I have done this pinwheel technique like 5 years ago. I used like six different shades of blue. It was amazing, best color I have ever had. You're awesome!!

i had this hair! a few diff blues, some purples, some pinks, and like 2 greens. it was my fav hair i’ve ever had!

on of the best ways to do a pinwheel is to have ur part line fall in the middle of a triangle. would give the front piece the same colour. so if pink was that front triangle the front top section looks pink rather than split dye but then have ur normal rainbow pattern through the rest

I'm planning to do this on my mom! She's finally decided to grow out her natural grey hair. She's not full white tho. She has smokey grey and dark grey. So I'm planning to do three colors: Her natural white at her bangs/part, then a dark neutral grey mid, and a dark not quite black.
I'm thinking the natural variation in her greys paired with the pinwheel of similar colors will give her a really cool variation of going grey. Something that says I'm going grey with style.
Thanks for the tutorial! It's mind boggling how common photos are but tutorials are rare for this technique.
Absolutely stunning result and your execution was FLAWLESS. You did such a fantastic job. I have always loved rainbow hair but this technique is by far my favorite now and I just can't wait to do it for myself. I have been black for way too long because we were moving house and renovating 3000sf. Only 2 more rooms left and I can start putting colors back into my hair again. woot!
Love this look!! When I was in school almost 20 years ago we did my hair all black with a diamond sectioned out on the top of my head that we sectioned into the exact same pattern alternating black & red plus my hair was over 3 feet long ❤️🖤 that was when zig zag part was cool so one side of my head looked black with red highlights & the other side looked red with black highlights

It is a fun versatile look for sure. I also did it with chocolate brown & blonde about 7 years ago but really loved the black & red 😁

You can probably still bleach (most of) your hair, I think you'd just have to accept that you won't be able to bleach it up to the roots. Ooh, you could even do just the ends of your hair with a rainbow pinwheel or something!

I have done this with emerald, fuschia, and purple. Loved every minute of the color.

I used this technique when I did rainbow hair on myself last summer. It was my absolute favorite hair I’ve ever had and I got compliments constantly. Even my teenage son keeps telling me to do it again!! I’m very tempted to bring it back. 😬 But I also want to do teal again. So I might wait until next year? 🤷🏻♀️ I love rainbow hair but it always feels more summery? Thoughts? Rainbow now or wait until next year? 🤔
