the 725 was my favorite when I was on Armstrong. I used it a ton for wing downwinders (before switching to the 525) and a few times for Foil Drive assisted SUP foiling donwinders, before I sold everything and switched to F-One. Now loving the Eagle 690 for those. Not quite as fast as the 725, but a lot easier and a hell lot of fun. Lately I did a wing downwinder with a borrowed HA580, and I found the speed range tremendously shifted towards slow speeds. Stall speed was amazing low, but top speed not even close to the good old 725... or at least to my memory of it from a year ago. You got a more updated and reliable comparison between 725 and 580? Just curious. For sure, the area number doesn't mean much at all anymore...
Yea I definitely feel that. I tried the 580 and 725 back to back and the 580 had a much more user friendly bottom end. You can really stomp on the pump on that wing and it won’t stall. The 725 requires much more finesse in the pump to not stall. The 725 had a bit better top end which was interesting to see. Obviously the 725 doesn’t turn as well as the 680 but really interesting to compare the speed ranges of the two. Going to try the 525 SUP DW if we get a nuking day.
Slightly better top end at the expense of a lot of bottom end and glide. Was fun to be able to pull onto the big swell and stay with up but probably not an everyday wing for dw.
