I come back to watch this every so often to remember our roots. Thanks for the upload here. P.S.: I just recently scored a 21:29, and 20 years later I'm still using a lot of the same routing, ha! I even started practicing by replacing CCM with Peach's Slide, too. I'm practicing LBLJs to start on the more modern routing, but it's a struggle for sure.
The thing that stands out most to me about this run is how clean it is. It might be slow by todays standards but that's a strats limitation and not a skill one
Ah yes, this is the first person who speedrun 16 star back in 2004 I found the actual first person who speedrun mario 64 back in 2004 that didn't BLJ, the category was 70 star, I will try to find it. 16 star: illudude 120 star: Spiderman88mil 70 star:
This is cool. You could publish some history videos talking about the early days of speedrunning. What was it like? If you told non-speedrunners what you were up to-- what did they say? That kind of flavor would be interesting.
@@Wookis Even better is that this was legit perhaps the first recorded 16-star world record ever. @raminmannan2887, you'd learn a lot reading the video's description!
Looks better than Liam's old 120 star wr! And this footage is less than 2 years away from being able to drink in the US

LBLJ is not that hard to learn
No practice ROMs, no tutorial videos or wiki pages to follow for routing, actually incredible.
The good old pre-lakitu skip days lol
A mí también me dio risa ver que no hiciera el lakitu skip

Nice quality for 2004

This isn't the first SpeedRun but probably the first recorded one the first SpeedRun was 19th June 2004 with a time of 27:00
No way you’re still playing. That’s crazy I’m glad your still running the game! :)
Just started again, barely ran it since 2004 mostly other games.
I've been playing games for over 20 years myself even played a little in the late 90s, and I still play every day
