I broke my right wrist in a motorcycle accident years ago and it's caused a tremendous amount of discomfortable to range of motion in my hand and may have developed reactive arthritis from it, but what what I do know is after trying your wrist stretch routine just for a few minutes I immediately feel a huge relief in my hands, thank you!
I have a small but painful ganglion cyst in my left wrist, I can’t do pushups or any other exercises like that as it puts pressure on my wrist leading to pain, should i try this? I don’t want to do any excessive movements to worsen the condition. If anyone has had the same experience please lmk.
Solid video. I've been kind of feeling tiny bang ups particularly in my hips when I get deep in a squat or my elbows when doing pull ups. Appreciate all these tips!
I broke me wrist around December this year. I used to be able to do 80 pishups none stop. Now I can't even do 5 without my wrist feeling like it will snap. Maybe it's in my head?
This is something I needed last year after breaking my wrist. However, I took Pavel's technique for stretching and did that with my wrists gently flexed in a knee pushup position. From there, I progressed to more flexion, strength, and mobility. As of the last couple of months, I've finally been able to do pushups on both sides of the hand. I hope this helps anyone reading this too.
Yo this is amazing, this exercise can actually remove the pain and improve my wrist. After doing this exercise for about a minute the main is starting to fade and after about 5 minutes my wrist pain is gone. Thanks for this very valuable information
You may have an injury in that case. Remember, even healthy movement s are bad if you have some preexisting damage. I woudl get it checked out for sure.
I used to use push-up bars cause of wrist pain , i quite using them on Mat's advice and guess what? No more wrist pain ! I guess my wrists got stronger . Thanks Matt. RDP is the real deal fellas!
Matt I can do Archer Push ups almost without the assistance of the arm that's not doing the work but If I try one arm Push Ups, I only get like two...what can I do? I mean to start doing more one arm Push ups.
I have a semi-sharp pain in the right wrist when doing this - it feels like some bone or tendon is in the wrong place and needs to switch over or snap back in place. I suspect lower mobility and/or strength is the culprit. I hope it goes away by doing this excerscise.
I unfortunately can't physically bend one of my wrists back 90 degrees when doing push ups due to injury/surgery when I was younger. It only bends back 45 degrees. Any recommendations for push-up alternatives? Stick with the push-up bars?
Yep, in that case bars are good, also you can try doing them on a brick or block of wood so your fingers can flex and that might allow some more motion, but if the wrist just doesn't bend then the handles are my next strategy
Hey Matt - what do you think about the SlingShot by Mark Bell? For dips in particular. Do you think you can become too reliant on that, despite the fact it’s supposed to prevent injury?
😭 I had surgery on my wrist a few years ago. I have plenty of flexibility (i have hypermobility) but in my hands to floor presses I end up with bones grinding on bones. Enter grind straps! Keeps my wrist in neutral position the way rings couldn’t. I’m totally adding this into my day as well. Thanks Matt!

Hey Matt, What do you think about training abs Greese the groove style with low resistance high reps 5 days a week and 1 day a week training abs with high resistance low reps. Is this effective for ab development
I would guess not as much as training the core harder a few times a week. The muscles in the abs are just like any other muscles, lighter and more frequent training may not be the most effective way to build up the muscles as harder and more intense training methods.
As always you provide yet another short, concise and no BS video that disregards the youtube algorithm in order to rpovide us with amazing content, I have suffered from wrist pain on many excersises and will start applyign these steps to see how it works, cheers!
I've been working hard in the gym, do push ups at home and bench pressing but I benched press my max and I injuried my wrist . Now I can't do one push up, what can I do ?
Hey Matt! I'm reading your Bodyweight Training for Martial Arts book and it's really great! I've been training calisthenics and martial arts for quite some time myself and it's sad to see strength training is ill-conceived in many traditional schools. Push-ups were even a forbidden exercise in a Kungfu-Dojo I trained at. So from my experience... the world of martial arts desperately needs your book! Thank you!
Thank you very much for reading my book, and I agree. I've been involved in several disciplines from martial arts to Taiko Drumming and that's been my take away too. There's a lot of tradition, yet ignorance when it comes to proper physical conditioning.
Hello, nice video. I have a pain in the center of my chest. I started feeling it on dips, and I stopped them. I still feel them when I feel tired or use too much force.
Partially, it will certainly help, but some of that pain also comes from the shoulder downward, so improving tension control in your shoulder and upper back also helps a lot
It may be at first, it's a good sign that you're waking up some sleepy muscles. You may want to back off on the intensity for a bit until your system gets used to the exercise for the next week or two
I feel your pain Jesse, also, a lot of wrist pain comes from scapular instability too, so be sure those shoulder blades are tucked in tight to the spine.
It's worth noting the when i fold my hand forward without clasping it I can make a snapping sound from with, with no pain But when i did this it felt likemy wrist is being ripped apart until i relaxed it by opening my hand wide and pulling it back
Thank you, I work on the computer a lot and I've noticed that my wrist hurts when I do pushups lately.
wow. this is amazing! my pain went away almost instantly. I have tried almost everything and nothing else worked. thank you so much!
Glad it helped! No pain = All gain!

This is way more better than having a wrist routine of 5-10 minutes. Gonna try this. Matt just killed many brids with one stone.🕊
I'm trying to learn everything I possibly can learn to strengthen my body and to defend myself, because.... I'm kinda getting bullied at school-

A guy said in one of your last videos that this video really helped him, so let's prove that streching feels very niceeeee
What you teach and make possible for everyone to do in such a concise way is true mastery of communication. Thank you so many times over.
happy to help SM, stay strong and pain free my friend!

Wow!!! Can really feel it. Just started exercising regularly and this will come in handy!!! No pun intended!!! Thank you. :)
Happy training Peter, and feel free to hit me up if you have any questions in your workouts
RedDeltaProject Thank you!!! :)
Can you please make a video of the pain in the elbow when doing push ups
My Forearms are burning!!!
Cool exercise!
I commit to this homework for the next 7 days and see how it will improve my GSC Workouts. =)
So how did it go?
Gosh just wanted to start doing weall leant wrist extension and flexion loaded stretches daily, but guess I'll be doing these hehe. Thanks Matt!
Deep pike push ups require a lot more wrist mobility than HeSPU

Wrong! This made my wrist hurt again. It hurts every time I bend my hand downwards. It hurts from the side of my wrist up through my thumb.
You may have an injury in that case. Remember, even healthy movement s are bad if you have some preexisting damage. I woudl get it checked out for sure.
That’s pretty handy, thanks!

I have tried to do this warm up and my wrist were stronger and pain free!!!! Thank you so much!
Woo hoo! So glad to hear this, you made my day.
needed this video since i rely on push up bar to do push ups
🤣🤣Matt. The “innnaagh” was helariois
lol, that's the sound I make all the time when training, it's like the call of the wild Schifferle
🤣
I'm currently doing ring push ups I really love them!
They are a powerful technique. If you're looking for something really fun check these out: ua-cam.com/video/GxFlQ2WKy_c/v-deo.html
Yoo wtf why did that work so much !! Ty 1 year late lol
well, better than several years late I guess.
But it works by helping to improve the alignment of forces running through the wrists.
he look like the wallance from wallance and gromit
That's a new one, loved those stop-motion flicks back in the day.
What abut shoulder pain when doing push-ups?

Hey Matt - what do you think about the SlingShot by Mark Bell? For dips in particular. Do you think you can become too reliant on that, despite the fact it’s supposed to prevent injury?
I haven't played around with it, but I'm hesitant to use any sort of assistance or supportive gear esp. in calisthenics

Oh my God THANKS Matt! My wrist are always sore from Boxing and working in a lumberyard
Super happy to help Chuckleberryfinn, manual labor can be hard on the joints.

Hey! I asked you about this, thanks for putting your answer into the UA-cam-verse!
Happy to do it Christian, let me know if you have any further questions.

Godo to hear Marco, hope this does the trick for ya. Nothing like having indestructible joints to make it easier to get strong.
I've been working hard in the gym, do push ups at home and bench pressing but I benched press my max and I injuried my wrist . Now I can't do one push up, what can I do ?
Gotta let that sucker heal up. maybe get it checked out to make sure you didn't do any sort of permanent damage.
How many reps do you suggest? I can already feel a difference doing them with u! Thx
As many reps are necessary and beneficial. Once the technique starts to go down hill, it's time to stop the set/ workout

Amazing!
I'm actually working on my false grip, at the moment so will this movement help with that..?
For sure, flase grip requires quite a bit of flexor strength
Thanks alot! I can already feel so much better doing this
Great to hear!
But how do I do wrist pain without pushups? :(
Pistol squats for flat feet people
Hello, nice video. I have a pain in the center of my chest. I started feeling it on dips, and I stopped them. I still feel them when I feel tired or use too much force.
A bit of tendon strain, keep things light for now. It's gonna be a while until that heal up fully.
Does this tip apply for forearm pain too Matt (tendonitis etc)?
And will i become better and stronger on rings exercises also?
Thanks!
Partially, it will certainly help, but some of that pain also comes from the shoulder downward, so improving tension control in your shoulder and upper back also helps a lot
@@RedDeltaProject Thanks a lot!!!
dude thank you! this just made all of my wrist pain go away and I can lift again!
Great to hear! happy lifting!
This is great. Will help with elbows too, brill advice as always.
Is it normal for it too feel like my forearm is going to cramp up?
It may be at first, it's a good sign that you're waking up some sleepy muscles.
You may want to back off on the intensity for a bit until your system gets used to the exercise for the next week or two
this actually takes the pain away, thanks for the tip 👍
Happy to hear, pain will always hold you back, so I'm glad my video helps you take off that limitation
Thanks man, very interesting.
I just did bridges today and oww my wrist hurts. Thank you for your timely crucial info
I feel your pain Jesse, also, a lot of wrist pain comes from scapular instability too, so be sure those shoulder blades are tucked in tight to the spine.
Yes sir.! Will keep that in mind
Very helpful, eased my wrist pain. Thanks.
Glad to hear JP L. Pain free is the way to go!
How about something for elbow pain with pull-ups?
Coming right up! Look for it tomorrow.
RedDeltaProject Thank you looking forward to that. It is an issue as of keeping them close and having issues at times at the start of the routine.
Thank you so much! :)
Thanks for these videos 😊
Again, GREAT VIDEO

It's worth noting the when i fold my hand forward without clasping it

wow! thanks,
You're more than welcome Ed & Caryn Norton and thank you very much for watching :)
Something needing to work on to feel more of the tension, but yeah feeling it and can see how they can help. Will add this to my daily routine
Great idea to help keep arthritis OUT.
