It seems that Carpenter has many fans in Germany. My first organ was a Baldwin. One thing I can say about Cameron’s playing is that far too often, he plays so rapidly and with muddied registrations, that it becomes impossible to actually hear the music. One question I have for him is what is wrong with the numinous that the organ is so capable of expressing. Yes, it is a machine, as is every other musical instrument. Another question I would have is to what extent does he know and have experience with one or another of the Hauptwerk virtual organ installations in existence. They are perhaps even more digital than the digital organs that preceded them, using sampled recorded sounds from the great organs of the world. I suspect that as Cameron gets older, his playing will solidify to the point that his focus will shift from himself and his obvious prodigious capabilities to the organ itself, ie how he can focus on coaxing the most beautiful and amazing music from the organ he’s playing on.
The Classical Era : 1750-1820, key figures : of the Musical Historical Cultural , the nine Key figures , two were ; C.P.E. Bach ( 1714-1788 ) and J.C. Bach ( 1735-1782) : in listening to the organ here is a more solid wave form i can feel it in my bones ! My head that is . Bravo its expressed in handclaps , the foot pedal control is profound ! A note of identification , i love music ! And in the first book of Moses if any pedagogy , Genesis Chapter 4:21 And his brothers name Jubal : he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ .thats as handle , but includes Handel .
Emulating what Virgil Fox was doing 50 years ago with his Rogers Touring organ! Except he was traveling with a light show too! Obviously a very skilled musician.
I want to see Cameron play the Midmer-Losch Atlantic City Convention Hall Organ when the restoration is finished. Either that or the Wanamaker organ in Philly.
A real organ breathes. Every electronic replica lacks this breath, this soul, no matter how good it is. It imitates the sound of organ pipes, nothing more!
@@Willorga1708bux : Olivier Latry, one of the greatest organists I know , said in an interview:"What I cannot understand is when we receive invitations from orchestras who want to play with us in places where there is no organ from the outset. So it would only work with an electronic organ. Then I say: 'No, I'm sorry. If you replace your strings with synthesizers, I might come. Or if you ask Martha Argerich or Maurizio Pollini to play a Clavinova. Otherwise not."
@@Klaus-ft1si Would you rather there be absolutely no organ at all where a real organ is not in the budget? The electronic replications, when setup and voiced well, can produce quite a convincing sound compared to a real organ. All it is is sound waves; It doesn't matter how those sound waves are generated.
@@cameronmcgehee And then we let a virtual organist sit on the organ bench and perform the service during a mass or maybe even play a concert. To put it in your words:" It doesn't matter how those sound waves are generated." Of course, I know that a good pipe organ is expensive. However, if you want to build or buy a good-sounding electronic organ (for example, according to the "Hauptwerk system"), then the purchase will also be expensive... and what do you get in return? An elaborately created imitation of real organs!
@@Klaus-ft1si hauptwerk installation of even 100k is still much cheaper than the millions for a real organ (not including continuous maintenance and repairs of a real organ). Your point is?
06:20-07:01 FACTS! I don't care what anyone else says, the statement at 06:20 is 100% fact! I'm personally glad I'm no longer a church organist because of this. Granted, I kinda miss playing the hymns, though I already have an idea related to that, which I hope to execute on that idea as soon as I can.
Cameron is someone I would call my friend for many reasons, and he is the greatest organist since Liszt or Reger…maybe of all time. He’s the first of his kind and may be the last. I love and hate that he exists. I quit playing after I met him. I continue to compose and love the music…but like it or not, there aren’t any artists of this caliber anywhere. Anybody that says anything negative about Cameron’s artistry is simply a jealous hater in my opinion. He is the final word in organ performance. Period.
I have to say, I am not a fan of some of his arrangmas, as some remind me of the sound of the "street organs" which I both positively have allergy to.... But this is just a question of taste and that's always personal. Putting that aside, he is truly an AMAZING GENIUS who I love to follow just to lift my spirit and gain hope in humanity! His performance is absolutely top and listening to him talking about music just screams "creative genius". Can feel the geniality behind every word he says. As amateur organist, I truly appreciate what he is bringing in and his anarchist "think for himself" attitude
Max Reger never was a great organist...Its known ,that he wasn't able to play his most difficult own organ compositions. As an extremely gifted organist, his friend Karl Straube had an enormous influence on Reger's compositional activities... I never said Cameron Carpenter wasn't a very good organist. His sometimes eccentric looks don't bother me at all!! But please don't glorify him. There are other organists who play at his level.
I would love to see Cam in the smiths center here in Las Vegas. What a great time this would be. He makes his international touring organ voice things I've never been able to accomplish on mine.
Carpenter has terrific technical ability. But over time, he has almost totally lost the discipline required to be a great organist. In particular, his timing is often terrible, with lurching, hands out of sync, etc. I am hoping he will grow out of this phase.
very interesting that begins with a strange statement for a supposed artist, something that gives indications that he is not, when he says: "my business is to control this machine". And the strange thing is that for a real musician this would not be a "business" and this would not be a "machine", but this would be an activity and this would be an instrument. He's just a mentality of a cold technician and not a poetic artist...

El virtuosismo sólo le es otorgado por el Creador a unos pocos, y éste es un gran ejemplo.

Very ugly console! And that organ sounds awful.
i wouldn't even sit in a race-car that wasn't from Italy.
