EasyFur Rain Screen from Keene. Is this a Thermal Break?

- Rain screens bring many known advantages to the wall assembly. Drainage and ventilation come immediately to mind, but how about providing a thermal break? Rain screen products isolate the siding from the shear wall, providing an insulating airspace. That's a thermal break! Do it economically with the EasyFur product from Keene.
There is a furring strip called WaterairVent, it’s a unique composite furring strip that has channels built in which prevents trapped moisture from trapping behind the furring strip. The only thing I don’t like about easy fur is the price and I am concerned about them support the weight of a fiber cement board. Google WaterairVent and see what your think. I do believe it is also half the price of easy fur too.

Placed horizontally for vertical cladding, eliminating that added horizontal fir strip, typically needed for an air gap. Saving time and cost

Yes, Put it up with a hammer tacker.

The EasyFur®️ will compress when nailed. James Hardie®️ the largest producer of fiber cement siding does not recommend these mesh Rainscreen spacers because they compress and cause wavy siding. Plus they cause extreme blow out on the back of the Fiber cement siding when nailed.
Use Roll On Rainscreen or our FM3 Rainscreen furring instead.
