You're welcome. I'm glad you found value in the video!
Awesome Info-Thank you!
You're welcome.
Thanks for these videos and good stuff. In the section where you are talking about a "can opener" versus a "stainless steel can opener"-- would it work if we used "stainless steel can opener" as our listing's main keyword since it still has less competition yet still adequate search volume for us to profit off a subcategory? Perhaps not in this case because "stainless steel can opener" is still quite competitive as you mentioned but in another situation where we could use a subcategory of a competitive main category to our advantage?
You're welcome! It's hard to say without knowing more details about your product and niche. In general, you want to always base your product research decision off of the shortest, broadest keyword phrase since that is what most people will use to search for the product.
Crescent love your videos, never miss a one. Quick question tho, I see you've switched from Jungle Scout to Amz Scout. Do you only use Amzscout now? do you find it superior?
Thank you kyblrd1! I appreciate your support and feedback! I haven't switched. I use both. Each has their own set of tools that I use to make product research faster and easier and I'm just sharing the other options that AMZScout has to offer.
@@CrescentKao ok thats good to know. Was wondering if it was worth getting both.
Just curious, what if "stainless steel can openers" gets a lot of searches and has fewer reviews than "can openers"? I have noticed often that if I slightly change the way I call an item, or add a detail, it suddenly goes from a 6 to a 7 (and better in terms of its data too). Does that mean that they are bad products still?
That's where you will get yourself into trouble. It will appear that the niche is far less competitive when it isn't because you've used a longer tail keyword phrase. The shorter broader keyword phrase is what most people will use to find that product so you will be in reality competing against all those listings, not the longer tail search results listings. This video goes over it in more detail:

I use Helium 10 to look at a product that might be seasonal or not. They have a graph version where you can filter it from 30 days ago to 1 year and from the "All time" . What if I see some spikes but the trend bar(black bar) is slowly increasing since the seller has started the product. Would that be considered a seasonal item?
You'd have to use your best judgement. I don't know what the product is. This video shows you examples of seasonal vs not: ua-cam.com/video/aniGaVLhnzM/v-deo.html
Hi, would you advise with Hiring someone for product research?
No. I never recommend outsourcing product research. First, there's no shortcut to success. Second, how do you know how well they did the product research or if they're just selling the same idea to 1000 people?
Hi Crescent. Thanks for another very informative and helpful video. As a newbie, in my research the majority of products I come across are too competitive according to the "7 of top 10 have less than 75 reviews" rule. I then try looking for more obscure products, which tend to have sales that are too low. If "can opener" is the correct search term we are to use for this niche, and this niche is super competitive, then why are we seeing so many new sellers (eight new sellers in 2018 in your video) coming into the niche? You stated that the reasons are either 1) sellers are offering a new electric can opener or 2) the niche is becoming more popular. For answer 1, I have 2 questions: A) Wouldn't the most basic keywords for this niche be "manual can opener" or "electric can opener", since although both products open cans, they are not particularly interchangeable depending the customers' needs, and I would think a customer knows which one they want before searching to buy. B) Electric can openers have been selling for a long time, so is it the new design/features that you are referring to? If so, then I'm assuming this refers to differentiation, which could allow entry into a very competitive niche such as this if the product is good enough and the seller has the budget until organic ranking starts. For 2), I'm not clear on your answer that the niche is becoming more popular. In my research, I look at a product with review numbers like this and immediately move on. I sometimes feel like there is some fundamental concept that I am not grasping. Could you explain your answer a bit more? Thanks!
Hello. I'm happy to hear that you find the content valuable. Product research isn't easy. if it was, everyone would be successful. I can't tell you specifically why there's a bunch of new sellers in any niche. People take action based on their own prerogatives, I have no control over that. Will they be successful? Maybe.. maybe not. All I know is what works for me. If its' too competitive, I personally would avoid that niche. Other may disagree but that's a risk they are willing to take, not me.
You need to use the most relevant keyword phrase. "Can opener" is the shortest and most relevant and you can verify this as it has the most search volume over manual or electric can opener. This video goes over it in detail: ua-cam.com/video/_aIu4LPNmrg/v-deo.html
Thanks, Crescent
What is time frame for 75 review? Monthly or yearly
There is no timeframe.
AMZScout approached me about offering affiliate links to viewers but so far i haven't found the sales figures very accurate for my product. How do your actual sales compare to the AMZScout estimates?
Darren Lynch just use Jungle Scout, it’s been around way longer with a solid team...
Hello Darren Lynch, how are you doing? I haven't found AMZScout or any other product research tool any more or less accurate. Using your own products is too small of a test sample in my opinion. So from my own research and checking with other sellers, you'll find that some tools will be more accurate in one niche whereas another tool is more accurate in another. All the tools have their own algorithms and are giving estimates and no one tool is more accurate across all the products on Amazon.
The idea isn't to necessarily get pinpoint accurate sales data. All the tools will give you the same consensus for sales velocity (daily and monthly) when analyzing the niche. What you're looking for is if the sales volume meets your target or not. All the tools will give you the same results even the numbers are off slightly from listing to listing within each niche.
@@FromQnz2KingAgreed - Jungle Scout is more accurate for me and I have been using the Pro extension for months with good results. Competitors like AMZScout are a good thing, they force JS to continue to improve.
@@CrescentKao Thank you for taking the time to reply Crescent. I agree that one product is a very very small sample size - however, it's the only 100% genuine data I have (other than products that I have been 999 tracking) so when I see an extension over 50% out I was keen to hear from yourself to see what your experience has been.
I completely agree that tools like this are just for providing a general consensus, maybe I'll give it another try tracking some other niches as some of the extra features you highlighted in the video could be extremely helpful.
What’s your current monthly revenue from FBA?
I grew it to 6 figures (annually) since I started Amazon 14 months ago.
Technically won’t every niche will become saturated since everyone is using similar tools to analyze products. Also you shouldn’t be using the most basic keyword for a product for example of you are selling an electric can opener vs a can opener. You should analyze electric can opener since that’s the subniche of can opener and your real target market.
Not all niches get saturated. Only the common ones when people use the same product research methods, filters and criteria. That's why it's important to think outside the box. I have several videos on this topic.
And no, you must always use the broadest and shortest keyword that describes the niche. This video goes over it specifically: ua-cam.com/video/_aIu4LPNmrg/v-deo.html&
Bro, why don’t you apply for a job with Jungle Scout. You already look like you work for them 😂
