"We care so much that we are hurting. We can't be silent about this. The Board of Trustees and the president need to humble themselves and listen to us. It is not up to you. Without the community, you don't have jobs."
Powerful final words from Wegahta. Gave me chills.

It never seems to surprise me that all this discrimination against POF and My Black people comes out. I remember I use to want to attend Galladuet Universit, but after researching the tuition I said no! I mean seriously the cost of tution is high and I wonder why? They must think some of us can't afford tuition so the cost of tuition is high .. It is very heartbreaking watching this

I am seeing comments that are tone-policing Weghata. Stop. That reduces the importance of the WHAT she has to say. HOW she expresses herself is valid. Her anger is valid.
Ask yourself this: if you were frustrated about something that has directly impacted and disfranchised members of your community with little to no change and response from people in charge *for decades*, would you express yourself in a gentle, calm way? You could try, but it'd be incredibly difficult. Also, it wouldn't be honest to do that because the feeling of frustration and anger is not gentle, and the audience would not recognize your anger otherwise.

Well, I understand both of you openly. Keep yourself cool-off. It's better to be creative to work hard with our deaf diverse community at Gallaudet University in our fairness, equality, unity and solidarity as humanity is most important element to our humankind in human nature. It's changing time as we now live in our 21 st Century American society. I don't favor racism, anti-Italian bias, anti-semistic, stimga, favorism, audism, and other prejudiced & negative bias in our Gallaudet University community. Quote is: "All citizens all are equal in our human nature". Wisdom is another important element in humankind ad empathy is very important. I am not afraid but I have no fear. At my honestly, I happen to be the Second-Generation Italian-American who is Sephardic Jewish in my D'Auria Family on American soil on my lineage. Then I am the well-educated Gallaudet University graduate with B.A. in double-majors of Biology and Chemistry with Class of 1981 as the lifetime NAD member since my joint on June 1982. Originally I am from Uniontown, Pa. (Fayette County) near Pittsburgh, Pa. as Uniontown, Pa. was established as a new smaller mountainous town on July 4 1776 as same date as the Founding Fathers in Colonial Congress in Independence Hall Building in Philadephia, Pa. signed up on the Declaration of Independence during American Revolution so historically. Reminder that diversity is important in our today's America in 21 st Century as I have seen them in our reality. So that I respect any of citizens in our America's diversity as I treat them in kindness, better & openly understanding, unity and cooperation in peaceful and non-violent environment. Sincerely, Christa D'Auria

You are tone-policing a Black woman by saying that she should "cool off." As an Italian saying that about a Black woman, that is racist. I suggest you search "tone-policing" to understand what you did. Because why would she be "cool" when expressing her frustrations about a racist system that ignores BIPOC voices? How she expresses herself does not diminish the value of her message. Focus on her message, not her delivery-which was already amazing. If you are concerned about her tone, then you are not concerned about what she has to say and about her feelings.
And yes, diversity is important! That is the exact reason why the Board of Trustees and the President need to value the voices of the diverse BIPOC community at Gallaudet who are fighting for REAL change and equality.

You are tone-policing a Black woman by saying that her message was a "little cruel." In what world is expressing your frustrations about a racist system ignoring BIPOC voices considered to be cruel? Her message was very clear because she expressed the exact reasons why the Black community at and around Gallaudet are frustrated. She did an excellent job speaking out. I suggest you look up "tone-policing" online to understand what you did.
