  • You join Mark for a short Autumn evening fishing trip. Out once again fishing for barbel and hoping to connect with one of these golden torpedoes. A tricky short trip but one that he would find a welcome and rarer younger fish lurking and something we do not always see much of on our rivers, as we are usually fishing for more older generations of mature barbel stocks and we do need younger fish coming through, be that naturally or by support from EA fish stockings.

Thanks Mark - young fish are vital to the health of a river (a couple of years ago I had several baby barbel from my local river Dane which augurs well)

Mark on the rivers you fish where you have a crayfish problem have you considered setting a few traps for them if you hide them away so the cords are in the bankside undergrowth and visit the river regularly like you do for fishing you will soon make an impact on their numbers

Hello Steve Mark here but on my phone account! Firstly many thanks for watching the video, but our club as far as I am aware does not allow members to trap sadly, as we could all make a dent in crayfish populations if we were allowed and it would be sensible.

@Mark Erd Sounds like it might be worth raising at the AGM if enough people support a move who knows - surely the hierarchy must see its a sensible thing to get rid of this particularly annoying invasive species

Nice discussion and congratulations on a fine young barbus. The Bristol Avon where I live has got some small barbel (much smaller than your one) I presume they are naturally spawned as the ea hasn’t stocked the ba for at least 6 years I think. A lovely fish mate 🎣 and I completely agree on the sewage issues you’ve mentioned in recent videos, I actually became sick with an upset stomach for nearly a week after catching a turdberg fur the Christmas floods. Thank you for another great video

Thank you and actually i know for certain that your Bristol Avon received between 300 to 600 young barbel very recently which hopefully will help things a bit. I am Sorry to hear that you became sick but it does not surprise me with what is going in our rivers and we as anglers come into contact with.

howdy. Glad to see you fishing. as for myself, it has been nearly zero deg F here and there is about 6 inches of "hard water" i.e. Ice on the surface here.

Looks a lovely river mate 👍.Yet another great video.Just bought 4 RVS twin tips 2.25 2.75lbs I thought half price buy 4 ,2 for specimen fishing, 2 for floodwater barbel fishing obviously not for up here in the northeast.Decent rods well made for the price.

@@francolinobasco I just ordered from the website they opened the new store in Washington where I live, I keep on forgetting to pop in for rods but delivered for free so can't complain .I noticed Advanta leads are a couple of quid cheaper than the website so I might start seeing if other prices are cheaper just the website is good for convenience.

Parts of my river are riddled with crays too. What’s your best tips to fish with them around

    • @markerd5378
      @markerd5378 Рік тому

Hey there and thanks for watching. Generally I try to fish rock hard baits and sometimes move swim to swim or draw fish into swims to disrupt the crayfish by by baiting with carpets if bird seed or hemp.

This video is actually from a trip I took on the 22nd of September Kev. However If you've watched my recently uploaded video before this one where I'm trotting a small river that's was an up to date trip taken in January as I'd asked everyone on my youtube community page if they'd like to see a different video. Here's a link to that video in case you've missed it. ua-cam.com/video/GUEasvCHAbQ/v-deo.html
I'm not trying to kid anyone mate, it even says in the video description box "a barbel trip taken in autumn". You can also corroborate this fact by checking the dates photos of this fish were posted on my Instagram page. Fact is if I didn't run a delay with videos then I'm sure it would be a case of me taking a dump in my own back yard and instantly messing up the hard graft it takes to find fish and also locate venues. You'll notice many fishing channels run delays on video releases. If you check totally awesome fishings new videos he's currently fishing watmore farm in summer. Anyway hope you can understand what I'm trying to convey here to you

Do ya not read his channel up dates? I hoping I'm speaking for everyone else here but I'm as happy watching his delayed videos as his others.

What I'm trying to say mark is you don't post enough,...please take it tongue in cheek regarding my last post.
Always loved your posts because there isn't much about like yours. Your advice and the way you go about it is a lot different to the usual music filled rubbish on here. I fish a lot of the time like you and you don't see enough on UA-cam tbf.

@@kevt7931 kev that's absolutely fine I was just trying to explain as sometimes people don't understand the delays, I have to be careful with releasing some content too soon due to certain people hawking areas via the videos. I have already had a large youtube channel this season and seasons prior start "accidentally turning up". I know it's the nature of the beast when doing videos but that is why I was trying to explain to you mate as to why I sometimes delay certain species videos, in an effort to try and strike a balance in keeping the videos going and not ruining areas. It can be a mine field. Then I also have delays where I'm erratic releasing content at times due to home issues with myself and family. I know you understand mate I just like to be clear about things as I know it's not always easy to get things across on the videos.

I understand, I fish the upper trent which is make your own swim because its virgin water to a degree. I've watched posts of the trent and derbyshire derwent and can tell where they've been filmed (no wrong intentions) I like the peacefulness of no ones around and no one's been here for a long time if you understand.
