Very commendable. I have half English children, but couldn’t continue teaching them Yoruba. Simply because as a nurse, I got injured, this has resulted in three major surgeries to date over 23 years, now my son is married, daughter is also an adult and left home. I am not going to make the same mistake with my grandchildren now. I started with my son as a 3-year-old, learning one- okan, 2 -eji, 3 èta etc. Our culture is beautiful and our children must know it.
@YorubaPikin it's also good that they can communicate with grandma, when my mum was alive, she was already old, in her 90s but she had gone to with the Lord now, she couldn't communicate with them, and my younger child i.e my daughter was always getting grandma in trouble with her dad. As she was trying to get them to eat the right foods & she wanted biscuits, crisps etc. As grandma oftentimes saw that once she was stuffed with biscuits, she wouldn't eat real food she'd cooked at that age. I had put my foot down, once they returned from school, they could only eat not more than 4 pieces of biscuits or a packet of crisps. That settled the problem, making father & children know that the home was my mum's as well. As she was unhappy with the conflicts caused by "little madam" in the house. It wasn't only Grandma, it was the same with others.
I am INCREDIBLY proud to hear these children and their dad have a healthy conversation in YORUBA!! 😁😁👍🏾👍🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 I am so blew away and put to shame.... 😢😢 Dad, you are my yoruba across the sea hero. Seriously, I love the boys rocking their heritage 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
