How to Fix a Tractor Water Temperature Gauge: Massey Ferguson 35

- If your coolant temperature gauge isn't working, this video shows how to repair it. This was performed on a MF-35, but it's the same for almost any old tractor and even many newer models including Ford, John Deere, New Holland, Case, International, Farmall, Oliver, etc.

Good old mechanical gauges. So great to hear your kids having fun in the background ! Great days to you and your crew !
Thanks Bubba. Those kiddos are living the life.
That was a helpful video. I have a MF 240S and the temp gauge was going crazy the other day.
Always good to see all clocks working.
Agreed 😁
I need to do this!! Inherited my TO35 and can't remember if temp gauge ever worked. Not rocket science and definitely do-able after watching this! Just gotta get one ordered! Thanks, for video!!!
Welcome! Great tractor you got.
The sound of the kids in the background totally makes my day.
Thank you! Your comment has made mine.
I installed one on my tractor, it works for a while, but later I saw that the stalk no longer moved, why?
Great video and thank you. Any further tips on dealing with the bracket that hold the gauge in place. My oil gauge has gone and I am struggling with the bracket.
It's been awhile and I can't really remember anything to add now. Hope you get it all figured out though.
I had to go get set of offset metric wrenches to remove mine. Probably original gauge and years of rust and buildup in threads. Took forever!!! Used 8mm which was same on new one!
Thanks, I'm going to repair mine also!
Nice!
Hi, have you any video showing how to change thermostat on MF35 please? Do you have to remove fuel tank & radiator? Thanks
Cool video man
Before you buy a new gauge, unscrew the old one from the water jacket (get someone to hold a finger over the hole to stop the water coming out) and put the end in your cup of coffee. If it’s like mine, it’ll work fine! I’ve obvs got some other issue.
That sounds like a neat trick.
What if it's like mine and won't unscrew cause it's old and stripped off
@@rogue_silverado9133 Then you just enjoy your cup of coffee.
@@rogue_silverado9133 Use vise grips to get it out.
@@paulhunter6226 Coffee First! I like the way you think!
What size wrench did you use to remove the end that goes into the engine block?
Afraid I wouldn't remember now. Sorry!
Well done.
Works the same on a Massey Ferguson 30 ?
Yes, works the same on a TO-30. There's a slight chance you may find that the replacement temp sensing rod is too long for the port. If you run into that problem, you'll also need a spacer/extension fitting. You probably won't run into that, but thought I'd mention it just in case as I have seen it a couple times.
Okay thank jou for the tip
Just did that on my MF 231, actually I changed all gauges, none worked. Complete dashboard overhaul.
Nice!
