The young woman has been an inspiration to many young players. She will be OK and the O Committee for shame...
On this showing Team USA is not only "too good for its own good" it's too good for the good of the entire women's game. Players who can play at 80% and still win aren't hungry, and don't want to be shown up, especially by a more talented rookie. The fact that she is demonstrably a more popular draw than any of them rubs them raw as well. And they are too entitled, too selfish, too small-minded to put their fragile egos aside for the good of the game tomorrow rather than their own interests today. Shame on them all, but especially the selectors who let themselves be bullied.

The WNBA is mired in the past, captive of too many irrelevant old "stars" like 42 year old Diana Turasi who has five gold metals already but apparently needs to have six. Clark was not chosen by the WNBA leadership because of its concern over how Caitlin Clark’s millions of fans would react to what would likely be limited playing time. Putting their heads together, the WNBA leadership, instead of giving Caitlin Clark limited playing time, decided to give Caitlin zero playing time, and kept her off the team. Brilliant. What is the WNBA leadership concern now? They need not be concerned. No one will be watching.

Has a player who was selected faced a constant two person defense geared against her the entire game for every game? Has a selected player been on a very weak team which allows the defense to plan an attack solely to stop her? Has a selected player been on m team that does almost no tough screens to get her open? With that = she has, high scoring, high assist, almost perfect free throw numbers, and high rebounds = What else is necessary to be in the mix and better than her so far this year? May be one of the on and off older injured players who were selected will not be able to play and she could be a sub?

Old Guard committee members looking out for their own. Rather than thinking about the future of the sport, increasing revenue, and growing the game internationally, they are more interested in maintaining some harmony within the team, which means no body caring about women's basketball.
The veteran WNBA players that have 3 or 4 GOLD medals just can't or are unwilling to pass the baton to the younger players, rookies or not. In 4 years the hype may have worn thin and yet another blown opportunity for WNBA and women's basketball worldwide. More is the pity.

Re: “Stacked Roster.” As many have previously stated, Diana Taurasi is not one of the 12 best wbb players. Further, I would argue that Griner isn’t either! Plus, considering Griner’s previous questionable conduct-taking the knee’ and walk offs before the anthem is played-many, many Americans ask: does she deserve a spot of the roster. I say no, no, no!! There should be 2 opened positions on the U.S. roster!
