We had a good time with that and a Positive Grid Go at a trick-or-trunk last month, but it did take me a while to get the "sucker-sticky-stuff" off the finish. (still worth it)
Wish I'd seen this channel earlier. I was looking for a mini guitar for my boy to learn on. This Vox was on the shortlist. Went with a J&D mini strat in the end. My boy definitely wanted a red strat after seeing a Hank Marvin video. Anyway, cheers! Just leaving a comment and a like to help with the algorithm.
@@miniguitarsociety Hi. I'm in Europe. I looked at Thoman's Harley Benton mini guitars & Bax's Fazley ones, but they seem to be a different tuning (I'm not a guitar player so didn't know if this was important for a beginner). I'd watched many videos on the quality of cheap guitars and saw one of an impressive full size J&D guitar. I got one from Music Store a German/Belgian online store. I'm going to get a cheap amp, cable and strap from Thoman. Don't want to spend too much as I don't know if my boy will stick to playing guitar. I've promised that if he does, I'll take him to a local music store and buy him a full sized Jet strat copy. (honestly, I'll be happy if he can strum along to 'the wheels on the bus' ) The main reason I ignored the Vox, was because it didn't look comfortable to play when seated. Anyway. Liked your Vox video. You deserve way more views.
@@skasteve6528 - Thanks for the compliment and you are right, the Vox is more than a little strange to play sitting down. I think you made the right choice going with a standard tuning strat - it has the "look" of a guitar player which matters to people that play. As for giving it up? My son wanted one when he was six, and I got him a red Mini Strat. He lasted a few weeks. I have the strat now (known as "Red..." a few weeks ago, he came down and "borrowed" my Taylor baby and he's been watching a bunch of youtube content and picking things up. I try not to be "that dad" but it's more than a little cool to me.
Hi there. Which guage strings and brand do you recommend for use with this guitar? Am having trouble finding a specific set but the advice is a heavy guage? Thank you. I've got the green coloured one coming today.
@@birdsbodger I just posted the 30 day review for this guitar and watched the closing credits for the answer - I have Ernie Ball "regular slinky" 10-46s on it now and those seem to be very playable and hold tune very well.
Thanks for sharing, just ordered one to have something lighter than a telecaster to hike around with

Thank you very much for the comment and the like - Now I'm curious about the J&D Mini strat and how you came by it...
