I love my lola too! She raised me and my brothers as well (not because my parents were meanies like yours but it was a sacrifice they had to make to give us a better education). She taught me a lot of things and I still think about her everyday even if she passed away over a decade ago. What she did for you when you were younger is probably one of the reasons you were able to overcome all the hardships you went through.
