6:32 What you experienced is literal quantum entanglement. I forget which maker discovered it but for unknown reasons all winged invisible blocks on screen get their hitbox rechecked when you hit a coin block. You can set up winged hidden blocks to be activated when they partially overlap an enemy, getting them stuck in the block but not killing them. Hitting ANY coin block makes the recheck happen and kills the enemy. Its one of the coolest discoveries in the game imo.
18:00 It actually makes perfect sense, when you are standing and hit a powerup you grow downwards into the lava and die, if you are ducking you don't and hit the axe before you hit the lava.
That makes sense, in the game memory, grow when eat a powerup makes you grow downwards, at the moment you touch the power up the "small" sprite is on the ground and when the "big" sprite appears the game actually make you grow downwars so when the animation finishes, colision is re updated and you are on ground, if you duck you still are 1 block tall and your hitbox lowers itself.
The joy DGR felt when he found an Uno Mas level with an automatic Boom Boom grinder was primordial. I think he may have finally found his level creation inspiration.
The dummy thicc level with the mega shroom works like this... When youre small you hit the mega shroom higher. You clip into the top block before coming through the top. Second time through you have big shroom so you are taller. When you hit the megashroom you clip into the 2 blocks under the shroom and hit the flagpole.
@@robibobi212 i was more joking about Dave himself, as he got himself stuck a lot on dumb parts, even if it was NOT the intention of the creator(s) XD that's what i based my comment on, basically EDIT: want Dave to softlock himself? make a level without softlocks, and he'll do it, somehow EDIT 2: also, i just got a notification on a reply..... youtube sucks at giving those
16:40 I think that it's caused by having a mushroom the second time you get the mega mushroom. This means you hit the checkpoint flag earlier while your lower body is still under the semisolid platform so you clip through the wall at a lower point and hit the flagpole
Yep, the checkpoint has a progressive mega mushroom power-up. So the first time, he triggers CP first and gets a big shroom on a track, which is higher, and second time he gets the mega mushroom from CP whilst his horizontal position is limited both from the left and from the right; so that time, he clips through the wall enough to get the goal.
6:33 Winged invisible blocks that are activated by spike balls don't check for collisions, so they don't kill the munchers. When you hit an invisible block, every block that was invisible and activated (all of those blocks behind the munchers) check for collisions and kill the munchers/ launchers they are overlapping with. I think Larl played a level with a similar mechanic recently and explains it better
15:40 Since you get big mario after the checkpoint you dont go through the wall the first time, the second time you do get the big mushroom since your a tad taller, so you slide into the wall, thus getting the flag at the end
15:45 dummy thicc trick the second time you are big mario therefore your hit box is taller already when getting the shroom also it can't be a twice twice because lvl start arrow can't be cloned
That mega mushroom setup on the second to last level was ingenious! It made it so that CP1 gave you a mega mushroom, but as you hit the mega mushroom before the CP, it doesn't grant you it and thus you can't beat the level. That's super cool
For anyone who's curious, carlsagan42 actually played a level featuring the glitch at 6:35. From what i remember, basically, when an invisible winged block is triggered from a shell or spike ball, it doesn't update its collision to destroy whatever it overlaps (in this case, a muncher) until you hit another invisible block, which is when it checks collision and kills the munchers. It's... pretty darn weird.
16:45 when you hit the checkpoint and get chunky, you don’t clip into the block with the goal, when you are big, you are 1 block taller, so when you get chunky, the bottom half of you (the 1 block extra hit box) is currently clipping into the block with the goal, so you win. Edit: You are welcome for the info Dave... (in advance)
7:46 in the original SMB for NES, you can do what's called a Proxy Jump. When you get a power up or take damage mid-jump, all upward momentum is cancelled. However if you press jump frame-perfect when transitioning between power states, you can jump again in mid-air. That's what this Uno Mas course is trying to recreate.
The reason dummy thicc trick works is because the second time you got cp1 you were super Mario and got the checkpoint earlier. Mario slightly clips into the wall and getS the top of the flagpole if he’s low enough.
DGR I made a troll level for you, the course ID is: BK8 D1M BYG. It is my first troll level so it might not be what your used to but I really hope you play it because I worked really hard to make the trolls worthy and make it a good troll level. Hope you like it.
Drew, you should swing by RedSCGaming’s stream. He’s an awesome streamer who loves playing troll levels, and if he enjoys it, he might send it to DGR. That’s how I got my level played by him! But just dropping it in the comments here will have a low chance of him playing
7:00 You see Dave, there this weird thing with spike balls and flying hidden blocks. When something is behind them if you hit a hidden block they either die or explode. This has potential to activate p-switches, On/Off Blocks, and could kill enemies. Great Troll Potential.
It's not a twice twice. When Mario gets the checkpoint the first time, he's small and clips into the blocks when he gets the mega mushroom, but not low enough to get the flag. The second time, he has a mushroom. This will cause him to get the mega mushroom earlier, causing him to clip through the block earlier, causing him to get the end.
6:55 When winged blocks are struck, they do not have hit detection, but as soon as a hidden block is hit, the winged block (hit) now gains hit detection and causes everything to be crushed under it.
At around 16:30 the reason you get the flag the second time is becuase you were big mario and the flag was to the left 1 block of the checkpoint. Big mario has a bigger hitbox, therefore grabbing the checkpoint before smaller mario would giving you the mega mushroom earlier clipping you into the blocks and allowing you to grab the flag! Hope this helps!
6:20 For the Munchers in Pipe City level, the thing is that, when you hit a hidden block, it activates the hitboxes of every other hidden block (even if those blocks were already hit). So, hitting the hidden block caused all of the other ones to crush the Munchers sitting in an overlap.
6:50 it’s not a POW block, the game isn’t checking for collision of invisible blocks until you hit the invisible block. At which point it runs the check and kills all the munchers.
8:03 when you become *_EXTRA THICC_* you clip into the wall for a split second due to your hitbox becoming larger horizontally. This allows you to stand on one of the wall blocks for a split second before the wall pushes you out, and in that time period, you can jump off of it. This is also applied in 16:15, where Mario becomes *_EXTRA THICC_* and clips through the wall, touching the flagpole that was inside it.
8:10 the walljump: since you pick up the mushroom your hitbox shifts from 1×1 block to 2×2 blocks. in the first (I believe it's 3) frames you then can jump again due to Mario clipping into the wall because of that hitbox shift. you see the clip at 8:35. The game recognizes this as ground, therefore you can jump of the wall :)
I don't totally understand that one with the munchers, but it involves invisible flying blocks or some such. Carl saw a different Uno Mas involving it.
@DGR the level at 16:25 makes perfect sense. The first time you go and get the mega mushroom you are small and therefore hit it when you are already on top of the blocks. The 2nd time you take it you are big mario and therefore hit the mega mushroom when only your head is touching it and your lower body still is below the platform. your lower body then touches the flag that is hidden behind the left block
16:30, the first time through you are collecting the mega mushroom showing, not the one that you get for collecting the checkpoint flag. So the checkpoint flag gives you no power up because you already have it. The second time through the original mega mushroom is gone (you already collected it), so instead your mega mushroom is from the checkpoint flag. Given the position of the checkpoint flag, it is right next to the wall of the flag goal, you relocate right next to the wall, and your size let’s you clip into the flag.
16:20 - When you are small Mario, you are too high up when you get the big mushroom, so you don't clip through the wall to get the flagpole. However, when you are Super Mario, you get the big mushroom earlier and clip through the wall to beat the level.
6:53 - Either you or Carl showcased this glitch in a previous episode. If a spike ball triggers an invisible block, it doesn't set off collision detection until something else activates one. When you hit that invisible block, all the other ones check for collision and kill the Munchers they're on.
I think the way the fire flower one works is that crouching lowers your hurt box and when you collect a power-up you get invulnerability for a couple frames. Because of the lowered hurt box and therefore, activation box, Mario can actually trigger the axe
I think I understand walljump. When Mario grabs the mega mushroom, he extends in width enough to clip him into the wall onto the ground beneath just enough to be able to jump off of it.
For the Mega Mush one, it's because the first time you go through you get big from the Mush on the track, the second time you get it from the Checkpoint. It clips you into the wall and you touch the flag, not sure whether its because it turns you left or just because you hit it a little earlier
The reason the flagpole clip works is because as big Mario you're extended more downward when you first hit the mega mushroom and so you extend outward while you're that low so you clip through for a second and that's long enough for it to detect that you've hit the flagpole
In the Muncher Crunch Uno Mas, the rolling spike balls are hitting invisible flying blocks that force them to be offset from the grid. Collision isn’t turned back on for them for SOME reason (it’s a feature I’m sure) but when you hit another invisible block, the game checks collision for every other hit block. All the munchers die because they are crushed by the blocks
6:50 this is the quantum entanglement glitch, the explanation is that the collision boxes of winged hidden blocks are not calculated until Mario hits a hidden block. if they are hit by anything else they will wait for Mario's "on hit" flag to effect things they overlap the effect range is on screen
The Muncher level is really interesting tech For some reason, winged hidden blocks don't kill things when they get hit by shell, but once a hidden block is then hit they all update or something, murdering anything within them
for 15:38 i think the game gives the checkpoint priority over the flag and when the checkpoint is used the flag is "disabled" and you need to reload the area (going thru a door does the trick) and when you try again the flag is already used so it has no effect so NOW you can touch the flag
Thats really cool that when you’re super Mario you hit the flag faster than baby Mario. That also allows you to be under the platform and phase though the near by wall. I have learned something new

Woah I’m so early...
I enjoy how excited his Maker is at the beginning of every video
First
You're pretty early!
8:10 the walljump:
since you pick up the mushroom your hitbox shifts from 1×1 block to 2×2 blocks. in the first (I believe it's 3) frames you then can jump again due to Mario clipping into the wall because of that hitbox shift. you see the clip at 8:35. The game recognizes this as ground, therefore you can jump of the wall :)
16:49 When you grab it the second time, you're big mario, so your hitbox is lower, so it clips into the side low enough to grab the flagpole..?
I don't totally understand that one with the munchers, but it involves invisible flying blocks or some such.
Carl saw a different Uno Mas involving it.
@DGR the level at 16:25 makes perfect sense. The first time you go and get the mega mushroom you are small and therefore hit it when you are already on top of the blocks. The 2nd time you take it you are big mario and therefore hit the mega mushroom when only your head is touching it and your lower body still is below the platform. your lower body then touches the flag that is hidden behind the left block
”It all makes sense. It just doesn’t make sense to me yet.”
Said the philosopher covertly pointing out the distinction between territory and map.

I love your content so much great job with all these videos 👍
The reason the flagpole clip works is because as big Mario you're extended more downward when you first hit the mega mushroom and so you extend outward while you're that low so you clip through for a second and that's long enough for it to detect that you've hit the flagpole

The Muncher level is really interesting tech
For some reason, winged hidden blocks don't kill things when they get hit by shell, but once a hidden block is then hit they all update or something, murdering anything within them
The tech in "No Vine is Not Fine" is that you must climb the vine to not get softlocked. You were half right. ; )
for 15:38 i think the game gives the checkpoint priority over the flag and when the checkpoint is used the flag is "disabled" and you need to reload the area (going thru a door does the trick) and when you try again the flag is already used so it has no effect so NOW you can touch the flag
also I didn't mention the big mushroom but maybe that also has an effect so I may be wrong

Thats really cool that when you’re super Mario you hit the flag faster than baby Mario. That also allows you to be under the platform and phase though the near by wall. I have learned something new
I strongly believe that Wilfred has gained awareness of the dreaded troll force, he can make people face smash to spikes through his lvls
Imagine all the cool stuff UNO MASS levels gonna bring with the new update.
