I disagree with the "legacy" part of the defensive player of the year award. Rudy is the best defensive player or not - THIS YEAR- and that's it. No one does that when we talk about offensive player even though it's way easier to score now.
He's not the best defender in the league. He's the best defender on the best defensive team.
Wemby takes one of the worst defenses ever and turns them into a top 10 defense. Check the on/off numbers. Rudy isn't having that kind of impact, ever.

Probably my last time watching this show. I’m done with Boogie’s takes. The hate on Gobert is crazy, but argues SGA should be the mvp coz of his defense.
Also, being asked to show up at least 65 games in a season to win an award is reasonable. You can’t be employee of the year, and be absent more than 20% of the time. Availability is an ability too.

Chris Broussard had a great take on this... what is the point difference with, or without that particular player on the floor. For Wemby it is 6.1pts, for Gobert it is 0.7pts difference.
