t actually work. As long as it looks like they are trying but screwing the ecosystem at the same time
Guys, whenever I go on vacation in Spain, specifically Galicia, up in the north-west, I like to go fishing. It is a hobby that I get to enjoy only on rare occasions, since I am only there 3 weeks per year tops. I looked up the rods and reels in Gido video description and it's easily 1000+$ for a rod + reel. It sounds ridiculous to spend that kind of money for what I will be getting out of it. Up til now I used self made bamboo rods, but that doesn't really get you anything worth filleting. What would you recommend for a very amateur hobby fisher? Maybe I should rather ask people in Galicia, but I was filled with curiosity after looking up the prices of Gido's fishing gear. xD
One thing irks me every time. In South Africa, we wouldn't be caught dead just lopping out a hunk of meat out there. Baits look like they belong in a Michelin star restaurant when they're sent out. We use cotton to fasten and shape the bait for maximum distance, movement in the water, etc. Is it that the Ozzie fish cba about bait presentation, or the target species don't care?
hi gido! i realy want to start fishing but i have no idea what type of rods i should get (i think about starting with only hand-line fishing) i also dont know where to check and how to check what are the "local fish in the sea" , whats the limits and stuff like that😅😅 i also have no1 to fish with sadly because im a musician so my only friends or either musicians or artists lol. any suggestions? thanks! love your videos!!! been watching for couple of years i think (i guess the only way is to search in like a facebook group or something or go to some local fishermans and ask them? but i dont really know ) and sorry to hear about the marine thing.. my city also did some of that stuff before and we all stand against it but they keep shutting down beaches etc for no reason
Without knowing where you live I'd say you are best of going to the local tackle store and chatting to them. Perhaps some facebook fishing pages for you area also where you can get some advice 👍
I live in Esperance and I wonder why the government doesn’t place these no fish and exclusion zones in places that are heavily fished ie: areas north and south of Perth? I guess our numbers are low so we don’t count and they don’t care.
Nice work Gido, do you wrap your baits in the surf, I see some folks go to town with the bait twine ? dont know if its biodegradable or not. Lets just say I'm a competitive shooter subject to possible new legislation, imagine me telling you Gido you have to choose 5 rods for everything !
I do use it sometimes. I believe it is biodegradable. I certainly hope so and will look into it. Yes I hear the new shooting legislation is a bad joke too although personally I don’t know much about it myself
Shimano wouldn’t help me out with sponsorship. I bought the Shimano reels with my own money years ago but when I was after a reel sponsorship to help keep costs down they declined, however Daiwa was happy to help out

7:38 Kind of a cool optical illusion. Almost looked like the bird was eating out of your hand.
Thanks Gido great video, shame about the government rubbish, hopefully your following with get on the website and have there say, I will be on this Arvo for a read.
Keep the videos coming.
Cheers
Thanks gwedo.
Love the content, mate.
From a wet and miserable uk.
I'm not jealous at all😂
just got on the dbca website and had my say.
I couldn't agree more.. and it more your backyard than it is mine. What a beautiful part of the world.@@gidosfishingadventures
Great video...Cheers! 🍺
our so called giovernment is taking away all our rights ! you go giddo im right behind ya ! love ya shows
Nope. They're not. Way to have a whinge though!!
@@ebisu8824 ...you sound vaccinated.!? Is your mask protecting pregnant Ukrainian men from climate change today?
@@ebisu8824yeah they are dude. At every chance, they slowly erode our freedoms and our choices.
These are fascinating videos. How do you kill the fish? Also, the immensity and ferocity of the ocean is awe-inspiring. How far into the ocean to you cast?
This is the case every where 15 minutes city’s.and we will be allowed to do nothing.
You should cut the part out about the proposed sanctuary’s and make it a short. Get the word out there in case people don’t catch it in the middle of this vid. Good luck. 👍🏽
Yes I’ve shared a bit on my instagram account stories but had been thinking of doing something like that also 👍🏼
an absolute travesty. governments across the country are seriously losing touch (that's under the assumption they were ever in touch to start with...). we are copping a statewide ban on targeting groper here in NSW purely as a result of a few select idiots breaking the rules and the media causing a shitstorm...
fingers crossed for your sake Gido that they come to their senses!
and great content, as per.
Yeh I've heard about that in NSW also. I jumped on and quickly gave my opinion on that when the opportunity came up. Can't see how they can keep that law in place when they've already admitted it because of "feeling" and they have no scientific reasoning at all
Amazing... Thanks...
amazing....iam indonesian and i love fishing but just in a little rivers
The alternative to marine parks is generally developers putting housing on the coast and this makes places more accessible and accommodating which leads to overfishing. On the mid-north coast of NSW, that's how it goes. It's either marine parks or developments, appropriation of some description. Developers and more humans is a worse alternative in my opinion.
Yeah no chance anyone's going to develop the coast east of esperance. It's so isolated and population is so small it wouldn't be financially viable
❤
@@truey90s yet.
Crazy they do that and then at the same time want to put a massive wind farm off Bunbury … 😮hypocrisy
It’s crazy. I doubt any of it is about conservation. All about money and fulfilling the green energy scheme even if it doesn’t actually work. As long as it looks like they are trying but screwing the ecosystem at the same time
Love your content, Gido.
Perhaps consider removing the nails in your scrap firewood...
Maybe I should rather ask people in Galicia, but I was filled with curiosity after looking up the prices of Gido's fishing gear. xD
Amazing video 👋🥰🤗👍🎣🐟🐠

17:48 @FieldDays is in WA - I don't know where all he travels for his trips but maybe he knows something what's going on as well
what drone do u use
sick vid
Mavic Air 2s. Cheers mate
👏👏👏
One thing irks me every time. In South Africa, we wouldn't be caught dead just lopping out a hunk of meat out there. Baits look like they belong in a Michelin star restaurant when they're sent out. We use cotton to fasten and shape the bait for maximum distance, movement in the water, etc. Is it that the Ozzie fish cba about bait presentation, or the target species don't care?
The beard looks good mate
ok bos,,,hello indonesia🤘🐟🇮🇩
This is a super great video and a very good fisherman please also fav this comment gido
How do you like using the bionic finger
Have you moved to Esperance?, or is this just a change of scenery?
hi gido! i realy want to start fishing but i have no idea what type of rods i should get (i think about starting with only hand-line fishing) i also dont know where to check and how to check what are the "local fish in the sea" , whats the limits and stuff like that😅😅
i also have no1 to fish with sadly because im a musician so my only friends or either musicians or artists lol. any suggestions? thanks! love your videos!!! been watching for couple of years i think (i guess the only way is to search in like a facebook group or something or go to some local fishermans and ask them? but i dont really know ) and sorry to hear about the marine thing.. my city also did some of that stuff before and we all stand against it but they keep shutting down beaches etc for no reason
Without knowing where you live I'd say you are best of going to the local tackle store and chatting to them. Perhaps some facebook fishing pages for you area also where you can get some advice 👍
Hey mate they did the same here in far north Queensland and unfortunately your pushing the proverbial up a bloody great hill.
I live in Esperance and I wonder why the government doesn’t place these no fish and exclusion zones in places that are heavily fished ie: areas north and south of Perth? I guess our numbers are low so we don’t count and they don’t care.
Gido, your steering wheel is on the wrong side. 🤣
Nah mate yours is 😆
3:45 damn that was a good run...
We have several marine pests in our gulfs with landbased fishing allowed only keeping pros out is the problem.
Should read marine parks not pests
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️
What was the thing you put your line around when you were about to cast at 6:54 ?
Bionic finger for casting
Cast the rod over yr left shoulder giro when fishing low mount
Nice work Gido, do you wrap your baits in the surf, I see some folks go to town with the bait twine ? dont know if its biodegradable or not. Lets just say I'm a competitive shooter subject to possible new legislation, imagine me telling you Gido you have to choose 5 rods for everything !
I do use it sometimes. I believe it is biodegradable. I certainly hope so and will look into it. Yes I hear the new shooting legislation is a bad joke too although personally I don’t know much about it myself
Hey mate why are you fishing diawa fishing reels now and not shimano
Shimano wouldn’t help me out with sponsorship. I bought the Shimano reels with my own money years ago but when I was after a reel sponsorship to help keep costs down they declined, however Daiwa was happy to help out
What is that line quick release that you have at 7 minutes video?
Probably the bionic finger on the rod?
@@gidosfishingadventures yes.. I found it on Aliexpress and bought a couple or them just few minutes ago.. That is Great to fish some tunas here in Brazil at 100 miles from shore. Now my fingers will don't hurt anymore. Thank you .
