～ This Album ～
Finally, the last single-album video. Here goes to the first Final Fantasy game sequel. It features the most personnel for a Piano Collection, for 6 artists, and there's a huge staff shift here... 5 out of them were never seen before nor the future since then, and it doesn't quite retain any of the traditions of Final Fantasy music. Okay but this isn't a criteria for judging whether the music is good or bad. This is only for those who are obsessed into I-IX and being nostalgic, which is invalid to me.
Still, I don't quite like its OST's gone-too-far pop style - just my taste of course - its Piano Collection, however, gives a pretty good interpretation. I especially like Sayama's improvisational writing, he really drives the piano lively. This album explores the instrument's modern and irrational side, for its heavy-shifted rhythm, irregular times, a bit of modern instrumental techniques, which could stand a special and clear place out of other Piano Collections.
Ah, pay attention, it's "Final Fantasy X-2 Piano Collection" without "s", not "Piano Collections: F..." It's quite special, even for it's title.

～ About the Project ～
There are many people here who do play the piano. To these people, these piano arrangements then doesn't only worth at listening to, but also reading the score. At least for me, I enjoy reading the score while listening to them very much. I can look at what's exactly going on in the music.
Since there is no one doing the scrolling score presentation of the Final Fantasy Piano Collections / Opera series, I'm taking this project then.

これ凄い。凄すぎる。
元々の曲も最高にいい曲だけど（ときどき聞こえるシンセがうるさいが）、これはちょっと次元が違うというか、ぶっ飛んでる。
最初はこれ何の曲？ってなるんだけど、聞いたことがあるフレーズが出てきてホッとしたのもつかの間、
その後どんどん感動の嵐が全身を包み込んでくる。ラストはもう号泣もの。
ピアノって凄いんだなと改めて思わされた。
this album was so instrumental in my musical and personal upbringing. I never played any of the games but was obsessed with the music and bought both the album and the sheet music sometime around 2007-08. this collection stands out among the series with its super overt jazz influences too. I've always loved "Wind Crest" and "Akagi Party" and "Demise"... the opening of Demise is so unusual, asking the pianist to touch the string to change its timbre/resonance, and the way it is a slow, spiraling build, unexpected for a battle theme, haunting and strange.
I'm now a pianist and composer ("for a living") and I don't know where I would be without this music, that was written specifically to bring us to other worlds, to have us believe in them... really special. thanks for putting this together.
I'm so glad to hear that someone who isn't a gamer really appreciates and has been inspired by this music. Ever since I first heard them in the game, I thought these songs were incredibly magical and beautiful and that they deserved a wider audience. :)
That’s inspiring
You should try to play them. The story that occurs is easily brought back to mind by the music when you hear it again. That may help you create more evocative music. Also pretty much every final fantasy game is good. Some are better than others, but 7 and X have very immersive stories and have multiple sequels to further expand the story and this also have more music associated. 13 is similar to them as well Although not quite as well regarded. I personally also like 4 and 6. The dancing dolls theme from 4 was a ring tone for me for awhile. And the opera from 6 was fun as well.
I just love the sort of fake climax at 47:00.
I mean, after these big crescendos and rythmic mantras, you're waiting for an explosion on the inital theme, something epic, but the result is in fact quite soft and reserved. It's beautiful.
Definitely my favourite Piano Collections album. Eternity ~Memories etc~ is the tune that got me into playing the piano in the first place. Sadly I still cannot play the piano, but I do love following the score as the music plays. Thanks!
