Switch 2 as a name feels a bad idea as the name being too similar hurt the Wii U, and the general public that aren’t into tech didn’t pick up on the fact its not an addition to the Wii but a full new console and then another similar situation, the amount of Grandparents etc. who bought 3DS games for their kids DS not understanding the difference was common, a full new name doesn’t have those issues. They added U to Wii and it caused confusion and was one of the reasons that console failed. They're not repeating that mistake again, just add a 2, the drama is unwarranted, Sony has been doing it for decades!
Tbh I may be old but I remember the gameboy color releasing; which I only briefly got to know the gameboy beforehand. Many people at the time (myself included as I was very young) thought the gameboy color was just the gameboy but with colour; however it was more than that. The console had a huge upgrade in nearly everything for the time. Pretty much has more power, removing the contrast option and had it just set at it's best; the console was slimmer so you can fit it in your pocket easier and the lock was removed for cool colours. Then the gameboy advanced came out and it was pretty much the same as the color, but on its side. Which the GBA SP tried to fix it. DS was new and 3ds was a DS with 3d. Same with the Wii and WiiU. What I'm saying is, Nintendo has done this on the portable side for years. They aren't really that great with showing us the consoles are different and early on, yes their logos and designs stood out more but around the 3DS era they lost the flair. So a Switch 2 isn't really that surprising or new to them. Ofc it's not out yet but Nintendo hasn't really added a 2 at the end so it's new to them. I'm more concerned about how they're handling their pricing and subscription method. $60 for a game even decades later is more concerning than a "Switch 2" name.
4:00 They haven't and they won't. I don't know why some people think that and even before we even knew about the Switch 2 existing they've been saying the same BS about them """losing their flair""" when if anything, they lost a LOT of flair during the Wii U era with not only having hardware that was horribly thought out with its gimmicks, but also most of its first party games being some of the weakest that a Nintendo console has ever seen, and if anything the Switch era has proven countless times that more than ever, Nintendo still carries that flair with them, they can still be hugely creative and still make some of the best games imaginable for most of us to really lose our minds and be so hyped about especially on a piece of hardware that's genuinely game changing like the Switch is and should still stick with the hybrid concept going forward. Things are only getting even better from here and they're not gonna go away anytime soon.
This might be the only time they run with it. Switch has been out almost 8 years so imagine how long Switch 2 will be around.. they’ll run the rest of the decade with the Switch name until their next new console.
If fans are upset about the name, I can't imagine that it's anything less than "my favorite team". Part of Sony's success is because with the exception of the Pocket Station, they have been nothing but Playstation, which achieved cult status through recognition. If I were to ask Mr. and Mrs. Public who know nothing about videogames, they'll know what XBOX is, but not necessarily the second part of the name. They won't always known the current Nintendo console, because it often changes the name entirely by each generation, and they don't care about keeping up with the industry. But they WILL know Playstation, and they WILL have an easier time knowing what one is current by the number. Not original? Sure, but it doesn't matter, it's RECOGNIZABLE. If Nintendo wants to build upon the success of the Switch legacy, they should name it Switch 2 and nothing else. Not Switch U, not Switch W, not Switch On/Off, not Switch Cute Anime Character Bobblehead Swordsman X-Omega Ultra. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Disclaimer, I couldn't care less, just watch for entertainment.
I'm sure Nintendo would prefer to give it a fun name and us big Nintendo fans would also like it, but they are a company and they need to make money at the end of the day. They have made it so simple to understand that even the dumbest person can instantly know what this is. That's good because if it is successful, we get better games and more of them. It's a trade off and one I'm happy to make.
My personal problem is with the logo, rather then the name. I would have like to see at least a slightly different color or a combination of colors. Hopefully when the real trailer is reveal the opening has the joycons pushing together instead of sliding together.
Switch 2 is a no brainer name. Why wouldnt they do it? Its worked out super well for sony to do numerical iterations. All they have to do in the reveal trialer is show young adults playing this thing at home and on the go, show some new game teases from first party and some big 3rd party titles. Show the switch 2 logo at the end and boom, you know exactly what it is.
I think keeping it familiar for the coming generation is a smart, well-calculated decision. I feel like Nintendo is starting to realize that throwing too many design gimmick curveballs at the public isn't pushing progress forward fast enough for the consoles to remain relevant. With a platform like Nintendo Switch, it now has years behind it which will help develop the platform going forward. A better, more powerful version is very much a welcome change of pace coming from Nintendo. I could see them sticking with the Nintendo Switch platform even after this upcoming generation.
1st party needs to be there at launch. Despite the new console receiving 3rd party games, you have to give consumers a reason to buy your console specifically. If they already have a PC or a PS5 or a more powerful handheld then there's no incentive to buy a new console from Nintendo, just to play a 3rd party game that they could have just bought for hardware they already own.
If they call it Super Switch, people will assume it’s just another revision with a bigger screen - not a next gen system It can’t be called anything but Switch 2, sorry that’s boring, but Nintendo can/has innovate in other ways

If third party devs having trouble optimizing their unreal 5 games with lumens and other power hungry BS when it's struggling even on 4090, I really doubt we'll see that many of them running competently on Switch 2. Nintendo's proprietary engines however is a whole different thing. That next gen I'm excited about
I don't care about third party support at all, I have a PC if I want to play those games. The only reason I get Nintendo consoles is for Nintendo games. But Xbox is definitely giving up on consoles, they won't quit but it's not a priority. That only leaves Sony who overprices their junk with no games. Nintendo has a real chance to claim the market.
Nintendo see the writing on the wall ,theres no more hardware gimmiks , and now they are trying to lock people in with their hard ware monopoly, they know all they have left if there software , and the geniuses that made the good games are old now, and we get games like totk...nintendo is dead all games that are on switch are on steam except nintendo games...
Switch 2 seems fine to me. I actually prefer it over any wacky name Nintendo usually puts. It's straight to the point, being a Switch, but just better. Switch 2. Sony has been doing this for decades and they've been successful. Nintendo copying that trend is new but sometimes a branding needs to be simple once in a while.
I'm hoping that the backwards compatibility of the new console will address some of the issues that its predecessor have. Mainly things like frame dips and load speeds.
Seriously! WHO CARES!!!!! Let's do the easy thing, and just wait until it comes out. I don't know why all these people wanna make videos off "Here Say"
Personally, I don't really care what the thing is called. As long as it can still play Zelda and Metroid, is backwards compatible, and is reasonably capable, I'll be happy with it. The only thing that might make me mad is if it's prohibitively expensive. Also, that character at 2:26 is Darkwing Duck, my dude!
If you've a better name than 2 then, go for it. I'll listen and if you've better idea than the Switch concept. I'll listen. But I'm be honest, I've no other idea than putting a 2 to the logo with better hardware and software.
I think people will be pleasantly surprised. Nintendo will cater to those who simply want a better version of the Switch and to those who want a new gimmick or new way to play.
Naming it Switch 2 is not very Nintendo, but they are making the 2 relevant with 2-screen functionality by casting a 2nd unique display to any other Switch or the new dock. And the new dock will do all the upscaling from 1080 up to 4K.
wii kept the wii branding woth wii-u, DS retained DS branding with 3DS, not to mention the NES and whole Gameboy line, it is obvious Nintendo will keep switch branding and calling it Switch 2 makes the most sense, about the logo i think nintendo will reveal a more creative one, that 2 font doesnt seem to fit much
My main concern is, if it's better than the steam deck. I've been onboard with Nintendo since the 64. I've been seeing a disconnect with their games from their style and more towards just being another company. The branding doesn't matter at all to me. We've never gotten any themes or folders for the switch. Yes I know there's the almost folders but you can't use them on the main screen. If their software and UI remains the same I'll have no reason to get the new switch. I don't even want anything wacky, I just want it to be Nintendo. Not just another bland company that continues to do what everyone else is doing but slightly better. Bring back themes, menu music, eShop music, quirky little noises all over the place. I want the system to feel alive, not just staring at a bland screen. Honestly I just miss iwata, he was a creative at heart and it bled through everything he was involved with.
It’s too early for us to call ‘no innovation’ ‘til we see this thing, I think! For all we know, the new ‘C’ button does something wild, the dock with its supposed screen protrusion may introduce new concepts, the upper USB-C may involve attachable peripherals we haven’t seen yet while keeping the core Switch concept untouched- very optimistic about what could happen, crossing my fingers for an early January reveal!
Forced gimmicks have ruined multiple generations of Nintendo hardware for me - that being said, I'm almost certain that the second USB-C port in the Switch 2 is going to be for plugin peripherals that will give gimmick lovers some of what they want. And that is Nintendo's OG tradition before the mid-2000s when they started forcing gimmicks. Rob the Robot wasn't built into NES, and the Super Scope wasn't built into the SNES. Not everyone wants to be funneled into having to use gimmicks in games where they have no business in being in the first place.
There’s no need to get upset, as those once revolutionary features, like touch screen and motion controls are still not depleted of exciting game play ideas, and Switch got them all! And there could very well be a surprise or two still waiting to be unveiled. I’m still hoping for Wii U like dual screen feature, and then there are rumors about adding haptics to the analog stick. Most of all I hope they are improving the motion controls in order to making Switch 2 VR Ready, an add on or separate device introduced later.
Would have been fun, but still simple, if they were to call it the Super Nintendo Switch as a callback to the NES/SNES and Famicom/Super Famicom naming convention.
I hope they will upgrade a lot of switch 1 titles to look better and play better on the switch 2 mostly and not sell them all as remasters, but maybe a free or max 5$ upgrade to switch 2
Luckily that the NSO will be in the next console too but I hope that the actual Switch can release all important games of the 5 Nintendo Consoles (there's missing some games in the GB/GBC, N64, GBA)
I'd rather see Nintendo focus on making Hardware and Software that improves upon their previous line up and then later down the road make something innovative like Labo or Labo VR or heck even that Mario Kart game with the physical RC Mario Kart.
I’m guessing it’s around the power of a ps4. I think if it has more and faster v-ram it should help a lot. I just want games to run 60fps at 1080p docked, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Maybe first party games, but it’s a toss-up for third party.
You just proven my point Andres. The switch 2 will be as powerful as a standard ps4 console or a ps4 pro console. I remember hearing this from UA-cam from Samus Hunter. Samus Hunter said the switch 2 retail stores price will be between $399.00 - $450.00 dollars 💸 . Thank you Andres. Have a merry Christmas 🎅 🎄.
Why , that's so stupid , this is the perfect name for the console and will be so easy for people to understand this is a new console similar to switch , but it's the next thing , don't want to call it switch attach connect
I think the Nintendo switch is the perfect console aside from the graphics. I usually prefer to play in handheld so I can play it a few minutes at a time then put the game in sleep. Sometimes I'm too lazy to fire up my PlayStation 5 even though it's incredibly fast. Now a Nintendo switch that I can play modern third party games on would be amazing
I think the Switch branding is something that will become synonymous with Nintendo consoles in the future similar to PlayStation and Xbox. There will always be room for gimmicks and wacky new peripherals. (Alarmo, Labo, Amiibo etc.) But it was inevitable that Nintendo would find a permanent name that represents their vision as a company. They couldn’t do that with Super Nintendo obviously. Where do you go from N64? They’re not going to release a cube shaped console every generation. Wii was a fun name while it lasted but it ran its course. The Switch is the only name that makes sense. It is a professional sounding name that illustrates Nintendo’s vision going forward.
It’s sad but people that think like this are unknowingly holding Nintendo back. This is what Nintendo needs. A powerful console that third parties developers are excited about from a technical aspect while upgrading the OS and user features. Nothing major that hinders tech and power. ✌🏾
Sources? Switch 2 does not have the memory bandwidth to make that possible. At best we get 120gbs of bandwidth while docked and 88gbs while portable. PS4 Pro 218gbs.
Nintendo can go wacky still, they just had to NOT fail the marketing like with Wii U lol. Don't rely on word of mouth like they did with the Wii. But go wacky and ADVERTISE like they did with every other console outside the Wii U.
If games were truly the most important factor, then the Wii U wouldn’t have failed because the system had very good games. The Switch 2 could fail even if it has good games because the system itself also needs to be appealing. Many people own a Switch but only have two or three games, and those people make up a significant percentage of buyers. So, if the new system is too similar to the previous one, it loses its appeal.

@@TheAlex3712 Because Nintendo's oldest fans like Nintendo for their uniqueness. Not them copying PS. I'd even take the Nintendo pink fluffy bunny as the system name over Switch 2. Cause Switch 2 sounds like they put no thought into it. It's just like a PC gamer, here' the same thing but stronger. I'm for innovation in hardware, NOT in software.
Its not anything as bad as a spit in the face to the fans, I just think its a bad business move.
I think they will continue to call it part of the "Switch family of systems" even though it is a new gen
Go to 04:16 if you wish to skip to the main topic.

I'd be fine with calling it Switch 2 and having that bland logo... if the brand color were spice orange instead of red 🧡
If they call it Super Switch, people will assume it’s just another revision with a bigger screen - not a next gen system
It can’t be called anything but Switch 2, sorry that’s boring, but Nintendo can/has innovate in other ways
I’m angry! Switch 2 isn’t out yet.
That is all.
The logo concerns me. People will see it as "2 Nintendo Switch" 😂
2 Switch or not 2 Switch that is the eternal question.😆

If third party devs having trouble optimizing their unreal 5 games with lumens and other power hungry BS when it's struggling even on 4090, I really doubt we'll see that many of them running competently on Switch 2. Nintendo's proprietary engines however is a whole different thing. That next gen I'm excited about
Imagine the look of the next 3D Mario, or a few years in, the next big Zelda! I’m honestly excited to see even just the art styles.
Name it switch2 or Nintendo super switch 👌. Really will hype once the reveal trailer arrives in January. Many leaks are true 😮😮! Its tempting news!
The duck character is Darkwing Duck from an old Disney cartoon from the early 90's.

Wii U was supposed to be a continuation of the Wii...I understood the concept, when I saw the E3, just that why the name>> Wii with U
Whoever is angry needs to touch grass and chill.
The biggest question is what is going to be the biggest weakness of this console that will impede 3rd party support?
Hey! Listen!
Totally agree. Innovation isn't always necessary. Improvement is good too and it's the right move for Nintendo right now.
And why do people not like this?
I love handhelds, but I hate 30fps. 45fps is a good middle ground to me. I hope they can target that.
We need more A titles and AAA titles. Less AAA titles more A titles.
What’s the game you’re playing in the beginning? Looks cool
Super Mario Odyssey?
I'm not gonna buy inferior third party ports on NS2, although I understand someone doing so if NS2 is his or her only system.
You won’t be able to play them portably though unless you have another portable console
I'm honestly tired of hearing these leaks. Every time I search Nintendo, it's the same Schtick, leaks up the ass and finally the channel.
Seems like a major missed opportunity to call it Super Switch and generate some major nostalgia sales.
I would've thought the logo would have "Nintendo Switch" at the top and the Joycons and 2 on the bottom.
So people are angry and want the wii u fail to happen again?
i think this direction for nintendo is the best one, i want them to compete more and not rely so much on gimmicks and "wackiness"
Switch is now their console/handheld 'hybrid' brand. Switch 1,2, 2OLED, 2Pro, 3, 3VR etc etc
Oh please ! ... When aren't Nintendo ''fans'' angry about something ???
Great video Andres and I completely agree with you!
We need trophy support, call it a power up ⭐️ 🍄.
Thats why peeps get always interested in playing games, so it goes to show that its not gimmicky after all.....
I'd rather see Nintendo focus on making Hardware and Software that improves upon their previous line up and then later down the road make something innovative like Labo or Labo VR or heck even that Mario Kart game with the physical RC Mario Kart.
No one is mad, stop assuming out of thin air. The only thing annoying is you youtubers calming switch 2 leaks day after day.
My prediction is that the Nintendo switch 2 is as powerful as the ps4 pro
I’m guessing it’s around the power of a ps4. I think if it has more and faster v-ram it should help a lot. I just want games to run 60fps at 1080p docked, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Maybe first party games, but it’s a toss-up for third party.
The duck character is Darkwing Duck from the recent DuckTales reboot. Definitely worth a watch, highly recommend.
What Mario game is in the beginning?
This is good news so far. We dont need the old formula.
Why , that's so stupid , this is the perfect name for the console and will be so easy for people to understand this is a new console similar to switch , but it's the next thing , don't want to call it switch attach connect
Pyoro needs to put a sock in it, bad bird.
Bro's never watched Darkwing Duck?
Yes, but who is Matt?
If switch 2 can handle PS4 games that can look great & run great it’s a system I’ll buy.
as long as i can get picross 12 in 4k, im happy
Some people get wound up by some weird stuff
It’s sad but people that think like this are unknowingly holding Nintendo back. This is what Nintendo needs. A powerful console that third parties developers are excited about from a technical aspect while upgrading the OS and user features. Nothing major that hinders tech and power. ✌🏾
Switch 2 will be like a portable PS4 Pro in terms of graphical performance
Sources? Switch 2 does not have the memory bandwidth to make that possible. At best we get 120gbs of bandwidth while docked and 88gbs while portable. PS4 Pro 218gbs.
Nintendo: "everyone keept saying switch 2 so we thought it's popular and used it 😂 problem?"
you can be mad all you want, no one cares
Nintendo can go wacky still, they just had to NOT fail the marketing like with Wii U lol. Don't rely on word of mouth like they did with the Wii. But go wacky and ADVERTISE like they did with every other console outside the Wii U.
Did the playstation fail, cause they called it playstation 2?
As long as the games i like and wanted are on the switch 2 I'm happy
If games were truly the most important factor, then the Wii U wouldn’t have failed because the system had very good games. The Switch 2 could fail even if it has good games because the system itself also needs to be appealing. Many people own a Switch but only have two or three games, and those people make up a significant percentage of buyers. So, if the new system is too similar to the previous one, it loses its appeal.
