- We can`t celebrate 70 years of WPIX without talking about The Magic Garden. That`s right, Carole Demas and Paula Janis of The Magic Garden join us in Levittown! Airing from 1972 to 1984 these two women had a lasting impression on children and adults.
So many memories.... that I have never forget the show The Magic Garden... After 52 years, the legacy and the legend of The Magic Garden continues....
11 Alive...
Thank you very much ❤️🤍❄️💙🥧☕🇺🇸⌚😢💎🌈
Can't say enough how much these 2 ladies meant to me growing up in the early 70's here in New Jersey. I never missed a show... even by the time I was in high school I'd still make time for "The Garden". I even learned guitar and have worked with children in Kindergarten and Pre-K. Thanks to these 2 amazing women.
How wonderful! Thank you for sharing. For some reason I also loved the Magic Garden. Last month I rented a cabin in the woods the views were amazing, I called the front my Magic Garden. I guess for me the show signified peace. Stay well & many blessings to ya.
Wow, what a great comment to read.
So many fond memories flooding back. Thank you ladies for giving me a great childhood. Shows today cannot hold a candle to you two.
Carole and Paula had such a huge impact on me as a small child, along with Mister Rogers.
Me too! Mister Rogers and Electric Company too. "HEY YOU GUYS!"
@@NJgateway The Electric Company was good but Paula, Carole, and Mister Rogers were very special in the bonds that they formed with small children.
@@YouthFreedomFighters Yes, I agree.
Thank you I'm 50 n still remember n love the magic garden.
Me too. I loved the magic box and the flower riddles. The 80s were the best
Dude, I would hug these woman if I met them. They were amazing. Modern TV is atrocious.
Me too!!! Lol Me too
I've met them and they are exactly as they seem. They're really outstanding.
@@mstwelvedeadlycyns I would cry like a baby if I saw these two.I would also thank them endlessly for all the years of entertainment from this Jersey kid. When the mention of them being friends since 1954 came up,I thought to myself..TMI!
It certainly is. No more innocence for children, just brain dead trash. If this was produced today it would probably be laughed at and ridiculed. Whatever happen to simplicity?
im 55 and still love this show
I loved watching them as a child. I especially loved the magic chest and the chuckle patch. I'm so greatful that I grew up in the 70's. I would hate to be growing up now with all the technology and being glued to a cell phone at a young age. When you watched TV in the 70's you either saw it or missed it. There was no way to record a show or watch something on demand and you had to walk over to the TV to turn the channel all 12 stations if that... And I wouldn't have changed it for a second kind of wish it was still like that. Better times and better TV programs.
Aah the Magic Chest
I really do love appreciate that WPIX has kept in touch with its history, and so thankful to see this interview from a couple of years ago. (now here comes the "but") BUT....I really don't know if all involved with this broadcast truly have an idea of how much these women mean to the history of that station, and to those of us kids who were lucky enough to watch "The Magic Garden" every day. Carole & Paula deserve so much more than a rushed 3 minute segment. And at the very least, they deserved to have their interview done in the studio where the mics work, and not part of some remote in a parking lot! As a kindergarten kid in 1972, it would mean the world to finally meet these amazing ladies.
I was blessed enough to be in contact w/ Carole about 12 or 13 years ago. She was really sweet. I adored this show and last year I took the DVD set to my pre-school and my kids LOVED it!! It still works, folks!
That’s great to hear. You familiar with Today’s special? Once I sorta outgrew the magic garden, I started watching Today’s special. My kids watch the magic garden and now are watching today’s special. Kids shows today just don’t hold a candle to shows like the magic garden. Loved romper room and pinwheel as well. Cheers Paula and Carole.
The Magic Garden was literally one of my favorite memories from my childhood … WPIX 11 is about to celebrate 75 years and I would like to thank them for having such a gem of a show on back then. I would love to see this show some how some way make a reappearance in this modern time and of course having Carole and Paula being a part of that some how would be awesome. Thank you Carole Demas and Paula Janis for making my childhood a better one with your show 😊
I used to watch that show! I forgot it even existed! I know now I'm getting old! 😂
Oh... love them both so much! They brought happiness into my childhood with every episode! I wish they made shows like this for children today. They look wonderful still, such warm and captivating smiles!
It reminds me of so many happy times with my Mom. She taught kindergarten for over 35 years and used to bring in her guitar to class and sing. How she had the courage and the passion to do that for her kids, I don’t know. I later subbed in her school and all the kids were so thrilled that I was her daughter. It’s like I was a celebrity’s kid. Although, I couldn’t come close to the magic she performed in the classroom, I tried. Love The Magic Garden and my wonderful Mom. ❤️
I loved this show as a 3rd grader when the show premiered. Thanks for the memories.
YES! I still have that album! Great to see the girls again!
I was from Nassau county L.I..born 1975(do the math...)Carole and Paula!!!,...."How Can I get an autograph"....Sherlock to!!!!...thoose were such happy times!!..My mom disapproved alot of childrens shows, but i fondly remember her smiling when i got entranced, and i have to say it....God i must of been 8 or 9, but i distinctly know for a fact,that....uumm..."i liked girls alot!!!!....and music!!!...so glad there alive and happy...k...gonna look up "Sherlock"skits....."i always got excited when Sherlock the squirrel had his time on show!!!

@@mstwelvedeadlycyns The bird’s name was Flapper. Great childhood memories!
It's sooooo nice to see them. They were a great pair for that show.

I loved them as a child! Sherlock and the Chuckle Patch and, of course, the great singing talents of Carole and Paula are great memories!
The bird
Loved this show in those years!
Loved this show growing up
I remember watching 'The Magic Garden' in the early 1970s; these women were very talented, glad they received recognition for their efforts.
We still adore them.
We love u both
Bring back the show....please :)
Flashback
God bless 🙏
Love that show still 💯❤️😘
They started when I was still in kindergarten. I did not admit to my fellow kindergarteners that I watched it then. I was too proud.
Two Proud Brooklynites indeed!
I met Paula at the Newark,NJ Libary in the 80s.When I was in college. She was a real hoot!
I used to love listening for my name 😍
To be on TV for 12 straight years is something to be very proud of
How many people have pulled that off?
So many good memories. God is good.😄
This is the best magic garden ❤
I LOVE THE STORY BOX SCENE
I had a crush on both of them when I was little. :)

I wasn’t born until the tenth season of the show, and in Los Angeles rather than NYC. Looks like I missed out on something good.
Carole still looks good for her age. She'll be 80 this year.
I love the magic garden of make believe thank you channel 11 for bringing back today walked back memories when I was a kid I love soup Actor actresses singers
Love then!🥰💕❤️🙏🏻☮️🌻
Good god i had that record as a kid. My mom even took me to see them at brooklyn college.
This need’s to come back on the rerun’s.
I MISS MY PRESCHOOL DAYS
I had to be about 6 yrs old, but I had the biggest crush on Carole
Carole and paula are great
Looking back from the vantage point of 2022, The Magic Garden, The Electric Company, and Zoom all seem to be the “offspring” of Sesame Street.
The one thumbs down must be for the sound quality. Those two still look fantastic!
Amazingly beautiful women
CAROLE AND PAULA WITH PUPPET SHERLOCK BEST SCENE EVER MADE
They make me feel like a GLORIOUS SMURF.. Happy Times..🤣😜🤔
Brings back memories!!!
loved carole and paula. and mr rogers and captain noah
When do the DVDs come out? I used to watch this in Upstate NY.
My mom told me about them
Had that record. I scribbled all over it.
The Magic Garden had a street value of $16.2 million.
They will be at Chiller Theatre Expo in April in N.J. www.chillertheatre.com
12 years? Most WB/CW shows (even the good ones) didn't last that long!
Volume is way too low....
You would think they could have given them more than 3 minutes time! Everything in TV is so rushed it's so annoying! Gotta go to a commercial! Hurry up! That's one thing I love about podcasts on the internet. The hosts can take their time with the guests!
Whose dumb idea was it to conduct this interview outside?!?
Which one is Carole and which one is Paula.
Carole is the blonde, and Paula is the brunette.
