  • Simple voltage controller DIY, make adjustable voltage regulator using MOSFET. ( how to make adjustable voltage regulator using MOSFET )
    This circuit can provide 100V, and 50A DC as maximum INPUT. It is adjustable from 0V to 100V DC. This is a very good Circuit and you can apply a solar charge controller. But use a large heat sink. good luck to you.
    Components used in this project:-
    1. Irfz44 mosfet x4
    2. 47K potentiometer
    3. 10A diode
    4. 470-ohm Resistor

      And to mention I have built something similar a voltage regulator using an LM317T instead of the 4 pieces that you use. And it worked only 1 lm317t

    Congratulations - by mounting your MOSFETs on top of the ring mounts, and not using any heatsink compound, you've reduced the power-handling abilities of the MOSFETs by about 60 to 70%. And if you use a power supply of more than about 20 volts, it will be possible to destroy the MOSFETs if you turn the pot all the way up. If you attempt to use this setup for higher currents, you will probably overheat the transistors if you try to put out high currents at low voltages with a high input voltage. Your heatsink is entirely inadequate for the voltages and currents which you claim will work.

      Are those eye ring terms for external positive battery inputs??? Seems very likely & reasonably sound schematic, 'cept the over heating / not adequate for high current issues??? Can you elaborate on a high current build for say 12v-24vdc input TO 48v-120vdc high current 50a output

      @@readytorvdude1224 You cannot possibly get more voltage out than you put in. And if you somehow have 24 Vdc in and 120Vdc/50 A out, you'll need 250 amps in.
      I cannot "elaborate" on a fantasy. Even something like 24 volts in/12 volts out @50 amps cannot work with those puny wires.

      I'm trying to harness the alternator B+ amperage out (2ga awg) into DC/DC boost converters; (12v/150A output thru the boost modules (2 in parallel) to convert into 24v or 36v(30A 1500W max) outputs into a MPPT solar charge controller at PV INPUT. Is this practical??? Wouldn't the lower voltage at PV INPUT ALLOW FOR HIGHER AMP INPUT THERE?

      No. Not only no, but Hell no. The wiring shown is completely inadequate to handle the currents you are trying for.
      But hey, don't listen to some stranger on the internet who hasn't made a video. The parts are cheap. Build one channel and give it a try. Watch it burn up with your own eyes.
      Did you know that transistors actually run on magic? It's a trade secret that at the center of each package is a pocket of Magic Smoke, which actually makes the transistor work. The proof of this is the fact that if you let the Magic Smoke out, the part will stop working. Build your own copy of this circuit and prove it for yourself.

    This is NOT a voltage REGULATOR but just a variable resistor devider. On top of that IRF44 is a SWITCHING transistor NOT really Suited for analog applications.

    Doesn’t the diode prevent the Rgs pull-down resistor from functioning?
    The Rgs resistor is meant to connect Gate to Ground, but in this case the diode is blocking the ‘gate capacitor’ drain.
    Theoretically, the potentiometer is acting as Rgs anyway (depending on its position) but it’s not a reliable pull-down resistor due to its variable nature. I assume that’s why the other resistor was added, however the diode appears to make it redundant?

    I've already tried this using even more bigger heatsink but it get damn hot when testing a Car Headlamp. But for 775 DC motor, it's ok. So, it's not 50amps.

      could it be the motor turning off on with the commutaion which means the mosfets gates are getting turned off and on fast thus will be cooler. While the straight out resistance load of the bulbs will mean the mos gates are on boarder line off / on which is what generates the heat. Good if you can introduce a pulsed circuit with input caps to store the incoming power when pulsing mosfet is off {to use that solar power moment the mosfet is switched on} and have that above circuit using only one mosfet to control gate threshold trigger voltage of pulsed mosfet. But what do I know, Im here because I blow mosfets and need a decent regulator. Like the joker says "If you want anything done properly - youve got to do it yourself"

      Mosfets get hot really fast if gate not on properly - so much so - im surprised some {V8 type lawn mower yank hasnt put a heap of mosfets together to make a smart ass hot plate for cooking eggs - i wonder if its more efficient then an element}

      @@wunderbar-q6y No idea what he did but cutting a length of wire, removing insulation from the end and making subsequent cuts in the insulation (not the wire itself) and separating by hand to fit what you need is the easiest way.

    If I did this, then between the potentiometer and the gates of the transistors I would put a TL431. The output voltage in this case would be ideally stabilized.

      I made it.
      It works but there is a issue.
      show wrong voltage . voltmeter show 4 volt but when we connect 4 volt led then it will no works.but if I give 6+ voltage then it will works . so is is impossible to get accurate measurement .

    Me gustaría que estas pruebas las hicieran con una carga real, como el motor de ventilación de una calefacción de coche, o una serie de lámparas de incandescencia de coche, y con el correspondiente voltímetro y amperímetro a la entrada de alimentación y a la salida del regulador de potencia . También pienso que para esa potencia el disipador es claramente insuficiente para una intensidad tan importante.

    What is the point of the insulating washers of the bottom of each semiconductor is connected through the heat sink AND the ring terminals? Why not just use a regular screw and save the insulators for a project where they are needed?

    Can the Ni-CD 3 6V 60mAh battery be charged with a 15V AC buzzer transformer?

    los irfz44 aguantan como maximo 55v, el circuito no sirve para mas de 55 voltios

    Hi bro, this is probable one of the cleanest projects around, good job! May i know what is the max current on input? I am looking for something to use with an old server psu @12v 2500w approx 200amps. your suggestion would greatly be appreciated.

    درود .چرا المنت مثلا در حد ۱۰۰۰ وات یک دیمر ویا مدار شما نمیتواند مورد استفاده قرار گیرد و در مدت خیلی کوتاه دیمر و چنین مداری میسوزد حتی اگر ۲۰۰۰ وات باشد والمنت ۱۰۰۰ وات ؟؟؟؟؟
