We went to Dallas, Texas to find out if Texas barbeque was the best. We had bbq brisket, bbq beef ribs, and bbq pork ribs. All of the food was amazing. #texasbbq #texas #bbq #terryblacks
Terry Black's is part of the Black's Barbecue dynasty from Lockhart (my fave in the state), and Terry's original place is in Austin. Sonny Bryan's in Dallas on Inwood Road is the oldest Cue Joint in DFW. Their warmed BBQ Sauce is served in 6-1/2 oz glass Dr. Pepper Bottles and their's are some of the best Pintos ever.
Here’s my list of best DFW BBQ 1. Goldees 2. Daynes Craft BBQ 3. Zavalas 4. Hurtados 5. Caddlack 6. Panther Island BBQ 7. Pecan Lodge 8. Slow Bone The last 3 you could easily rearrange in any order depending on the day you get there.
The 3 rib beef ribs I saw went for 45-59$ at HEB around me that usually has good prices even compared to some of the people around brothers produce row around me so it’s not a bad deal compared to the time in labor to smoke it, season it and slice it when you think about it as a chef the mark up isn’t too bad… but I agree it’s expensive now. Didn’t used to be when I was a kid growing up
Basically everything there is next level and takes basically half a day of slow cooking and smoking to make 👍. Pricey but well worth it with friends as you’re getting the best BBQ in the country imo
@@andrewm6044 completely false I lived in bum ass Kansas City on both the Kansas and Missouri sides and it sucked Texas BBQ is the greatest invention and KC ripped it off
Seems that is located at 3025 Main st... There was a company there that sold enging parts to machine shops and parts hjouses.. The name of it was John D. Harvey Co. .. I worked there for over 15 years. The company had to move because the owners wanted to make more money with all of the "Deep Ellum" bars and such. There are at least 4 other places that had the same happen to them.
@MajesticWaffle I know I'm late, but Texas is famous for salt, pepper, and a lot of smoke flavor. That's why the beef is amazing. Lots of people like their pork ribs to be sauced while cooking, which carmalizes. It depends on the location if that's available or not. same with pulled pork. it usually doesn't come sauced. I prefer space on the side anyways, so I can control how much sauce their is.
@@johnmaynard3463 When I was in Austin I ate at Stiles BBQ and had the "wet" brisket and that experience is burned into my brain. Wish I had tried Terry Blacks and Franklin's too
If you are from Texas then yes, because this is what you have grown up on. I encourage you to try some from all the southern stated. Each one of them make their own masterpiece!!!! You don't have to pick you just have to enjoy.
I'm not from Texas. Have been an over the road trucker for 20 years. Have been to Dreamland in Tuscaloosa, have had Carolina style BBQ. Had amazing BBQ in Georgia. Love Memphis style dry rub. Both St. Louis and Kansas City are great. Texas is KING when it comes to BBQ. Period.
Texas is best if you want beef. Brisket and beef ribs for sure. But when you go other places, try the local stuff. Some Carolina pulled pork with either the South Carolina mustard sauce or the North Carolina vinegar sauce. Each a unique flavor. California has Tri Tip. Hawaii has Kalua pig. Barbacoa and Carnitas from Mexico. And that's just BBQ. We haven't gotten into soul food or the wife range of game meats. Venison from the northern states is so so good.
I worked at a BBQ spot in Louisiana and showing up early meant being theres 2-3 hours before doors opened just to have a spot in line that was inside. Its also first come first serve so if theres no tables open when you get food you had to suck it up and eat in the car so they could move their line. I hated working there and i only stayed so long for my free meals😂

Memphis BBQ is great, so is Mississippi. I had the best ribs every in Savannah, GA - with the mustard S.C. style sauce - I would never think so but it was a game changer!
Place is a little pricey but so worth it the rib is really pricey but there brisket pork ribs and jalapeño cheddar sausage is to die for and there sides are awesome I live in Alaska and I just dream of going back to Dallas just for there food
Me and my wife moved to New Zealand about 15 years ago and we were surprised to see an american bbq joint there in a small town just outside of Auckland called the blue ox. We are big fans of franklins and by no means is that place cheap, you're looking to speend a few hundred dollars at franks. Here in nz, we got 2 pounds of smoked meats for just over $100 and it was absolutely fantastic. The brisket was the classic texas salt and pepper crunch and it was juicy as any texan bbq I ever had. So if you think you're paying too much for bbq. You probably are.
Interesting how this peace of meat has been popularized (brisket especially the part they try to squeeze). Unless you buy the whole carcass, I would avoid that part.
Texas brisket is king. It’s our legacy. I’ve had great BBQ all over the country. Ribs in Memphis, burnt ends in KC, pulled pork in the Carolinas. All great. But Dino ribs, sausage and brisket? No where but Texas.
I can't believe a city as populous as Waco didn't already have a major BBQ spot. Man y'all got Baylor University there. Those kids had to have a spot for Texas bbq.
Dallas got LOTS of good bbq spots, but so does every other city in Texas. Myself I'm not a sauce connoseut, I don't believe in using sauces on bbq meat. So when I rank a spot, its based on the quality, taste, and quantity for the buck, of the meat that I get. If you gotta cover it in goop, it ain't good meat. My personal favorites are; Irving: "Fred's BBQ". Small family owned business. I haven't been by there in a while so I don't know if Mr. Leon, and Ms. Queenie still own/run the place. Mr. Leon's health wasn't doin too well last time I visited. My love and best prayers to his family. Dallas: Pappas BBQ. Yes its a chain, but I still like it. Ain't never been to Terry Blacks, but I don't need to. Pappas is just as good. McKinney: Hutchin's BBQ. If you wanna experience the way traditional Texas bbq tastes like when you were a kid in the 60's....Hutchins got cha covered. Addison: Cattleack BBQ. I knew the owners when they were in the "disaster remediation business". Good folks, better bbq. They have a great sausage plate too.
That's a good idea, but be careful. If a place smothers the meat in bbq sauce, that's a danger sign. Ask for sauce on the side, or in a bottle. Sometimes you'll like one meat ok, and love the others. ie. They might have dried-out brisket, but they have tender delicious chicken, turkey, or ham, or banging pork sausages. Also try the novelty sides like the bbq bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, deviled egg potato salad, etc. Also, be careful on those beef ribs, you'll get so full, you'll have to get "to-go boxes" for everything else.
That’ll be $248.80 😎
The experience is worth the price
For one person.

A new BBQ joint just opened up here in Mississippi. They charge $25 per lb. for beef ribs. That one rib was probably pushing 3 lbs. =$75
terry blacks isn't that expensive. Its probably around 190 total
It’s $35 per lb for the beef ribs at Terry blacks, weight with a bone😂
$34 for beef rib
Terry black ribs paid about $50.00 for 1 big ribs. 3 side cost me $75.00

went here last year for my bday. amazing bbq. was around $300 on a special deal for 6 ppl. they also have rly good peach cobbler
I swear, that peach cobbler hits different 😭
$50 per person ain't bad. 😃
Don’t waste your money. Go to Hutchins in McKinney instead. Terry’s is overhyped
I can’t believe that outdoor-grilling and bbq’s etc hasn’t caught on as big over here in England yet, food looks banging . 👌👍

Terry blacks is bbq royalty! Glad ya enjoyed it
Its the best you can get! Franklins is also crazy good. But you gotta get there early at the crack of dawn lol
Man American food in general r soo good, I would surely become fat too if I was an average citizen there
Our BBQ is out of this world and there are amazing BBQ restaurants in every city.
You can master the skills yourself at home though with a simple pit.
One thing I miss the most about Texas is that every bar has Shiner Bock
Beer of the gods.
Omg terry blacks is so good 😭😭😭
Every customer that you saw sitting in that restaurant either was ballin in life or on the verge of bankruptcy from how much it costs to eat there lol
It is crazy expensive, but it was worth every penny.
I've been all over the united states and i will say that Terry blacks is in my top 5 places for BBQ.
And wash it down with a nice cold Shiner Bock!!! 😋👍🌻
Don’t forget that Big Red
When it comes to beef BBQ Texas is head n shoulders above the rest. Now for pork . . .

Texas has the best beef ribs and brisket. The deep Southern States do pork, chicken, and sides better.
