  • Perhaps the biggest impediment to believing in God (as stated by those who don’t) is the presence of pain and suffering in the world. How can there be a God who is benevolent and omnipotent with the sheer volume of grief, misery, travail, and torment at any given moment? Today we explore the theme of a loving God in a universe pockmarked by pain. As Jesus was in Jerusalem with His disciples, they came across a blind man. I’d like to show you four features of this most common and universal of human experiences.
This teaching is from the series 20/20: Seeing Truth Clearly with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church
    0:00 Introduction
    6:43 Pain Produces Questions
    15:06 Pain Defies Our Explanations
    27:36 Pain Requires Clarification
    36:20 Pain Brings an Obligation

I have 2 granddaughters, one 45, one 39, who have been hurt emotionally and physical as children. They don’t want to believe in a God who allows children to suffer. I will share this with them one day, praying for the Lord to show me when. I sent his message on bitterness to both of them, l’m waiting on the Lord to do His work with that message. Then He can let me know when to send this message. The Lord is and has used Skip to touch several of my family members, my youngest granddaughter introduced me to Skip, she LOVES him. And so do I.🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️

This was an excellent teaching…I’ve learned many lessons over the years with debilitating chronic pain. I’m currently re-reading a book written by Michael Card years back “A Sacred Sorrow” and its helping me process the loss of a dear friend. Lamenting in worship. Thanks from Canada ❤️🇨🇦

Thank you for the talk. Yes there are benefits to pain but in no way can that explain pain, sorrow, suffering. I am close to Jesus Christ, am Christian and catholic. Yet I believe in karma. Pain not necessarily caused as a result of anything we have done in this lifetime but from other lifetimes of the soul. The sins we are born with that come from our many lifetimes - Original Sin. And hence when Jesus cured people He said, Go, your sins are forgiven. … Your karma is cleansed.

As interesting as this theory is, it has no grounds in the bible. Karma complete theory is that those actions inturn determine how you will be born.
The word tells us however we are first born of the flesh and then must be born of the spirit. Upon our death your belief in Gods word or believe in christ is what saves you (as all sin has been paid for).
Let me know if you ever want to spar on ideas.
