Well, not many people know this, but the original script and ending and ending for Disney's version was gonna much darker and far more loyal to Rudyard Kipling's masterpiece. For example, it would include characters like Tabaqui, Messua (Mowgli's mother), Buldeo, Jacala and Grey Brother. And there were songs such as "Brothers All", "Song of the Seeonee", and "The Mighty Hunters".
And speaking of the original ending, it was gonna feature Mowgli being followed and forced by Buldeo the hunter to lead him to the treasure chamber under monkey city, but Mowgli would distract Buldeo and Shere Khan attacked, killing the hunter. Mowgli would then use the hunter's rifle to shoot the tiger in the face, killing him instantly.

@@Hewylewis I disagree with Khan, first I can buy that the jungle is completely harmless if Khan is the soul reason Mowgli is going to the man village, but the fact that he doesn't even show up until the last third is not only lazy but eliminate any sense of dread, we never see physical demonstration of why he's so dangerous instead he acts like he owns the place wich rings hollow, and he just weakly bitch-slaps everyone and then runs away like a Pussy! Aside from the songs the original jungle book aged like milk, wich is why both the direct to DVD sequel and the live action remakes don't Khan better because they not only made them constantly active hunters always on the tail of their pray but actually show why the hero needs to get away from them!

This is the movie where my phobia of snakes originated. Funny enough, this movie made me afraid to look my grandma in the eye...for a time at least. Why, do you ask? Well, her voice sounded eerily a lot like Kaa, who was voiced by Sterling Holloway. In my 4-year-old mind, I thought Kaa disguised himself as my grandma--think Red Riding Hood, but with a snake instead--and I was afraid that if I looked her in the eye I would be hypnotized and eaten alive. Years later I found that not only did she sound like Sterling Holloway, she even looked like him when he was in his old age. What do you make of that?

Fox Kids also had a live-action version of The Jungle Book set in modern day (if memory serves, Mowgli made friends with American kids who just arrived in the jungle and together they stop both human and animal baddies, but it's been a long time since I've seen it). And the Disney version spun off into Tailspin and Jungle Cubs.
I always wondered why Jones's version was so different from Disney'. Now I know. Great review!

The remake definitely improves on Mowgli's character. First, he is shown to be capable of making and using tools to get by in the jungle, which serves him in the climax. Second, his refusal to go to the man village is more understandable, as he's leaving the only family he's ever known. It works, because we've gotten to see how much he loves them and they love him back, making the decision to have to leave, due to Shere Khan, more heartbreaking than it was in the original film. Finally, though he still has the temper and bratty attitude he had in the original animated film, the movie gives him more chances to show his positive qualities, like his loyalty and bravery.

I greatly enjoyed his arguments and summary between book vs movie but he left out a small but important piece of Mowgli's story where he meets and marries the daughter of someone, I forgot who the father is, and Mowgli returns to the jungle with his bride and the scene ends with a group of hunters discovering her with the pack of wolves and a naked baby boy.

3:08 The moment Disney adapts just about any story they get their hands on despite being rarely close the sources, the story would become “intrinsically connected” to Disney.
I don’t think there’s a single non-Disney version of a story which Disney adapts that people would be familiar with. If you ask people about like for example Snow White, Pinocchio, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty, The Princess and the Frog, etc, MOST not all will say it’s a “Disney film”.
Disney Like has the most overhype of any company of all time.
For generations peoples lives and childhoods would have Disney as part those.
Why would anyone even ask “Disneyfied or Disneytried”(not to mention those reviewers are huge Disney fans) when they’ll still find the story “intrinsically connected” to Disney. This company is rather overhyped, not that it’s necessarily bad, but it has so much popularity just like that.

A few corrections. The Letting in of the Jungle is not the conclusion, hell you missed one amazing story in which MOwgli goes to war with the wolves, who redeem themselves by driving off the invading Red Dog, with the strategic counsel of Kaa. Mowgli returns to his human mother afterwords and becomes a civilized man. Also, the Letting in of the Jungle itself is a long process, taking months to accomplish. The herbivores slowly destroy the fields, and the predators force them ever onward. The elephants destroy the grain stores, and in the end, the humans are forced to flee ,after consulting a wise man of the jungle.
Oh and check out the Russian version, its almost completely accurate to the two stories.

So why is so importent to more lore accurate

    • @ToroDelSushi
      @ToroDelSushi 6 місяців тому

@Dcuniverse60 I never said it was important. However personally since I don't like reading books, I'd like to have some media I consume be as close to the source material as possible so I don't feel like I'm missing out. Which is why I watched this video of the book and movie being compared so I know what was left out or altered. It's also fun to see the creativity of different authors and seeing the original vision put on screen, and you can't do that if the story is changed too much.

Personally, Mowgli’s attitude doesn’t bother me personally and I can understand why he would react that way.
If you suddenly got tall, do you have to leave the only home you’ve ever known because of some random tiger you’d probably react that way as well, or at least I would, especially as Bagheera waited till they were away from the wolves before telling him!🤦‍♂️

Sorry Hewey, but tigers are stronger and they have sharp claws. I bet Shere Khan will tear up Kaa's hide in mere seconds. Plus, Shere Khan can't be hypnotized. So Kaa won't stand a chance. But a Anaconda might.

We're talking about a novel, it's fiction not real life. And yes, in the book Kaa is feared by every animal including Bagheera and Shere Khan.

Knowing George R.R. Martin I'm guessing Robb Stark's direwolf Grey Wind is a nod to Grey Brother, especially since Robb, like all the Stark children including Jon Snow, shares a special bond with his direwolf, but I could be wrong.

This was something I was waiting for someone to do on UA-cam, Sure I've read it once, but I wish we were taught that book at school. I did thought it was nice, especially when you got to the plot elements and explained the lessons/morals in the story. I tried looking up that online, I did found a few but trying and to read it didn't seem to clear to me. Though there were some things I liked to address, though mostly nitpicks. The part of feeling annoyed with Mowgli, I can understand your reasons and this guy's reason's kinghuffy2.deviantart.com/jour… (A person I follow and is making his personal adaptation) but then again it may be a bit logical because like when we move to a new home, and we wouldn't want t move because that was the home we grown up with. Also, Mowgli did act like that in the beginning of Kaa's Hunting. Also there were some potential for some jokes ad things that were left out, but you don't need to have them. But these were some idea but the panther as a pet joke, I would've had the "Financial panther" joke from The Simpsons. Or the famous wedgie scene, I could've pointed out by saying "Here's the scene that inspired many meme pictures on Deviantart, making it like Kaa's coils unintentional pornography." The thing's ou missed was even though the vultures were made for the film they were inspired by Chil the Kite. Mostly because they are both predatory birds that are good friends. And technically Gray Brother does make a brief appearance in one of my favorite moments in the film, the doggy kiss scene. Also, the Vultures do have names you know, Buzzy(bald 0ne), Ziggy(brown feathers wig), Flaps(blonde or yellow feathers wig) and Dizzy(the one you called Ringo). Lastly I thought Shere Khan's real name Lungri was pronounced "lung-gree", like "hungry". Though how I put it makes sense since this tiger us hungry for vengeance. That's what I have to say, other than thatit was still a good review.
