      That does make sense.
      I think when I got in the vehicle and I was selecting the modes that allow you to go into different settings, such as Mud/rut, ECO, etc I may have initially chosen the mode that was more suited for pavement. I probably could have left it in standard mode and allowed the intelligent AWD system to do its job.

    Fun to watch how you took care of these situations. At far as being in cold weather, did have you water system shut down? Also what did you rely on for heat? Ekkos propane heater all night or something else electric heater?

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599  7 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for checking out our video.
      No, we had no issues with the water system shutting down.
      The nice thing is the EKKO design, where all of the water lines are kept on the interior side of the vehicle, rather than running on the exterior.
      In one of our other videos, we also insulated the compartment where the main water control valves and winterization controls are located. If you happen to watch it, there’s a spot between the driver side bed platform and the control valve box. Previously when this was un insulated, we did have an issue with one of the plastic tea fittings.
      We leave the Truma aqua heating system on all night. Depending what your comfort level is, you can set it anywhere such as 68 to 72° and stay extremely cozy especially if you put the thermal blanket up between the cab and the main living space.
      Let me know if you got any other questions and thanks again for checking out our channel.

How nice!!! You two looked great...Winnebago will sell a ton of EKKOs with you two as official "models"!!! PS: I like alot of what I saw...just wondered how they ride versus how your ride is with the modifications to your suspension in your "TrEKKO"....Did you get to drive the SprEKKO about?

    Another awe inspiring video. Amazing snow adventure. Thanks for sharing. Hey, how about more on how to deal with all the condensation in cold weather. We find we have to towel down the upper corner all around the ceiling for to the thermal transfer of the cold up there and the front Ford windows. I tried to put fan on 10% and barely crack the window on my side of bed, but boy does it get cold! So I end up closing the window and shutting off the fan.

    Great video! Very helpful to see the Ekko in action in snow country. We're heading to ski country and planning to winter camp in our Ekko. Lots of mountain roads require vehicles to carry chains. Do you have any recommendations for chains, cables, etc? Some say AWDs should chain all wheels. What are you guys doing?

    Curious how you don't have lots of condensation on the windows. I've seen other RVs with lots of water on the windows after such a cold night. Do you do something specific to keep the water/condensation levels down? TIA

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599  7 місяців тому +2

      Great observation Robert. There are a few things we have done that help. Leave a link in the description for one which is rechargeable dehumidifiers. The other thing, is you can set the MaxFan (roof vent on low and that helps out a lot) just the lowest of settings will make a difference.
      There generally is some on the Front windshield for sure, but we’ve been lucky recently with a few new practices.

    Yes I read the descriptions, and do you carry water with you in your freshwater tank, or have you already winterized your Ekko? Just curious. Thank you for another amazing video!

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599  6 місяців тому

      Thank you Emily for the kind response. In respect to checking out the description.
      Also more Importantly to us thank you so much for watching our videos and subscribing.
      Also, I love your questions.
      We have not winterized our EKKO we are still using it.
      However, we do drain the systems while it’s parked in case those nights when it drops down.
      The fortunate thing about the Winnebago EKKO, they have put all of the waterlines within the interior part of the chassis. A lot of manufactures have the waterlines running underneath the vehicle which expose them to the elements as well as road hazard.
      We also took time to insulate our exterior shower water control system, which we have a video on.
      That helped out as well. It’s considered a four season vehicle.
      By the way, how are you all doing with your travels. I understand you have a very very cool fifth wheeler.

    • @ekkonesters599
      @ekkonesters599  6 місяців тому

      Yes, we do carry water in our freshwater system. If that was your direct question, I may have misunderstood. But we stay on top of it and respect to keeping it as fresh as possible.
      I highly recommend a triple filtration system.

      Hello, thanks for checking out the commercial. It was amazing to be apart of the Winnebago EKKO Sprinter release. We had 3 solid days of driving, exploring different terrain and really putting the new Chassis to the test. We were more than impressed with the vehicle’s capabilities from numerous standpoints. Everything from the interior comforts, storage capabilities, handling and driver predictability were just a few things.
      I have a question, Michelle and I are considering doing a live UA-cam question and answer session.
      Would this be something you would be interested in watching and being a part of? My thought would be the viewers could engage with us, asking us questions about our experience, the vehicle, and anything that draws curiosity about the EKKO. Let me know your thoughts.

    Why would you even attempt to try and drive a class C RV on that road, in that snow, with those kind of inclines..........smh. The Ekko has AWD but its meant for snow on public roads and at the most fire roads. Your trying to drive it on road conditions meant for a Jeep Rubicon with 37 inch tires. Your giving your "expert" analysis on driving on snow but to be candid, if you knew half as much as your professing you would have never even attempted going down that road.

      Hello Robert, Thanks for stimulating a little conversation and I appreciate our candid comments and perspectives. I believe there's more to explore in understanding your viewpoints. Firstly, we are well-versed in the various areas, roads, and typical conditions of this NW region. Initially, as evident in the video, the approach and road conditions aligned with our familiarity and the equipment we possess as well as the time of day and weather.
      Without extensively reiterating the video's storyline that led to your particular concerns, I'll share this insight. While navigating the road, numerous other vehicles, including sedans and 4x4 Toyota Four Runners, had already traversed it. As highlighted in the video, while progressing down the road toward our destination, which involves an exit from this particular route, we encountered a blocked section due to a Toyota ahead. This necessitated a change in our course. Ordinarily, we would have executed the turn more smoothly, as noted in the video where we used our traction boards. However, another vehicle's improper positioning hindered the ease of this turn.
      During this time, our EKKO struggled to gain traction in a specific area. Instead of escalating the situation in panic, we utilized our recovery boards. Within moments, we resumed our journey down the road, even in reverse. This, in itself, suggests that the conditions were manageable for the AWD system.
      While I wouldn't claim expertise in 4x4 or off-road recovery, I do possess extensive experience with various vehicles, including our EKKO, in conditions far more demanding than those depicted in this video. I typically find that a combination of pre-scouting, carrying proper recovery gear, and drawing upon a base of knowledge while staying composed can aid in most situations.
      I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts and engage in this conversation. Feel free to explore our other videos showcasing situations far more challenging than this. As for the snow, my concern wasn't primarily about its depth, especially given its packable nature that allowed confident travel. Rather, it was the specific icy patch where we needed to execute the maneuver that posed a challenge.
      Lastly, assuming you finished the video I you’ll see a snow park area where we helped another vehicle “sprinter” via our equipment. While we may challenge ourselves to learn and discover, we understand safety and boundaries. In conclusion, I’m pretty sure that this road did not lend itself to the need of 37” tires mounted on a Rubicon.

      @ekkonesters599 I re read my post and it came across a tad bit snarky and critical, for that I apologize. I do really appreciate the time you took with such a lengthy explanation and response. I do love the Ekko and I am now a subscriber.
