Thank you so much!! I hate to be out there in the dark so much but I work during the day and it's always dark when I get off!! I appreciate you hanging in there with me!! Thanks for watching!! 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks!! I try not to be too long because my sister comes peeping out the window. She doesn't like me being out there at old dark thirty either! 😂😂😂 Thanks for visiting Ms Linda!!
Thank you again for sharing Ms. Lisa. We watched your broccoli greens harvest and decided to try cauliflower, rutabaga and beet greens together. Mercy! They were so good seasoned and cooked down with some cornbread. Keep growing and teaching!
YAAAYYYYY!! I told you so! All brassica greens are delicious!! If the pests didn't eat them up, then you eat them! That's why I have tulle covering all my greens because I don't want that white moth to lay eggs and for the worms to come and eat up the greens!! So, when you pick just the outer big leaves, the young tender leaves growing from the center will grow big and you can come back and pick again later. Cut and come again! That also gives that root (turnip, rutabaga, beet, kohlrabi, and whatever else) or head (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and whatever else) more time to grow bigger! Thank you for sharing and Thank you for watching!! 🤗🤗🙌🏽🙌🏽
Wow that's a awesome harvest of greens Lisa. They really have grown. I pick a nice mess of greens today and they are good. I used the pick the leaves method. Thanks for the information it is very useful. Take care see you next time. ❤😊
That's great!! You got those good greens growing, and by the time you cook Thanksgiving dinner you can go pick fresh greens from your garden, and not have to buy those tough ones from the store! ☹️😉😂 And, using the cut and come again method, you could possibly be picking greens on into Spring time! 🤗🤗🤗
Well, I thank you so much! I really do appreciate you saying that!! Come back again anytime!! I'm always doing something over here!! Have a blessed day Mz Shirley!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Ohhhh yes ma'am!! Broccoli leaves are very good, and they are delicious cooked with Collards!! Brussel Sprout and Kohlrabi leaves are good too! 😉😉 The Rutabaga leaves look like the broccoli leaves but they are tender like the turnip greens and they taste a like turnip greens. I cook them together. Thank you so much for watching!! 😊😊
Beautiful harvest Lisa!! You have me wanting to try rutabaga leaves. 😊 I haven’t tried to grow rutabaga is a few years but, you inspired me to drop some seeds. We’ll see if I get anything. I do like fried rutabaga.😋 Happy harvesting!!🌱💚
They are very good!! Personally, I could grow rutabaga and not turnips because I love the greens and I like the root better than the turnip. But my family all love Turnip greens better, but I have turned one of my cousins on to the Rutabagas. My mother used to cook the Rutabaga. She would peal it and dice it and boil it real slow for hours. Then she added salt, pepper, and sugar. Oh, she would cook it with a smoked piece of meat. Then when it was done, she mashed it up like mash potatoes. We ate it with the greens. I have roasted Rutabagas too and it's good that way. I appreciate you visiting! Happy Gardening!! 🧑🏽🌾🌿🪴
We cut them up, we wash them in vinegar and water until clean, then we blanch them and put into freezer bags. We blanch by putting the greens in boiling water for 3 minutes, then put them in ice water and into freezer bags. Some people don't blanch. They just put them in bags. Some people say you lose the good flavor when you blanch.🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ Our mother blanched, so we blanch. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ When we cook our greens we make a good "pot liquor" and they turn out delicious every time we cook them, fresh or frozen!! 😉😉😂😂🤣🤣
❤❤❤ Beautiful harvest and Thank you for the info

Lisa how do you preserve your greens?

Please tell me what do you use for ants when they get into your garden?
I use Diatomaceous Earth mostly, and sometimes I use cinnamon.
How often with the fish fertilizer?
Hello! I fertilize every 10 - 14 days
@gardeningwithlisa thank you.
