I've been playing for 40 years, and I'll tell you, the mid and upper-level Squiers have been some of the BEST instruments I've ever owned, all the way around. Definitely on par with MIM and even MIJ Fenders, IMHO. They are an OUTSTANDING value for the money, you can't go wrong.
Squier has definitely been on fire lately! It's so exciting that these affordable instruments are so accessible and, most importantly, durable/worthwhile for players.
Great review it sounds really good I've been waiting for this bass to come out and can't wait to get one I love Squier basses and have wanted an active Jazz for years
I've seen this bass online before it was released I was waiting for someone to give it a review I only seen one in person at GC it was a black 5 string I don't particularly like 5 strings I find them uncomfortable so I didn't bother playing it so thank you for a quick run through
As the value of my vintage basses continue to rise I keep looking for a more affordable alternative. I have looked a little at the fender player series and other MIM basses but something about this one, not sure if it's just the color or that it's active but this particular model has really piqued my interest, great review and I love that you put it in a band setting as well. 🙂
Yes! Most certainly. Sturdy build, just got to care for it as you would maintain any bass. And of course, don't forget to keep the batteries in good shape for the active electronics. 😄
Saw another review of this same exact model that was really heavy so don’t let the light weight of hers influence your purchase. Unless you’re trying it out in person of course.
Ah yes. I was very pleased with how light my review subject was, but of course, as with any batch of instruments, weights can vary! I encourage anyone who is looking for a new bass to try to play it first or contact the shop to ask about the individual weights of their stock, if possible.
Thank you so much! Yes-- that's the fun part. This bass is accessibly priced. Would be a fantastic Jazz to have on hand without committing to a super expensive model.
The Squier Affinity Jazz Bass has been around for awhile. You might wanna make the distinction in the video title that it's the active one. She said it in the intro.

Thank you! Yes-- this release is perfect timing from Fender. Stoked that players now have this option.

Happy this was helpful! Hope you can find a 4 string model out in the wild soon.

Thank you! Awesome-- yes, I agree that this one totally holds its own when compared side-by-side with pricier models.
Would this one be good if I buy it to use as a bass for a long time? Since it might be my first bass, I want to know if it’s worth it
While affordable, Squier basses should last you a fairly long time, with good care and maintenance.

I have to ask, have you had a look at the new Squire VI bass and do you think you'll ever take one out for a spin? I'd love a review!
Thanks.
Duly noted!

Nice job Lily! I'm not a Jazz bass guy but it would be nice to have a bass like this around.
