As always Bruce, a well delivered, well defined and searching set of tests. I like that you fly the same circuit as your previous tests as it gives a consistent baseline for all your antenna reviews. Well done sir. I am now a Patreon supporter, but don't order any test equipment based on what I can afford. Cheers.
I was just going to ask if it had enough flex to bend it 90 degrees and you answered before I had a chance to ask. You then put them on the same googles I have. Next you announce that you next test it with my favorite CP antenna(Lollipop 2). All is left is to use it with my favorite camera, the Predator Mini V3(I use a 2.1 lens on mine). You have really caught my interest with this one Bruce.
Bignose13 I noticed that it was ur built helical. Helical is still king for a clear image at long range. I use the Circular Wireless 7 turn helical. I’ve been out to 10km on 500mw.
Hi there thanks for yr videos I’ve been looking at yr vid on the fixer and helical and clover leaf again brilliant and yr vids have helped me a lot thank you
Great review, as always! If you do a group review try and include one of the mini patches from MenaceRC ... I use the Invader, which is small / cheap / light and works really well. I have it on a 45 deg angle adapter which points it straight forward from the goggles. It's slightly lower gain (6.5 dBi), but of course has a wider beam as a result. They also have 9.4 dBi one (the PicoPatch), which looks interesting.
Any chance of some reviews for longer range FPV systems? Figuring that something that lets the TBS guys do 10 or more kilometers, should have pretty perfect reception out to 1 kilometer.
@@avelkm- how does that affect reviewing hardware? Can still check signal quality in LOS flight, or he could get RunCamRon to fly from the far end of the runway while observing the signal from past the gokart track.
When looking for a penetration or LR antenna I usually look to see what the gain is and what the beam width is at -3db. Is there anything I should be looking for beyond that. is a 10dbi antenna with a 50 degree beam objectively better that one with a gain of 8 and a similar beam width? For example Maarten Baerts triple feed patch antenna (www.maartenbaert.be/quadcopters/antennas/triple-feed-patch-antenna/) is very similar to the menace rc pico (menacerc.co.uk/product/picopatch-antenna-5-8ghz-polarised-receiver-patch) in specification. Is it as simple as the smaller one is better in that case?
Good job the battery stayed on when you lost it then Bruce or you'd still be looking :) Have you tried the buzzers with a built-in battery, like the ViFly?
thank you Bruce, We are flying Diapole, Diapole is linear polarised and can the circular polarised be used with linear polarised? And do you suggest “Foxeer Echo 5.8GHz 8dBi circularly polarized FPV antenna ” for diapole on build?
it can, but you loose 3dB of gain and will have problem with multipathing (all linear polarised antennae would have this problem and both antennae should be circular polarised to avoid it)
+RCModelReviews that's great Bruce I can't wait iv been thinking about this and wanted to try and make one for flying my Fpv volantex at the flying field hopefully it will be good for About 300 yards lol :-)
GetFPV or ReadyMade way way way back wen 😂 might even have been stone blue airline's it was a long time ago... it's a real nice set up if you can keep your head still or mount it in a tripod.
Bruce, I've heard from reputable sources that using high gain antenas , whether 5.8 or 2.4 , can over work your Rx and you run a risk of burning out your Rx. Any comments on that?
Whoever told you that just doesn't understand RF at all. It is true if you have a poor frontend design of an RX it could become overloaded by the input signal, but that would not burnout the RX, it just wouldn't not work it's best.
Another great video Bruce. So glad you are still "at it". Cheers from the Great Northwest where it is winter and cold here....

Foxeer should have sent you two......then you could have opened the thing up to see whats inside.
Please excuse the impertinence, Bruce, but I couldn't help noticing/mentioning how steady your hands are in the close-ups. That's nice to see. :-)
Do you by any chance have a ImmersionRC patch to compare it to Bruce?
I am going to compare it soon. Should be an interesting test.

Mmmm that's like a fpv dream box. I love foxeer stuff.
Great review bruce i was thinkn of getting the echo. I have a lollipop 2 on my quad and I think its pretty good. Like to see the camera reviews soon.
kanenstuff Predator? It’s excellent, but I am biased , I am using them since release, never looked back at ccd.
Is it possible to do a history lesson on Mode-S, ADS-B, FLARM and whatnot? Through the progression and where we're going? TIA
Nice to see you using the old helical Bruce 👍
Bignose13 I noticed that it was ur built helical. Helical is still king for a clear image at long range. I use the Circular Wireless 7 turn helical. I’ve been out to 10km on 500mw.
Thanks Bruce for another informative review. Cheers :)
Nevermind the FPV...take us for a buzz in that CT4...... many memories there ....
What kind of antenna was on the transmitter?
Hi there thanks for yr videos I’ve been looking at yr vid on the fixer and helical and clover leaf again brilliant and yr vids have helped me a lot thank you
Bruce, how do you compare Foxeer's antenna to Tripple feed patch antenna? Thanks
Interesting how I only use 2 x dipoles on my goggles are they work excellent for fpv racing
Any night vision camera for rescue drones?

Isn't 6db twice the range?
I have the predator V3 on my AR wing and its my favorite cam so far!

Dragon Link?
Bruce cannot legally go beyond visual line of sight, so while he may choose to fly so, he wouldn't discuss it publicly.

What about triple feed patch? Have you tested those?
Very good Bruce... _and the Echo is red too. Likely very fast! :p_
Bruce when are you doing a vtx torture test...to see which vtx last longer before going bad. Maybe a 24hr -48hr vtx on competition.
I love the Foxeer Lollipop's :) Good range and they are really good indoors to :)
And they taste yummy.
great test, and explaining. Thank you.

Bruce,
Was that an unboxing?
Im having signal problems galore think i need a new video transmitter for my x220 wizard can you recommend one
brooke carrillo Mach 3 from race day quads
It looks like a retro CRT tube.. very nice.
RCModelreviews Bruce do you make your own helical or do you Bay them iv seen a few people making them and was going to give it a try lol
I am going to do a "build your own helical" video very shortly so stay tuned.
+RCModelReviews that's great Bruce I can't wait iv been thinking about this and wanted to try and make one for flying my Fpv volantex at the flying field hopefully it will be good for About 300 yards lol :-)
BTW, that new osmo pocket might be modded into a DIY sub-250g arducopter-based camera drone. 116g with the internal battery and housing intact.
That was my first thought when I saw it ;-)
good review as always, the echo looks so sexy
I still really enjoy my old 5.8ghz pepper box (LHCP) by iBcrazy / VAS.
Where tf did you get the lhcp pepper box?

That Chinese Ne Hi long grass is everywhere :-D
The drop test
echo("I will keep using my VAS 5.8Ghz 10dbi Crosshair antenna!");
the vas crosshair extreme is definetly a better attena correct?
Don’t bang it before you test it. Each bang could take a decibel off it.
I thought the rule was no pain no gain!
Tokoroa :)
Clearly you need a license and registration for that hill
Explain please
oshit i gotta get this
x-mas in summer… sounds so weird :-)
Can i have the bubble wrap for christmas? 😂
i swear by my ev800d antennae
I felt the patch on them sux, but the clover is tits!
Get a rapidfire and say goodbye to multipathing. 😘
The echo has better quality
Bruce ive loved you for years ,but please please just slow down with the talking, its getting hard to follow at times.
0.75x
He's running out of track so he has to increase output to fit it all in.
Then do 2 parts.
