Brian Edmond 2hrs cutting approx 2 acres or 8-10 hrs pulling trailer on a charge Converting to battery power is a great idea for a garden tractor I converted one 15yrs ago, I used the 3 separate motor design and it is still cutting grass on a daily basis, it is amazing how it never breaks down and needs almost no maintenance, I renew the batteries every 7 yrs I am just on my 3rd set now, my design will cut up to 2 acres on a 50cent charge there are no belts or pulleys and no oil on the entire tractor, it can pull a trailer for about 8hrs on a charge, because battery run time is the most important aspect of most conversions I paid particular attention to the most efficient design, I used 3 separate small motors one for the drive with electronic speed control and two smaller with a cutter blade mounted on the shaft of each cutter motor ,total amperage when cutting grass is approx 40amps, (2000watts) this design only uses the battery power req to do the job, very little wasted battery power, it uses magnetic breaking of both tractor and cutter blades and automatically applies parking brake when you stop or get off the seat, an amazing tractor. electrictractor.net
I appreciate your can do creativity but putting the drive belt on the power take off with the engine running is a good way to loose a few fingers. Also, be careful pulling logs. My neighbor was killed pulling logs with his tractor. He attached his logging tow chain slightly above his tractor's back axle. When the log he was pulling hit a stump it suddenly stopped but the tractor's inertia and engaged clutch caused his tractor to pull up and flip back over on top of him. If he had attached the tow chain below the back axle, when the log hit the stump, it would have forced the front of his tractor down instead of up and he would probably be alive today.
Tn Flash AND, I wished your friend had a ROPS on his tractor, that may have saved his life by keeping the tractor from smashing him. He may had some minor injuries, verses death. Just my 2 cents. Safety first, but I reached 74+ years old by doing stupid stuff, ya know my children think so! Brahaha!
put washer fluid in your rear tires for weight. it won't freeze, is less corrosive than the calcium they use in larger tractors, and adds 8 lbs. of weight per gallon. about 3/4 full, and then fill with air to desired pressure.
The tractor is your own build,, I was harsh,,, reason for my first comment, I lost 2 fingers down to the first knuckle,, so when I see a crude, or dangerous invention, etc, I cri ge knowing what could happen as did to me,, take care play safe.

Are you simply putting the belt on while running? Or is there some idler or clutch that I can't see. Reason is I would like a simple winch on mine. Also were you just tripping the belt when it had pulled full? I have wandered about the strength of the transmission you have used. Is it holding up well to the stresses you have been putting on it without any issues? I have several carts to build to be used as service carts in a factory. I've wandered if those gear boxes would hold up to pulling tool chest and broken parts araound all day for years to come. Please respond back because you have built and testing the waters. Thanks for all your videos
+Phil Lowman this was only a test and i just put belt on. For proper use it would need idler pulley for cluch. There is enough power and speed for logging. Gearbox sure can take some heavy action in this scale and its made in 80's so long term use has been proven

My man! I totally get it. I spend hours every week performing forestry maintenance on 5 acres. This is pretty close to what I'm going to put together. Cool video, thanks bub.
I've cut lots of dead trees for fire wood in my day, and one thing's for sure, if you're in the woods and on a good slope, you can't always just pull them with the tractor. In which case it would be good gain for not much effort at all! After cutting hauling and bucking & stacking a chord a day, I know I was very glad for the winch on my tractor! I also know I'm sure glad to see young men doing their own work AND using their minds in creative ways to overcome challenges. People can back seat drive all they want, but this young man did this on his own, and I'm proud of what he did, even though I don't know him, GREAT JOB!! Plus it seems he kept all of his digits, so he's ahead of the game!
Keep up the good work,,, I surpose if it weren't for people like u and many others,,my self included,, no good machinery would ever get built,,, big equipment firms better what you and many others do,, with out small time inventors there be fuck all. Play safe.
Another great video, thanks. You have inspired me, I am going to get started on a new project or two. Been thinking about building a stationary bandsaw mill with a log trolley, it would be nice to have a special built tractor to move it around. Soon as I can get these old bones moving, I will start on that and post new videos. Thanks again.
What e Dream !!!!!! Beautiful Traktor !!! SUPER work!! Ein Traum von Traktor,....und das Grundstück !!! Herrlich !! Was würde ich mir so ein Grundstück gefallen !!!!

Put it on U Tube so we can see it .
Exactly what I need around the farm. Well done nice build !
a thought, a belt clutch would have been good on that pulley set , nice build though
+Shane D Stokes i did not have long enought belt at that time and now i have alternator so electric winch next if needed
built my own tractor with 3 point linkage lift manual sort like the vintage sears GT's 8 HP b & s engine, electric clutches are good & strong

This winch was more like a proof of concept and now i have electric winch. :)

Не валяй дурака ...
Parabéns. Ficou excelente.
I could have picked that log up and carried it to the house in half the time.
Cool little toy though.
i could have carried 4 of them at one time
What transmision (gearbox)you use? Nice tractor you made. Well done☺
Thanks. Gearbox is from old rear engine lawnmower.
Peerless 700
be careful man.dont waıtıng the front sıde. the back side of the ropes can break .hello from turkey. adana
You're missing a cap and overalls. XD
Very good 👍👍👍
Wow converted nice..
awesome way too lose your fingers
why
@@makeitborn9614 his fingers will go inbetween the belt and pulley

Yeah kick the shit out of it!! That's one of my preferred methods for making things cooperate too.
I like your creativity, but you your fingers are in danger!

Молодец Лайк от меня , я тоже что то подобное хочу собрать .
Where did you get the gearbox from?
Awesome.
that was painful just hook on the strap and pull the log

It's not a garden tractor if it has a six horse engine but creative
garden tractors have been built with as little as 4 horse power engines. I own a 1960 Wheel Horse Suburban 400 with an original 4hp Tecumseh

you might want to do some research on vintage GT's before saying that , 4 HP & up IN GT's
next time be more careful not to run over the weed plant's

I see a missing finger in the future ! lmao.....
neat tractor but what were all those steps you took ? Just drag the log already
to much work and way to many step one thing get 12 volt electric clutch ..can be found ac pump in junk yard use them as pto clutch
John Hunt your just lazy he smart
Zack Trautmann smart at loosing fingers?
4 bolt wheels w 2 lug nuts , love it ! so many things to comment on the video , one more subscriber 👍💪
Its none of My Business ...But you should Kick it Harder ...and Shout !
Бред куча лишней работы,это чтоб просто дома не седеть
Опасная у тебя лебёдка!
little gain for so much effort,,, did not need the winch period,,, just pull the log
I think that was just to demonstrate
It was a demonstration. He wasn't doing it out of necessity.

Great tires & Rims love them. Nice setup
Give address, will send lug nuts.
таким трактором можно 10 штук за раз притянуть
good job but I think you need more weight on back tires ,
30kg tractor wheel weight and it will be perfect
Its like T-72 ...maybe it works, maybe it wont and blow up.

How much weight can it pull for MAXIMUM
6.5HP can do THAT much work? I'm planning to build a two seater kart with a 7.5HP and wondering if that can haul 2 people plus some load.
6.5hp can do work at low speed, but bigger vehicle can be better with more hp. 7.5hp can work very well, but 15hp engines are also affortable
Muy bueno. Excelente. Pretendo construir uno con motor y caja de algún automóvil pequeño. Me funcionará ..??saludos desde 🇨🇱 chile
When I was a kid my dad built a little tractor like this but it had a Ford flathead V8 and a 4 speed truck transmission.
I had a log like that in my back yard. I just put it over my shoulder and carried it to the house like a man.
Same thinking. Lose time to build crap. :)
No falla el sistema alver
Cuando no quiere entrar una pieza
( anvergaso .) Golpe con patada
Iam sure back up, tie on the cable, and off we pop,,, obviously,, this was a demo of the winch,,, tractor looks like a mad max job.,,, shit.
How to make it
Nice
Looks like a nice set up but a very good way to loose all your fingers you never put a belt on a running engine
Side PTO very cool !
Nice ... Which gear box u used???
Thank you. i used a lawn mower transmission peerless 700 series.
Sounds a little lean, try a larger jet in the carb...
That's the kind of thing you'll get away with for a long time, and then one day you lose some body parts.
Outstanding and handy machine!
Love to see custom builds like yours. Very nice
