  • Post-Alcan. The slow zigzag back home. Time to get some Canadian National Park time in! Getting into Jasper National Park and then doing my first big run in a while. Felt good. Missing running while riding, but glad to make some time to get into the real backwoods a bit.

Such a beautiful place, the Rockies, just magical. 75 years ago when I was a kid I use to swim in that freezing mountain water, now just watching you in it made me gasp and shiver. That shit is COLD! Thanks for sharing.

Lucky you on that run. Saw an 8 yr old girl running on a trail in the Rockies get taken down by a mountain lion. She was running on the trail ahead of her family. Much further south than where you are and in a much more populated area. A tense period of time to get the girl released from the jaws of the mountain lion. It wasn’t pretty. Also had a very close encounter backpacking solo in the Rockies. Fortunately the bear wasn’t that hungry or they would have never found my body. Yes, the Rockies are spectacular.

Jeez! That sounds traumatic. Can't fuck around with the wildlife, that's for sure. I was carrying bear bangers with me 🙌

When you were getting kicked by altitude on your run it reminded me of my last and final trip across country (GA-2-WA) and how the altitude in the US Rockies killed my bike... the carb just could not after about 7k feet. The pass was 12k so for a mile of vertical I was getting passed by friggin' semi's and vw vans... the real pisser is all I had to do was turn one set screw, but I dropped that flathead bit in gravel and though I looked for it for a half hour and carefully raked and sifted the gravel with my fingers until I hit dirt, I never found it.

Great, yet again. Nice warm, watching with coffee
Respect where respect is due. I run. Trail run in what we call ‘mountains’ here in the U.K., my arse would be hanging out (a technical term) at that altitude. Can’t wait for the next vid

@@MadeleineWolczko well it’s more of a waddle/wheezing mess than a run. But my mother always said, it the taking part that counts

I stayed in a hotel in Jasper right before I boarded the Rocky Mountaineer train to Vancouver.
