YES absolutely! :) it's also something we are trying to embrace more on this trip. Spending more time in nature, starting some new hobbies (you'll see us try our hand at fishing in the next video ;)) and meeting up with people along the way have been some of our favourites in Canada! So glad you are enjoying the Canada videos, many more to come!!

I never thought I would ask this after watching a van life video, but can you share your recipes? LOL. Each meal looked so delicious & healthy! I am particularly interested in the dressing. That's what I enjoy about your videos the most--You show us the shopping, the cooking, the going to bed, what you're eating at restaurants, the stops to clean out the van, etc. You show us the whole picture & not just the highlights. I loved your excitement over the houses, the falls & of course, the foxes. Terrific video, guys!

The salad was salad, boiled sweet potato and then fried in the pan, so it's a bit crispy, black pepper tempeh and some feta cheese. Super easy to make.
It's loosely based on this recipe: www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/black-pepper-tofu-365129
I took tempeh instead of tofu as I like the texture and flavour better.
Took one big onion, a thumb sized piece of ginger, 3-4 garlic cloves, some soy sauce, chili flakes and some black pepper. Just cut up the onion in small pieces, cut up or grate the ginger and garlic. Toss in pan, add soy sauce, ginger, chili flakes and black pepper (I just generously twist it over it, I think the suggested amounts in the recipe are way too much) and add the tempeh/tofu (I like to cut it up in cubes of about 1-1.5 cm). The tofu/tempeh doesn't get crispy, which I prefer to sometimes I panfry the tempeh first to get it crispy.
First thing I made was some onion, garlic and mushrooms. Probably added some chili and soy sauce as well. Put that on a wrap with some salad, nutritional yeast (tastes a bit like cheese, but not really) and some yoghurt with whatever we had (think it was paprika powder, cumin powder, curry powder and some fresh herbs). You can add a bit of rice to the wrap to make it more filling. Well you can basically chuck anything onto a wrap with a bit of salad :D

These videos bring back a lot of memories. I grew up not far from Niagara Falls and have been there many times, in all seasons. My grandfather actually helped build the Trans-CanadaHighway. And our family would do 4 week long road trips, traveling throughout Canada and the US, every summer, which gave us the luxury of going back and forth by different routes and catching different things, so I find it interesting to see which places you hit or miss. It's a bit sad you didn't see Ottawa, but then you'd likey have bypassed the Thousand Islands.

I'm glad you had such a nice weather at Niagara Falls! It was interesting to hear how Naick changed his opinion about the diesel prices here in Canada☺. When he said in one of the first Canada episodes - the diesel prices are not bad here, cheaper than in Belgium - I said, just wait a little...the distances are crazy here. The diesel will be cheaper in Alberta, more expensive in BC and crazy expensive in the Yukon. The Canadian Rockies are maybe the most beautiful part of Canada but also the most touristy. Just to get a parking place can take a really long time...And if you are in Dawson City, don't forget to try the Sourtoe cocktail - you only can get it there!

  • @adrianadrian255

Southern Ontario is further south than other California, so wine growing is big there. It is in BC too, especially in the Okanagon region. Award winning wines are made, often beating French/Italian wines in competitions. Canada is also known for its ice wines, which few countries can reliably produce. Both Ontario and the Okanagon produce ice wines. To make it, grapes are left on the vine, they mature longer and then are only picked when the weather is below -15 celsius. the freezing drives excess water out of the grapes, leaving them super sweet and intensely flavoured - its a very sweet desert wine that is normally drunk alongside fruit or cheese. Ontario and the Okanagon are about the only places that the -15C can be guaranteed.

I was born and raised in Niagara Falls, it's always fun to see people experience seeing the Falls for the first time. I tend to take them for granted now and rarely every brave the crowds to see them. Also Niagara-on-the-Lake and all of the wineries are great, I always love driving through that area. I hope you'll be travelling along Georgian Bay and Lake Superior to get to Manitoba, that area is the best Ontario has to offer.

Dont miss Drumheller on your route - it is off the highway before you get to Calgary, so about three hours before Banff. You are driving along on the prairie and suddenly the land just sort of falls away into a series’s of canyons. It is recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site and is full of dinosaurs. Some are displayed in the actual spots they were found, but most are in the Tyrell Museum that is situated in the park - it’s a great museum. There is also a loop around the town that can be driven and includes a free crossing on the ferry across the river. I'll put a link below

I hope you realize it is a 16 hour drive, without stops to Thunder Bay from Niagara on the Lake....this also does not include TO traffic. Drive safe, there is moose, deer and bears on the roads up here.

Hey guys. We are visiting Peru right now. Amazing for sure. Wanted to give a heads up, maybe you know, maybe you don’t. Gas prices are insane here!!! OMG. $20/ gallon 🙈

    • @NaickKim

Hi Jesse :) are you sure? Because that sounds extreme. This website says it was about 6 USD a gallon a few days ago: nl.globalpetrolprices.com/Peru/diesel_prices/
Maybe you mean the price in local currency is about 20 a gallon, i.e. 20 Peruvian soles a gallon? I converted it and that is about 6 USD :)

@@NaickKim One thing you may not have considered in your plans this trip in general is that the further west you travel in Canada and the US, the more wildfires and burned out areas are a factor. In Alaska there are actually few places one can go via paved roads (or any roads) and fires have affected many areas. My last trip there a few years ago was very limited by fires. Good luck in all your travels.

Canada is bug infested, and gasoline is so overpriced. Also it's bitterly cold for 7 months out of the year. Quebec was beautiful! Right now in the SE United States you can find gas as low as $2.50 a gallon, maybe 70c a liter.
