  • “Sometimes policing doesn’t look very pretty.”
Officers at Manchester Airport would have been in “fight or flight” mode, says former armed response police officer Harry Tangye, as footage is released of an officer kicking and stamping on the head of a man lying on the ground.

On 23/07/2024 at the Manchester airport. Police officer came to arrest the Asian man in blue. As they put the handcuffs on him they pushed him onto the machine and started beating him. The abused Asian man had a friend/brother who was sat on bench and tried to push the abusive officers off but then the officers pulled their taser guns out and the first Asian lad (in blue) also reacted in self defence against the abusive police. During the scuffle the elderly mother seen in the video got punched in the face which rightfully caused the 2 Asian men to become more aggressive in defence of their elderly mother. A snippet of how violent and unnecessarily aggressive the officers became is seen in the video including a full swing kick with steel toe caps into the face of the tasered man on the floor. After this one of the officers intentionally punched elderly woman square in the face. So the Asian man in red told them ''what are you doing, you are hitting an old woman'', whilst he went to pick up her slippers

I run a police scandal page, so let me give you the downlow. What we have seen is all that person has. It's doubtful police will release the footage, and that's on them. Police are fast to release footage that shows them under attack or arresting a disturbing suspect. They will hold onto footage that shows their wrongdoing. I'm pretty sure the airport won't release the footage, although the media has a better chance of getting it, particularly if it's seen in court. I'd love to see the entire series of events. I don't doubt they all needed arresting. I don't doubt they are unhinged and attacked the female Constable. The minute they were seated and on the ground, that's where police f**ked up. Doesn't matter how much good police do, unfortunately, it's events like this that put relations back. It's incredibly disappointing.

I agree totally, the threat must be immobilised fully,
This is a airport, where the publics safety is paramount,
They showed total disregard for our laws and even less regard for leaving the female officer with a severe nasal injury,
If theyd managed to grapple a firearm, the situation could have been much worse,
They showed no mercy and no mercy must be given,
The softly, softly approach is why we are where we are now.

As a ( retired) NHS high intensity psychotherapist working with many severe ptsd patients and having both MSc in CBT and a BSc psychology degree. In my opinion, watching this video, it is NOT the reflexive, physiological, and involuntary flight or fight survival threat responses. These are called, along with freeze, the defensive cascade. They are inbuilt survival responses, activated by the sympathetic nervious system under imminent (or perceived) threat. These actions, I saw, was not a defensive action, as there was, at that moment, no personal threat. The only caveat is that the police officer was so hyper aroused, his particular sensitised nervous system was, for him, under great stress, and his attentional bias for threat was extreme and out of conscious and rational control.

Exactly they have a duty of care and a man on the ground, even if he's done something wrong, is within their care from the moment they start tasering and on top of the tasering that guy kicks and stamps on his head ? Unnecessary. People want police to have more powers but what happens when it turns on them too?

  • @apostleagustusstewart4139

I’ll say this from now. Police are doing damage control, they was never fearful of there guns being taken, both Suspects were complying, one had been tased, once Suspects are complying any force after the facet is unreasonable force, & because of the severity of which that officer kicked that man who was completely still on the ground had he’s face kicked in & stomped on, the police have to now come up with something to match the level of severity, & the only way to do that is by saying the armed officers were fearful there guns were going to be taken. The only major problem we now have with that is, in this Clip in the footage we all see, none of the suspects ever motioned in attempt to take their guns. They were both complying. If you Side with the police because of the events that happened prior your just as bad as the police., If you can’t see the police are doing damage control you really need your wake up!

Regardless of what may have happened leading up to the officer assaulting these guys, at the point he attacks these civilians were incapacitated and posing no threats. They're not grappling with the police, they are not trying to wrestle weapons from the officer. We obviously aren't seeing the whole story here and there may indeed have been some initial incident to trigger this, but the footage we do have is enough to see clearly that, in the instants of these attacks, there is absolutely no justification for the level of brutal violence all perpetrated by this particular rogue officer (we subsequently see him kick another man who was kneeling on the floor with his hands on his head and complying with orders and later he also pepper sprays and wrestles one of the bystanders who videoed the original attack). The fact that fellow officers had been injured may have provoked him to anger but these are armed officers and as such it is even more important that their actions should be measured and proportional. An armed officer acting out of anger and spite poses a danger to all. While I believe the vast majority of police officers are good, there are unfortunately violent thugs in all walks of life and they are often particularly drawn to professions that give them the power and opportunity to vent their aggression like this.

Unless u have been violently and repeated assaulted about the head area, "pummelled" would he a good word to use, unless u have amd know the effects on your brain and behaviour "fight and flight" is the bodies default position to take. Unless you are being subjected to this level of violence, ur not qualified to pass judgement. 2 strike to the head can cause cognitive and behavioural issues. The officer would have been dazed, eyes watering and unable to see correctly. He would not have known the suspected was even tasered. He just knew he was being attacked, his female colleague werent able to handle the violence, and there was a risk of their weapons being taken.
There is NO training in the Police arsenal to aid reaction to this attack. Everybody has different pain thresholds. You will be disorientated, your vision will be affected at the very least by tears, and normally double vision occurs. Your orientation will he affected, thus unable to deal with outside threats around you. Your hearing will be affected, and the brain will be struggling to process information, voices, and what's occurring. Your natural first instincts are survival and either to attack or flee. In an enclosed space, fleeing isn't an option, so it's to fight and prevent further attacks.
It's easy to sit at home on the sofa and say you wouldn't have reacted that was, or a trained professional wouldn't have reacted that way. Unless u have been there, you will never understand
