Your here because clay is like cocaine, it's a drug you get hooked, one day your watching Dan, the next your going a class, the next you have wheel and kiln and a bunch of relatives with pots for xmas.
Cool idea! I had an idea based on your idea/technique. What if you instead thew the 2nd piece upside down (with no bottom and a closed top)? That way you could invert the 2nd piece (batt up) and insert it while it is still wet (like the process for throwing a stacked 2-part vase). You could either make the inside short and suspended (like the one you made) or make it full height (so it is supported) and trim it the correct height.
i would be afraid of the pot collapsing once you start cutting. if the center pot isn't supported by the base, it's suspended from the top by the outer pot. and then once you start cutting, the thin parts that are left is all that's left to support the top and the center. but i guess if you make the center pot tall enough to rest on the bottom, there wouldn't be an issue. love your recent videos, man
I made one today based on your instructions . Thank you for sharing. You are an amazing artist. Thank you for the inspiration.
The knocking in your wheel has become iconic for me lol
These have always looked way too difficult. I am going to have to try this method. Thanks for the inspiration to try something new!
excellent idea Dan, you're right that making these the other way is a pain. Well done.
How fun and challenging. You always come up with the most inventive and amazing ideas. Well done you.
Beautiful! I watching your videos. Such a talented potter with great instructions. You make this look easy!
Beautifully done Dan, I guess you could even leave the inside detachable for easier emptying.
I like it! This is definitely a must try! Cheers Bob 🇬🇧
I think I'll try to do one. Thanks for the inspiration.

I guess the more popular you become, the more ads we have to put up with.
Good instruction..love your freehand art on the cut-outs
Hi youtube now place ads automatically within videos.
It's probably them being greedy rather than me.
Thanks.
Have you researched the Japanese Somayaki double wall pottery? I believe the pieces are thrown separately then joined together.
Man you are so talented! What would that pot be used for . ? The pot with in a pot with the nice carving? Cincinnati Ohio
